Since we clearly hear Lacrymosa in the first "Making of Synthesis" video...figured we could start discussing it. What are your thoughts of it? I think this is the song I am most eager to hear in it's entirety. When I heard Amy sing the line "I can't change who I am" and those high notes....I get goosebumps. The little 35 second preview I have looped so much today... not even joking!!! lol. Surprising me enough, I think I might like this version better than the original which I wasn't expecting because Lacrymosa is one of my all time favorites.
This song, from our second album, The Open Door, is built around the classic Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem K.626. Mozart's music is one of the inspirations of our sound, and this is our homage.
I can't change who I am
0:11 - 0:38
Out on your own Cold and alone again Can this be what you really wanted, baby?
0:59-1:10
Now that you’re gone I feel like myself again Grieving the things I can’t repair and willing
(Lacrimosa) To let you blame it on me (dies illa) And set your guilt free (Lacriomosa) I don’t want to hold you back now, love
I can’t change who I am Not this time, I won’t lie to keep you near me And in this short life, There’s no time to waste on giving up My love wasn’t enough
2:39-2:55
Ahhhhh To let you blame it on me And set your guilt free I don’t want to hold you back now, love
Ahhhhh oohhhhhh ahhhhhh

Aw man, Amy just took this song to the next level. She just soars over the orchestra and takes off when she starts the high notes my god. Brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it, I couldn't believe it. I can't wait to hear this in person live.

I'm liking this Lacrymosa preview more than anything else I heard from Synthesis so far, and I wasn't even all that much of a fan of it on The Open Door. it's like this album's idea was made for this song as it breathes a whole new life to it! hopefully the full version is as great as it seems from this preview.

I'm listening to the snippet in repeat.
All I can say is: Now, this IS Evanescence. Something we have been waiting for since the first Lillywhite clips. This band has very bright future in front of them, and I couldn't be happier to follow up this journey!

The deep vocals in the 3rd video are breathtaking. I'm so glad they're doing this album but now I just want all of their songs remade with Amy's experienced techniques

Her voice sounds "normal" to me in this. Well compared to the Synthesis version of BMTL where it sounds really deep? I dunno, BMTL sits weirdly with me. But I'm so happy this doesn't sound odd. Super excited for it! Especially those high notes, omg. And I wonder how it will be without the choir too.

It's interesting you say you didn't like it on TOD and like it now...I think that's pretty cool. I've never been a big fan of Never Go Back or EOTD so I'm pretty excited to see if my opinion changes on those two.. Could be because she was trying to achieve those high notes maybe? I agree...BMTL was sounding very deep. I think Amy was trying to reimagine in at a new note...and I mean like she said BMTL was the hardest to reimagine.

I wonder if this was what she was working on when she posted about "Todays mission: Hit That Note!".
From the sound clips, I feel it's going to be a fantastic track!

When we first got this song confirmed, I honestly wasn't excited about a new Lacrymosa since the original version already had such a strong classical presence - I guess I didn't think they could do anything more exciting. And if I ever wanted more of the raw classical elements, I'd just listen to some Mozart.
But HOLY CRAP this is so cool. I wasn't hyped for Lacrymosa before but I am now... I didn't know I needed another version of this song but I did. Even from the preview, I can tell this version is shining in its own unique little way and I'm all over it. It makes me so excited for all the other material - Ev are definitely pushing themselves to do something artistic and wonderful for this project. I'm so excited to hear this one in full.

Ive just listened to the 1.33 pereview thats going around, will wait until midnight to listen to it properly. Its so weird having a new version of Lacrymosa. Does anyone else still sing it in their head the way it was spliced together in that Open Door Preview thingy?

When I saw the track list included this I was straight in when the tickets came out for London. This has to be my favourite of all Ev songs. Thanks for this thread. This is my first ever post on here. Keep up the good work.

It's up on Apple Music here in Russia already. Too bad I have to go to sleep now instead of giving it a listen :/
