Wow! so beautiful! so ear catching! the Mozart piece, the lyrics, Amy's voice and those high notes... they are all so perfect that you can't not love this track. rock/orchestra or electro/orchestra. And I'm just saying this from my own personal point of view. For me this whole album is more like some kind of bonus. I look at it that way. like a very big dlc for a video game. I try not to compare the songs in this album to their original versions and say which one's better. I'm just happy that different versions of some of my most beloved songs are available now and I can listen to them and let my ears be surprised a little in a totally different genre (and even atmosphere) and after listening thousands of time to the older versions and knowing the right place of every single note and word in my mind. Lacrymos, BMTL, and any other song in this album will always remain what they've always been. I mean they will definitely remain in the list of the best tracks I've ever heard in my life and this album just gives me a different experience than what I've had so far. this album simply could even not exist at all but I'm just glad to see it happened. I'm so satisfied with such high quality in remaking the songs that i've always felt so special about them. you can clearly feel that passion, attention, and a hard team work in every second of it and I really couldn't ask for anything more. sorry, just my opinion

First listen. I love the dynamic. It has a lot more than the original. It just gets louder and more restrained than the TOD version. I also love the electronic drone in the intro and the stunted violins. I also adore the outro. The only thing that bothered me was the mixing. I still need to listen to it through a few different devices but through my headphones there was just far too much in the midrange (not the fault of my headphones before people start pointing out the obvious). As soon as the orchestra takes off, the synthetic sounds just clash with it in a big way so it's just noisy and messy. I feel like they should have either put more bass on the electronics to give it a more dubsteppy vibe or just panned the instruments further apart so they're coming from a greater variety of directions. There's just too much going on at once. That said, this makes me feel like this could be incredible live. It's one thing to get that variety of sounds together in a single studio recording, but when you've got lots of musicians doing that in a big arena with more space for the sound to disperse I feel like it would work a lot better. Really excited to hear this one as it was meant to be heard. Edit: Turns out some of it was my headphones after all. There's some very subtle panning that my headphones weren't picking up fully. Definitely sounds better if you've got 5 or more speakers to play with Still an almost complete lack of meaningful bass though. I NEED BASS IN MY LIFE.

I can't wait for my 5.1 mixed dvd to come!

I love this version! The original was one of my favorite tracks on TOD, this does not disappoint.

You beat me to it! I was going to say that one of my favorite parts of this song is that Amy is singing the old latin chorus from the original. I feel like the choir would have been a perfect fit for this record, I'm relatively pleased they didn't as to avoid it being too much considering this concept was about taking certain elements out. I actually didn't even notice that part until my third or fourth listen. As far as which version is my favorite....I"m leaning more towards the "Synthesis" rendition, but when I throw on TOD version on, I still get the goose pimples. I think what I love about this one more than the rock version is that it's closer in line with Mozart's aesthetic, which is purely classical, no guitars or drums, granted there is a choir and an absence of eletronica, but who's really keeping tabs? Overall, I'm in love with it. It's very refreshing and I can definitely hear the improvements in Amy's vocals. Get it, girl! Two things- 1) I miss the opening sound. It was weird, dark and I liked it. I always got the imagery of someone trapped in a coffin pounding to get out. I have no idea why, lmao. 2) I never knew the choir was singing the word "Lacrymosa". Unless it was changed that way for this song. You can also hear Amy sing "Lacrymosa" too.

What the choir sings in the TOD version and what Amy signs in this version goes: "Lacrimosa dies illa" which is just the first lyric of the original work by Mozart and it translates to "Mournful that day". What I never got is why did they change the spelling of the title and put Y instead of I. And one more thing I just realised - I have expected this version to have the actual choir in it as it kinda goes with the whole orchestra thing, but it doesn't. And I just became aware of that while I was writing about the choir in the above paragraph. Be that as it may, I still have been listening to it on repeat ever since I got my hands on it. Bring forth the entire album! :-)

THAT ending. It leaves me with goosebumps every single time! Also really love the beginning of the song. The way she sings the first verse, fantastic! Kinda miss the guitar solo of Terry to be completely honest, but for me, the rest of the song surpasses the TOD version. Can't wait to see it performed live!

My favourite part is actually that drone at the end. The way it feels like it's reaching a crescendo and then stops short and leaves the ominous bassy drone. It has the same foreboding quality of Aftermath which I absolutely love.

That was great!
My one criticism is in the intro. At like :18 seconds it kinda does that stop and repeat thing with the melody there and it was kinda jarring to me. It was like trying to mimic electronic style stuff but with actual instruments. Maybe the tempo didn't fit with that little trick? Not sure how I'd fix it but it's no big deal tho because the rest is amazing.

My only nitpick is that I wish the theremin was more present, instead of just from 2:55 to 2:59. Maybe it's in other parts of the song, but with all the instruments it will be hard to tell until we get the instrumentals.

This version gives a lot of space to Amy's voice. She can really shine there and the delivery is beautiful. But I don't feel the same epicness as in TOD. The orchestration doesn't sound that powerful. So I'm waiting to hear it live to give my final opinion.
When the theremin came in at first, I thought it was Amy's voice. I just love the fact that this instrument (that sounds so much like a voice sometimes) is played by Jen who sang backing vocals on the last tour. It's like she is providing backing vocals, again, but differently (Do you see what I mean?).
