Hey, guys!
I know that a lot of people probably think it's way too early to discuss this, but, don't you go through those moments when you're listening to another band or solo act and think "Ev should include something like this on their next album"?.
So, what are your ideas?
(i think we had a thread like this on the old ET)

Well all Ev's eras are vey different In feel, I have a feeling this one will Beas heavy or heavier than their other albums, they will probably have some of the lighter piano or harp songs, I'd be surprized if they made a soft album or went into the electronic stuff like they attempted before...I don't think Ev will have too many more records(maybe 2-3 more) because I think Amy will want to try her solo stuff in a few years, I really hope Ev makes more music though:)

I just love threads like this! Here are some of my ideas: 1. I want the next era to have a remix website similar to the one for Nine Inch Nails found here: remix.nin.com/Wouldn't it be cool if we had this many remixes for Evanescence songs? I would die. Amy and the guys could release acapella and instrumental versions of every song from Fallen - The Fourth Album and people would remix them. Holy crepes that sounds amazing. 2. I want them to try to make an app for it like Bjorks Biophilia or Lady Gagas Artpop. Idk why I like this idea so much, but I just think it would be cool to immerse myself in the band I love so much. An app would help me do that. 3.I want another friggin live album either before or after the release of the fourth album. Seriously folks. Follow Within Temptations lead and start releasing some spectacular live footage! 4. First 2 singles should be picked by management/the band and the last 2-3 singles should be left up to the fans. If Evanescence isn't going to be classified as "pop" anymore and they aren't selling like they used to, they should only have 2 singles that would be considered commercial. The last singles would be the artistic, new experimental stuff. Wouldn't that kick ass? 5. We need an acoustic album/tour. Please. Make it happen. Nuff' said. 6. Change labels and start advertising the music more! People like Evanescence when they hear the music but they never get a chance to hear it. I'd love for Ev/Amy to go independant and start releasing music 1-3 songs at a time digitally and then bundle them together for a physical release or something. The more songs we get the better! 7. Go back to the more heavily electronic sound they were thinking about before! I can totally see Ev progressing into a really dark rock version of Bjork or Imogen Heap and I TOTALLY love that idea. Amy needs to get back into the creative state she was in during The Open Door. 8. Longer, better live shows. Since we are dreaming here, I'd like for Ev to start performing bigger shows. Have some outfit changes, light shows, instrumental breaks, improvisation, do some more cover songs, and just generally make it something different every night. By the time this album releases they will have 4+ albums worth of material to play. Why not switch it up? 9. Amy should do some solo collaboration work with big artists in whatever genre. I'd love to see Amy work with Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Apocalyptica, or another band or artist that have a lot of guest vocalists. Amy needs to get her voice back out into the radio in a big way. She still has the pipes, people just need to listen. 10. Keep these friggin band members. This is by far the best lineup the band has ever had. Don't change it! Just get the creative juices flowing and create the most breathtaking masterpiece the world has ever seen.

I sooo agree that we need the choir back, and I'd die if we got a live CD/DVD.
I miss the dark and spooky sounds. I miss the layers too. It'd be great to have the darker experimental feel of TOD mixed with the heaviness of Evanescence and Fallen.
I'd also like to see their music videos for album 4 tell a story and have a more solid theme all around. Their videos are always beautiful, but how about casting some actors and mixing things up? Every era is so different from the other that's it's hard to predict what's next, but that's part of the reason why they are amazing.

Heavier, more experimental with more instrumentals (perhaps entire instrumental tracks). They don't need to make an impression on the popular music industry and they know that.
Their live variations are mind-blowing and Amy, Tim, Terry, Troy and Will are all creative geniuses with a massive range of influences between them. If they're given the freedom to just make what they want and given time to really experiment it could be bloody amazing, completely out of this world and completely original \m/
Perhaps a 'concept' album? I reckon that would be pretty cool, with a mix of electronic and symphonic elements to fill out the sound (:

Hm...
I think she'll want to venture back to the LilyWhite Sessions and do something with that. And I'd love to hear whatever it is they worked on then.
I think there will be more piano. Amy loves her piano.
I hope there will be more of whatever is "missing" from Ev3. I love the album, but it's lacking in something.
More songs like "Swimming Home," "New Way to Bleed," and "Secret Door." Also, something like "Lose Control," again.
For Amy and the guys to play what they want to play, not what the record company forces them to. I think they'd be better off with a different label, like Century Media or Nuclear Blast.

I agree with a lot of things you said, guys.
If i had to be realistic, i'd say that Ev4 will probably sound similar to Ev3 in the sense that the guys will be definetely bringing the straight up rock again, while Amy will bring piano and super high notes. I think the next album will probably have a similar approach, especially if they stay with WU.
Ok, my ideas:
*Maybe sign to a different label. There's this label called Kill Rockstars. They're independent and known for putting out the Bikini Kill albums and all sorts of alternative stuff, but according to them, they like hearing what the bands have to offer instead of asking the banmembers for changes, they give a lot of artistic freedom. So maybe Ev could get sing to a label with the same ethics. I'd like that. maybe that way they could really experiment with different stuff and truly grow.
*I'd like them to be able to blend together the guys's straight up rock sound with Amy's more experimental approach. Maybe include different instruments like those taiko drums they were talking about in 2009, more harp, more obvious electronic sounds and just new and refreshing influences. I think they should go back to those Lillywhite sessions and do something with them, or maybe call Lillywhite to finish what they started, idk. They should totally bring back things like that 2009 intro, also.
*If they decide to stick to the rock sound, i'd like the instrumentation to be more diverse. I don't want more songs like Sick for example, that sounds very uninspired and just very, very average. I like the song anyway, especailly the lyrics and the anthemic chorus, but it sounds like it needs way more creative ideas.
A lot of songs have the same chugga chugga that bores me a bit, so i'd like to see the guys doing something more diverse with the guitars. More guitar solos would be nice, too and maybe some drum solos here and there.
*An MTV unplugged album or something similar. The idea is recording a live acoustic set including songs from Fallen, TOD, EV3 and EV4. And maybe Origin if it's possible. And then releasing it on DVD.

