Amy talked to the fans in Youtube's chatroom before and while the video premiered, here are her words: So each of us had a private confessional with Paul (director), about our individual demons- the monster within, the struggle, the thing we can't contain. None of us knew the other band member's theme. ....until seeing the edit. When you watch the video, you'll be seeing each of us in our individual struggle with what lies within....All of a sudden I am very concerned for Troy I feel like there is a lot of self loathing from what I've seen. I love Troy and I hope he knows his value <3

I love Troy and I hope he knows his value <3 Troy's parts hit me the hardest. I like how we've gotten to know him more, recently. And seeing him and Amy have their moment performing for the Metal Hammer show was magical. I also hope he knows that he's a huge part of what pulled Ev back up during the John/Rocky fiasco and that he continues to bring his own uniqueness to the band and we love it. I don't know how Amy got so damn lucky with her current lineup. I really love the video concept for TGIO. Amy seems to be really pushing herself to do her best work and give us something we haven't experienced from the band yet, and it's paying off. The natural feeling of involvement from the entire band is also a breath of fresh air. I know Amy pushed a band focus during the Ev3 era but it felt kind of forced. I love seeing that each member is excited for us to see their contributions to the art and it warms my heart.

Overall I liked the video. Some pretty cool effects and I like the creepiness of Amy in the monkey mask.Again well done to them making something with limited budget and professional recording equipment. However I really hope that this will be the last of the home made videos though. I thank them for doing it for us (I don’t want to sound ungrateful lol )but I’m struggling to gather that Evanescence visual aesthetic for this era. I know they can’t help it though...

In that case why don't you do all of us a favour and make a vaccine for this virus? That way they won't be FORCED to make homemade videos. I really don't understand the logic of some fans. They owe us nothing! I'm grateful they have released something as someone said with very little budget and recording equipment and they have been creative in the process - it may not be perfect but this is the band's journey and visualisation of them. Appreciate it because who knows how tomorrow will be, the world could end before we know it!

Shin They were just putting across their thoughts, and to my mind very respectfully and acknowledging that Ev are very limited right now. It's possible to give constructive thoughts and criticism. If the band see it they may take some of it on board, or they may choose not to, completely up to them, but it shouldn't mean that us as fans can't get invested and have our own opinions about things too. That's what makes us fans, we care about their music even when we're finding fault.

Aaaaaand as predicted an angry fan who took what I said completely out of context. Maybe you could let people just say what they think without attacking them? Or without thinking that they’re being mean to the band? In fact - If I had any idea on making vaccines I would rather create one to stop you from posting over the top, drama queen comments. Log off if you can’t take a mature discussion on a different point of view apart from yours.
Just to to clarify and to round up my post about the video..liked it/ but looking forward to a normal evanescence videos again so it feels more immersive.

*dons mod hat* tezbear_91 Try to keep things civil and avoid personal attacks if possible. We're all fans of the band at the end of the day. If we can focus on discussing the song on this thread then it makes my life a lot easier xD

