This song really just shows off Amy's voice. She reaches notes beyond some of greatest singers out there. The end whistle note matches Mariah Carey

Unpopular opinion: I don't think this one need to be touched.
Ok, I'll go now...

At first I missed the choir. I quickly realised during snippets etc that there would be no choir on this album, which I felt was a shame because choir and orchestra kind of go hand in hand. But the more I read about Amy's intentions with this album, focusing on the sounds and vocals, it made more sense. But still I was like ... how are you going to do Lacrymosa without a choir?
Now I'm glad they didn't. Amy gets to show off her voice so much more on this version. I love that she did some of the choir parts quite softly on one chorus. I love that she spiced up the end herself to make it a bit more epic. And I absolutely love the instrumental choices they made - especially during the intro. Definitely one of my favourites, and now I've got two very different, gorgeous versions to listen to.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think this one need to be touched. Ok, I'll go now... I agree! I just can't bring myself to love it as much as I want to. There are some cool electronic bits I love about it but for the most part it falls flat for me. A big part of what makes the original Lacrymosa so amazing for me is the choir and how it grows heavier and more majestic as the song goes on. Especially the 'Not this time, I won't lie to keep you near me' bit, it gives me chills just thinking about it! And the way the song ends is just f*cking epic.

mydnyghtamethyst & whitewolf no need to go or hide your opinions in spoiler tags. We are allowed to have our opinions. This is a discussion board, and in discussions, no everyone agrees! Personally, I'm not sure which version I like better. I like both for what they are. I'm finding it hard to find which one I prefer and it's kind of irking me a bit. lol.

Looking at the score and listening to the instrumental album, I think this is the song in the Making of where Amy was playing the piano and she said "I really like that holding out. It was a mistake, but let's keep it."

After hearing this in Inside Synthesis it just made me even more excited to hear the album and in concert! And after the release of the album and hearing it live, Amy again, does not disappoint. Definitely one of my favorites because not only is it beautiful and haunting, but you can really capture Amy's raw vocals and hear that talent we all love.

I don't know why, but everytime I listen to this version of Lacrymosa I imagine skeletons in victorian styled clothing ballroom dancing in a victorian styled ballroom.
I always have some kind of scene I imagine with any song I listen too.

Whenever I hear TOD Lacrymosa I always see a street at night, but when I hear the Synthesis version, I also get some ballroom vibes. I like your skeleton idea - that'd be a rad music video.

What about skeletons in Victorian attire in a ballroom made to look like a lit street, in the woods! Paging Disneyland. Please replace current ghost music in the ballroom of the Haunted Mansion with Lacrymosa (Synthesis). And proceed to make all the cars get stuck there for the duration of the song.

Does anybody know if it’s one of her highest ever? She also hit it effortlessly live. It's a C6. Her highest note in any album (as far as I am aware) is a C#6 in Weight Of The World at 2:46 and then again at 2:50-51. I hope that helps. Also, for the person you are replying to... the highest note ever sung by a female is a G10, which is more than four octaves higher than the C6. Amy's C6 is not in the whistle register, and Mariah Carey's highest recorded note is a G#7, which is more than an octave higher than the C6. I mean... the note is pretty high, and it is beautiful, but... yeah, no. Not even close.

When we first got this song confirmed, I honestly wasn't excited about a new Lacrymosa since the original version already had such a strong classical presence - I guess I didn't think they could do anything more exciting. And if I ever wanted more of the raw classical elements, I'd just listen to some Mozart. But HOLY CRAP this is so cool. I wasn't hyped for Lacrymosa before but I am now... I didn't know I needed another version of this song but I did. Even from the preview, I can tell this version is shining in its own unique little way and I'm all over it. It makes me so excited for all the other material - Ev are definitely pushing themselves to do something artistic and wonderful for this project. I'm so excited to hear this one in full. I think I'm just going to second this comment as it's pretty much what my thoughts were. I always loved Lacrymosa, and couldn't imagine how they could "synthesize" it, but it turned out really cool! I'm not even sure if one is better than the other. I mean, I still feel a lean towards the original, but the song is the song either way, so I'd listen and enjoy whichever version is playing. Definitely a top track on this album too, for me.