I want another rock album, I was never really excited from sad ballads so songs like MHIB, MOS, NGB seems like the right way how to start. But more friggin solos please, Will solos and guys' guitar solos too and more Amy on a harp with weird electronic stuff around and yelling! There's so many "progressive" things you can use in rock. For example, i know that Terry likes Periphery and I love him for this suggestion.
And Amy, play more with your voice please, i love your low register, it always gave me chills... And give us a new live DVD, pretty plzzzzz *-*

I'm really gonna agree with many of the people around here. Even though I love Ev3, when it was released it felt as if it was just released to get some music out, and not because the songs were the best of best they could come up with. So, what I want from them: 1- Don't just force and have one producer per album. Have many producers, maybe a few on each song! This will most definitely spice things up and bring different tastes per album!!! Some people I know find Ev3 boring because after some time all songs sound the same... This can avoid that 2- Work with unexpected people. Write with some kind of pop artist, get a song or two produced by someone like David Guetta or do duets with interesting people. OK, David Guetta might be a little too far but that's the way it should be. 3- As others said, bring back the elements of choir that were present in Fallen and TOD, mix it with the heaviness of Ev3 and then add the unique spin that's to be found on the new songs. 4- Re-record some old demos from pre-fallen or songs that are not released with the new producers and Ev4 elements. 5- I think the last thing they should do is go independant. VERY little promotion = absolute unknown = no sales 6- Strong instrumentals, with loads and loads of drums and violins and piano as the main instruments, creating a very hard sound out of this combination, with a huge production. 7- Get help with songwriting- not that it is not good enough, but just to get another perspective on the songs. 8- Get Ben Moody back. NOO!! Just kiddin' lol Line-up is fine Only problem now is that it shouldn't take 5 years!!!

^^I agree, rionka on Amy's low register. My ears would be pleased with less belting and a better use of her low register. Also, a list of words i wouldn't miss one bit: -heart -lie/lies -dark -darkness -dream -broken -bleed -bleeding -blood -oceans -myheartisbroken -sweetsleepmydarkangel -saygoodbye -breath -breathing -pain And probably more i don't remember.

Hmmm... I'm sort of hoping for the next album they really explore rhythm, bass, and percussion. More intricate phrasing and timing, less of those super long high notes. On the other hand, while I think it'd be cool if everything else was more rhythmic, the guitar could be more melodic. The next album definitely needs to show the other sides of Amy's voice. Listening to the current album all the way through leaves a dull ache in my ears because of how she's constantly belting. I think it'd be interesting if she did an entire song in her high voice like those parts in WotW and SH. There's also rare moments on the third album where she sings in her belting voice but without all the layers that make it so hard to take after a while. The verses of Erase This are probably the clearest example of Amy's real belting voice without all the audio meddling. Oceans' verses comes to mind too, though there's a slight distortion in that song.
It would be interesting to have Amy go full keyboardist too, playing the synths and whatnot instead of the piano here and there...

I think that there's a pretty good chance that there will be another Ev album because Amy said in an interview that they had a lot of songs for almost two albums...
And what I want in the new album is to sign with another label,Wind-Up is sh*t
And like what Ozbil said,Work with unexpected people,And David Guetta would be amazing with Ev
Add the choir,We absolutely miss 'em
Try and get David Hodges back,I miss him!

Agreeing with a lot of peeps here, I think they've reached the point where Wind Up is holding back their creativity. Wind Up did a great job with the success of Fallen, but a label like Nuclear Blast would be far more appropriate nowadays. Evanescence have grown and have the potential to be a lot heavier than they were in the past. I can't help but think that thanks to Wind Up we're not hearing Ev at their most raw and honest, and considering that raw and honest music is what Evanescence has been all about from the start it's probably time to move on. This may even come with another drop in record sales, but from my own selfish perspective at least, I reckon the sacrifice is worth it. I want to hear Evanescence, not a version of Evanescence that's been tamed for the general listener! Edit - I've also realised that arguably their most generic and 'rocky' song from the last record Sick was purportedly written about the record label. If this is true then I wonder if Amy was teasing Wind Up with a spot of irony?

First of all I'm Ozbil hahah I just wasn't logged in, since this is not my primary board Second of all, I really REALLY think that we can't handle another drop in the record sales. Did Evanescence go even gold in the states? NO! Did it sale one million worldwide? I don't think so. TOD sold 7m and Ev3 sold like 0.8m. thats nearly 1/10 of drop. Wind-Up is s--t but independent is too dangerous. At least they bothered to release all kinds of amazing pre-order bundles. Those bundles really helped reaching no1 the first week IMO. The pre-release promotion was well done. So... They should find a good label instead of going independent, who will let them release whatever they want and promote it properly. If promoted good enough, EV has the potential to go multi-platinium again. It did twice!