Just to to clarify and to round up my post about the video..liked it/ but looking forward to a normal evanescence videos again so it feels more immersive. Excuse me? I'm sick to death reading negative comments about the band. Especially on YT. I didn't take it out of context. I used yours as an example and quote a lot of people read this boatd. Under NORMAL circumstances if they produced something like this then fair enough but there is a lot of limitations, so what more do you expect? It's fans like you who put them to shame and make them hate what they're doing. They have freedom, so let them explore that. If you really hate PR Brown producing the videos, then collectively do something and let them know just like they've put the WOY fan video together - they more than likely will take that on board. Contact Jen even, she more social media inclined than the rest. But what you're expecting is beyond ridiculous. We don't know how much more longer this pandemic is going to continue on for and especially with infection rates going up in US, there's no chance soon for Jen to meet up with the rest of the band, let alone the band being able to meet each other. So how are they supposed to record a "professional" video. The world could end soon so stop moping and enjoy it. Not saying you have to enjoy everything they put out. However, to keep the momentum going they're releasing material in a timely manner to keep up to schedule. They could've put it all on pause to make something more "professional". But then everyone will be moaning why aren't they releasing an album yet? It's been 10 years etc. They'll continue to take the same approach with the next video so what you going to say then? No matter what, I appreciate what band members do almost with EMPTY hands, to give us something and let this album happen according to the plan. Everything aside, for me this is the most beautiful part in the both released videos so far. Of course this video is not Everybody's Fool with Amy wheelieing a race bike or Lithium with a pond in a frozen forest or WYW and falling from Brooklyn bridge... but to be honest I find something even more beautiful in it. Couldn't agree more. Can you imagine if the band states they did all this themselves? Would the opinion change? Probably. I feel like with what's going on atm the band is trying to write and shape this album to as close as today's affairs rather than write over a number of years. They're channelling their views through the music which will help them stay relevant. *dons mod hat* tezbear_91 Try to keep things civil and avoid personal attacks if possible. If we can focus on discussing the song on this thread then it makes my life a lot easier xDI do apologise but I am sick of hearing what the "fans" want. Maybe it's about time the band did what they want. The label forced them to be a certain way for the fans, instead it lost them traction. I more than 100% support them, I won't always 100% agree with what the put out but at least I respect their decisions and what they want out of their situation.

I hear ya and I think they are doing, which is great to see. Amy's definitely not holding back on the lyrics and I must admit having watched the video a few more times with the information about what PR Brown asked them to do, it makes a lot more sense and we really are seeing everyone at their most vulnerable, which is powerful stuff. Still feel like more could have been done to make it flow better, but again that's just my personal feelings on it and they may change when I go back to it in a different mindset. Just to reiterate, please avoid personal attacks. As long as we're not attacking each other or members of the band then constructive criticism is absolutely fine. Rules 2 and 12 on here if anybody needs refreshing

At first I didn't admire it as much but I thought to myself WOW, this is different and after a few views it's grown on me a lot. I watched it on full brightness on my phone and I admire most of the shots, some I don't like but that'd be down to the video quality of each member's phone. I actually want them to do the home video route for next few singles whilst working on promotion for when this whole album comes out. If it helps them generate more income to continue and release Ev5 in 2-3 years then I'm down for that. I'm also wondering if Amy is working on Recover 2.0.

Shin (goes off topic momentarily, sorry fellow mods ) I was only listening to Recover Vol 1 the other day and was thinking the same thing! It could be even better now she's had more time and more influences to draw from. Definitely something to look forward to if that's something she still wants to do. Yeah that is a good point actually (with regards to home videos). Doing it this way definitely reduces production costs even if their hands are tied anyway and actually when you do consider that this was done using iPhones it is very impressive the results they've been getting. If you compare some of the stills from WoY with the shots from my potato camera in the fan video it's miles apart. Just shows that they've got enough creativity between them to make it work even without the big production costs.

The part about people calling the police on Amy, rofl. I don't have much to saay about the video, It has some cool shots, some meh ones, Not impressed by some of the acting . At the same time it's interesting to hear about the process of making the video, that bit about everyone gathering with Brown to talk about their demons and then seeing how those are represented in the video was interesting, we are definitely seeing a new side of the band, everyone is opening up, I like that. They did archieve what they wanted I think, which was making something different from what they did with WoY. Different from everything they've done actually. What I'm liking the most about this era is how involved all the members are. Someone said that they sort of tried to do that on Ev3 but it did not feel completely natural and I agree. This feels more genuine, which makes me wonder if Wind-Up had anything to do with the fact that the band's image has always been ridiculously focused on Amy. When Rocky and John left the band Amy took a lot of criticism, I think many people see her as someone with a diva personality that wants all the attention for herself, which is not the case going by these releases. So I hope this approach continues after the pandemic.

Great news about the US iTunes. When was the last time Ev got a single so high? And not far behind The Weeknd as well. Let’s hope it keeps climbing higher.
