I think Amy will be more careful to not say things (make promises) that she can't keep up this time. It will be easier for her to decide on anything once they've actually finished the UK tour, and have a breather from touring.

As long as they don't give us another "The new album will be out early in 2010" when it really comes out late in 2011. -_-

Just found a new article on NME from the same interview: I think that Amy is just thinking about recording the songs that she already wrote during the experimental phase. It would be nice to finally put that music out and then maybe get back to Ev. Remember though, Amy isn't promising anything. She is only stating her musical ambitions outside of Ev. As for myself, I'm not really into folk, but I think the electronic music might be pretty good if it's something like Portishead or Swimming Home. Edit: Forgot to add the link: here.

I'm really trying hard to be optimistic here, but I can't. Of course I knew there was going to be a break, but I remember Amy saying that she hoped the next album wouldn't have to take another 5 years! What happened to that? Maybe the person who wrote the article used the wrong tone to describe Amy's words..

She actually said that in this article as well. Hopefully in another interview or something, Amy will explain this more, and then we'll all feel better. Probably the last thing she wants is to leave us all worrying. Maybe the person who wrote the article used the wrong tone to describe Amy's words.. Definitely agree there.

I think we're all overreacting here. Do you think Amy and the guys would just leave us hanging for another five years, after coming back stronger than ever? That wouldn't be fair not only to us, but their creative potential.
The way I see things, Evanescence will probably take a one year break, spend a year on the album, and be touring again before we know it.

Probably the last thing she wants is to leave us all worrying. You're right, but I remember that one time it sounded different in my ears. See what I'm talking about? It's the article's tone fault the reason we're all freaking out. They can have their time off, they deserve it of course. Amy can do her own thing for a while as long as she re-joins with Ev again. I'll always love and support Amy, but I'd rather see her back with Evanescence after that solo break.

I should add that there are many artists in the rock world that have branched out into other genres. Aaron Lewis of Staind recently released a country EP and is coming out with an album this fall. Jonathan Davis of Korn has J Devil, his dubstep alter ego. Has anyone heard Sully Erna's Avalon? It's completely different from Godsmack and goes in a tribal direction.
