Evanescence's Amy Lee: 'I'm not sure what we'll do next' Singer tells NME that the Arkansas rockers are planning another long break after their UK tour"Evanescence singer Amy Lee has said that the band are planning to take an extended break after they complete their UK arena tour in November. The Arkansas rockers released their self-titled third studio album in October last year, a full five years after their second album 'The Open Door' and Lee has told NME that she hasn't ruled out being away for that long again. Asked if the band were thinking about writing a fourth album, Lee said: "I'm always playing the piano and harp because I like to, but I haven't been purposeful in my playing. I haven't been sitting down to write." She continued: "I'm thinking we'll take a break first. I'm really not sure what I'll do next. At the end of any really long tour you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run we'll go on a break for a while and figure things out." Then asked if she thought the break would be as long as the one between albums two and three, Lee said she thought taking breaks like that was no bad thing and she wasn't prepared to guess when their fourth album would emerge. She added when asked if she hoped for a shorter gap between records: "I don't know. Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don't think it's a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I'd rather make something that's awesome and then make people remember again. I hope it doesn't take five years, but I don't want to put a timeline on it either." Then asked if the rest of her band were onboard with this, she said: "We'll all be doing our own thing for a while. They're very talented and they'll all be fine." Before they go on a break, Evanescence will play a UK arena tour in early November, playing four shows. The band kick off the tour at Nottingham's Capital FM Arena on November 5, before moving on to Manchester Arena on November 6 and then Birmingham Indoor Arena on November 8. They finish up with a show at London's Wembley Arena on November 9. Support on the tour will come from The Used on all shows. " -- They've been touring for such a long time and to so many places- they do need a break. But I really really hope it won't take another 5 years

Of course.. I guess they need it. It wasn't what they said at all, but i can't help to think that this means "We're done, bye". You know, since they don't have a contract anymore

i was sure they would take a break so i'm not getting bummed.. let's face it amy's in her 30's now and she "would love to have a family" so if she comes with a baby the next couple years it wouldn't surprise me at all i sure don't want evanescence to end forever and i hope and believe they will return again like they did after the "5 years wait" BUT! honestly musically speaking what i REAAAALLY want is an amy solo album! she's really talented and surely she brought my attention to ev and i would LOVE to hear a CD full of "stomping steve" style songs

Hmm.. That's a good question. I'm not sure, but i am pretty sure Amy said so herself.

I feel like Evanescence would end soon. I mean there's the fact that Amy's 30 & married now and since there's been a lot of line-up changes, It sometimes worried me that they're going to get tired of trying to find new musicians and just break up. 2 more studio albums, then that'd be the end of Evanescence. Let's just hope the current line-up is the last.

Aww this sucks. I don't really mind them taking a break for a year, but I really don't want it to take five year.
I'll admit I did kind of want this era to be done so, they could get in their personal time and get back to writing and stuff. But she sounds pretty unsure of what's going to happen next and that makes me nervous.

^ That's what i'm thinking too.. If they actually decide that they're done, do you think i'll get a day or ten off from school? but if they quit there won't be any ev news to discuss, and this forum will die! D:

People keep asking Amy what the future holds, but how is she sposed to know anything more than the near future? At least this time we know that the band feel closer than ever. Amy is 30, but some people don't have kids til 35 or later. I hope that Amy doesn't feel like she needs such a big break again this time though.

After this break, however long it may be, I could see them scaling down the touring. I could even see Amy pursuing a solo career. But I can't picture her not recording music of some kind. She just seems to love it too much.

Atleast you don't live in London and haven't managed to get tickets because you were on holiday and when you came back and planned to get tickets they were sold out >.<
