Amy has been saying this the whole time, it's not like it's new news. She just doesn't know, she wants some time out and then see how she feels, as usual. I don't think the break will be as long, I'm sure that it will be kinda be like between Fallen and TOD, which was like 3 years.
On another note I'm very glad I went out on a limb on decided to go to the UK shows, it's alot of money for me, but it'll be priceless to see Ev for the last time before they go into hiding.

Been a fan for (almost) ten years and never seen them live. Everytime something always prevented me. Please don't be over.

Not surprised. I've always imagined they were going to take a break after this album, i just hope that break isn't too long. I mean, i'd be fine with a three years break.
But like some people said here, having kids soon is probably part of Amy's plans, so that makes me think that maybe they will take a long break because of that. Let's hope they don't, though.

When I first saw the headline, I felt bummed. Then I realized that what they're taking is an extended break, which just means that it's longer than a normal break between tours. Last time, they took a hiatus. I think Amy is just starting to get tired from touring, and maybe after a month or two (or three) off, she'll get her head together and figure out what's next. Considering that she is happy with the current band lineup as well as the latest album and already had the really long time off, we should hopefully see another album sometime during 2014. This will also allow Troy and Will to return to Dark New Day for a little bit.

Ugh, I don't know. I always kinda hoped that after this tour they'd go back to writing again and everything although I knew that was very unlikely. But actually reading it is still a bit of a slap in the face. I was also hoping for some little acoustic tour. Doesn't seem that tiring as a normal concert.. (So no fourth video? And WHEN will LIP come out goddammit?)
I'm glad I saw them on this tour, still feel horrible that I didn't meet Amy,and now I feel worse cause I begin to fear more and more that this could be the end of everything. (pun intended) Amy definitely wants kids, and when that happens, I really don't know what'll become of Ev. Oh well, is London sold out yet? Cause I'm stlll hoping to convince a friend of mine to come with me...

I'm fairly sure you can still get tix for London... I thought Amy said that the LIP video would be done after their touring?

The only tickets left are the ones WAY at the back and they're much, much more expensive. There isn't a 3rd video, right? it's just WYW & MHIB? omg if there is no video for LIP saghousgho D:

Seems weird to release a video when all the touring is over. I thought, or I think they'll get back into writing soon, they've all been talking so greatly of how much they love the lineup and the new album. *hopes the break isn't that long*

It's 2007 all over again dammit. One of the reasons I believe is that she has started thinking of creating a family, but doesn't want to go public with that yet. And that's quite fair! So that's it, no more Ev for the rest 3 to 5 years. Or maybe never? I'm crying....

I think we all need to calm down just a wee bit lol ;D Amy didn't say anything about this being the end of Ev, she talking about a "next album" so there will be one, she just doesn't know when yet, which is fair enough, she needs to take a few months to relax, spend time with her family and get her headspace right, after that she might decide that she would like to start writing again or that maybe she would like to take a few years off and have kids, who knows... one thing we know for sure is that Amy tried to keep away from Ev before, she thought that maybe it was the end of Ev, but she just couldn't keep away, she missed it. So no matter what, whether she has kids or not or whether it takes years or not, we will have Ev back one day in some shape or form, whether it's with new band members, some electronic album or just some EP's released online with a limited tour. All the memebers came back after 5 years so who's to say that wouldn't happen again? Amy will always be making music

It's 2007 all over again dammit. The difference between 2007 and 2012 is that in 2007 Ev lost two band members and had to go on with temporary touring members (who eventually became official members of Ev). Now Amy is comfortable with this lineup, which is probably the strongest ever, and I honestly don't see it changing any time soon. Thank you Lycrymosa for keeping us optimistic.

What's said in the interview isn't literally "We're done. Farewell!" but I really don't like the tone. I expected something more like "Oh, we're so exhausted of touring and we can't wait go get home and take a well deserved break so that we can start writing again, full of energy and inspiration, etc." The whole "I don't know" thing is quite depressing. I don't want to wait another five years. Or even more, who knows. It's just... blah.

I'm now wondering... if there's going to be a fourth single video... Mmm... Anyway, I'm fine if they take a break, but as many of you have stated, I just hope it's not a 5 years break! Too much to take! But if they do, then give us at least a DVD Tour with many footages as possible... demo versions everywhere.... and weird stuff so that we can endure! And in between their break I wouldn't mind if they play at least one big concert to commemorate 10 years of Evanescence to eventually release another DVD!! I'm just dreaming...

I would give Amy and/or the band the chance to clear this up. There will probably be some interviews and press during this next tour.
