This version gives a lot of space to Amy's voice. She can really shine there and the delivery is beautiful. But I don't feel the same epicness as in TOD. The orchestration doesn't sound that powerful. So I'm waiting to hear it live to give my final opinion. When the theremin came in at first, I thought it was Amy's voice. I just love the fact that this instrument (that sounds so much like a voice sometimes) is played by Jen who sang backing vocals on the last tour. It's like she is providing backing vocals, again, but differently (Do you see what I mean?). Oh wow, so THAT is the thermin sound? I also thought it was Amy's operatic voice. However, that short part sounds like an Elfman/Burton collaboration, lol.

My only nitpick is that I wish the theremin was more present, instead of just from 2:55 to 2:59. Maybe it's in other parts of the song, but with all the instruments it will be hard to tell until we get the instrumentals. I agree, the theremin is such a cool instrument, I wish it were a bit more pronounced.

Tough chocie between this and the original for sure, I can't decide, I feel they are both awesome for different reasons. Love Amy's voice in this version and the little background electronic noises, I think that's an aspect I am going to love in all the synthesis songs, I'm dying to hear NGB, think it's going to be one of my faves. While the original is so powerful with the backround choir and the heavy guitars and drums. My only nitpick is that I wish the theremin was more present, instead of just from 2:55 to 2:59. Maybe it's in other parts of the song, but with all the instruments it will be hard to tell until we get the instrumentals. Same. Would like to see them using it in their next record with brand new songs too.

I read in an interview a while ago that Jen also used the theremin a bit on her upcoming solo album, so we have that to look forward to!

There is now the Theremini that is more like a synth but you play it like a theremin with the antennas.

This version has been on repeat since its release! Miles better than the original TOD version...and that was one of my favorites on TOD. I think my favorite moment was the first initial impact of the orchestra right before the part "Now that your gone...". Super head banging moment, even though it's backed by orchestra and synths. This song gives me so much goosebumps... very well done.
Side note: not that I have been watching the newer seasons, but don't you heart this song in a new season of AHS? lol.

I'm not sure why this is being called a single on social media. Evanescence is even calling it their "new track". This isn't a single as of yet.
Sorry, this has been irking me since Friday....

Singles don't really mean the same thing as they used to to be fair. Releasing songs before the release of an album is just a way of promoting it.

Eh, to me, it's not a single unless it gets "special treatment". To each his own, I guess.

I've listened to this before the release of the album but waited to listen to it with the rest of the album to give an opinion. The beginning of the song is incredibly eerie, I love it. I have always loved Lacrymosa and this version is nice, but I think there's some sort of magic in the TOD version that couldn't be captured here. Still, it's nice.

My opinion may be unpopular, but this one has grown on me. It's not my favorite on the album, but I appreciate it more and more for what it is.

I'd like to point out that I'm an uber-dork and thought this was the BMTL thread and that comment was meant for that song, because I actually adore the new Lacrymosa. Imma derp. My opinion may be unpopular, but this one has grown on me. It's not my favorite on the album, but I appreciate it more and more for what it is.

I'm not sure where somebody said it, but they said that there's a part where the theremin is only used once and it sounds like Amy's voice, but it's not on the instrumental track...so maybe it really is Amy's voice?!
It's at 2:52

It's at 2:52 If you watch videos of the live performances, Jen isn't playing the theremin during Lacrymosa. I think it's Amy's vocals as well.

Huh that's so cool if it really is her voice! I thought it was just spooky theremin but wow!
