By the way have they released a timetable yet? I still don't know if I'm going to be able to catch a train back to Tokyo after the festival lol I haven't been to a concert or festival that ends after 9 pm and trains run until about midnight so I'm sure you won't have a problem. oh wow that's so early! Festivals and concerts here usually don't finish until like 11pm so I would worry about missing the train, but if it would finish that early then there should be no problem!

Really?! Most concerts or festivals I've ever been to finish at 11pm. Headliners for any festivals I've ever attended go on about 8:30-9:00pm. It's Japan. Everything is well planned. If most of the crowd came by train, they should be able to leave the same way. When I went to Summersonic Osaka a couple of years ago, there were shuttle buses connecting the train station and the island where the festival is held every half an hour. Metallica were headlining and I clearly remember leaving before 9 pm. There was a timetable and artists stuck to it. No delays. The whole transportation process was very smooth too.

Finally got my tickets to the show. I seriously cannot believe this. Me and my boyfriend will be traveling from Saint Paul, Minnesota to Tokyo a couple days before the show and are staying for 9 days. I seriously still don't even believe this is happening. It was such an impulsive thing to do. When I first saw the dates posted for Ozzfest back in August me and my boyfriend immediately booked our hotel and plane tickets. I can't believe it took us this long to get the concert tickets but we have been paying off the plane and hotel since August. Now it is all happening. How many of us from the states are going? People think I am crazy for traveling across the world to see Amy. I have always wanted to go to Tokyo and so has my boyfriend. In my mind Evanescence is the perfect excuse. We all know how much Amy connects to Japan.

And I finally booked bus tickets. My credit card is weeping because I didn't take into account the fact that it will be a long weekend, everybody will travel and prices will go through the roof. I kept waiting for the prices to drop but it was about time to book when only 2 seats were left on the bus to Makuhari. This also means that I'll probably be stuck at the back of the bus. Hello, motion sickness...
Anyway, see you soon.

Hello, motion sickness... Anyway, see you soon. The train line runs hourly and you don't need to reserve tickets. I guess it depends on where you are coming from, but Tokyo has the best train line in the world and connects to every district and runs through the center of the city so it doesn't seem like you should have a problem

I'm aware of the qualities of the Tokyo metro system but I don't live in Tokyo. I'm coming from 500 km away and the train for this distance either costs a small fortune or takes forever. I booked a ticket for a night bus which will deliver me straight to Makuhari on Saturday morning. It was twice the expected price but still a lot cheaper than the bullet train.

Sorry that was dumb of me. Your post actually made me panic for a good portion of the day yesterday because I thought I was going to have to book tickets for transportation in advance. I have never been to Japan or even out of the US. I don't know what I was talking about

I have never been to Japan or even out of the US. I don't know what I was talking about Sorry for scaring you too. Chiba and Tokyo are well connected and you have nothing to worry about. Actually, the whole country is well connected. I'm just far and not rich enough for the shinkansen so I have to think in advance. Edit for people going to Ozzfest: download the Japan Connected-free Wi-Fi app. It's very useful for annoying wifi networks that make you log in every 20 minutes because it does it for you and the best part is that you don't have to deal with registration instructions in Japanese. The app covers a lot of places in the Tokyo area AND Makuhari Messe, which is great news for the people with e-tickets. Coverage around Tokyo (bolded the most useful ones): Shopping: 7-11, FamilyMart, LAWSON, Mori Building Co., Ltd., Mitsui Fudosan Retail Management Co., Ltd., BIGFUN Heiwajima, Premium Outlets, MATSUYA GINZA, HARAJUKU QUEST, First Avenue Tokyo Station Airports: Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, ANA LOUNGE Train: JR, Tokyo MetroCities and areas: Tokyo Marunouchi area, etc. (Mitsubishi Estate Co.) ,DoSPOT, Hikari Station Others: NISSAN GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS GALLERY, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Tokyo Big Sight, Makuhari Messe, SEIBU DOME Apart from the app, there is free wifi on some city buses, in McDonald's, Starbucks and some department stores. Other useful stuff: hyperdia.com - you can plan your trip on any railway system in Japan (airplanes are included but I wouldn't recommend it for flight search) Tokyo Subway Navigation for Tourists - official Tokyo Subway app but not the original that comes only in Japanese Map of Makuhari Messe - lockers, ATMs, wifi spots... everything you might need to find during the festival

Not that I've researched this at all, but is ozzfest recorded? Has it been in the past? I'm really hoping for a good quality video from at least one of the shows they'll be playing. I hope we can get more than just phone recordings!

The final schedule is up: ozzfestjapan.com/timetable/I don't know what we'll do during the day but my plan for the evening is to see BFMV and then stay there until it's time for Ev to come out so we can have the best view possible.

I think Liz wants to be up the front all day, but I don't think I can not go to the toilet that long! I was hoping they would have a signing tent during the day maybe?

I have no idea. There were signing sessions at Summersonic. People had to line up for tickets for them and there were 100 tickets per artist. They ran out of BFMV tickets just when I started thinking I might actually make it. I haven't seen any announcements for signing sessions during Ozzfest yet. The only official M&G (with Ozzy) comes with the VIP tickets for the second day.
As for standing up front all day - there's no way anyone can stand there 10+ hours without toilet, water and food. Also, mosh pits can be exhausting even when it isn't hot. In my opinion, if we position ourselves well for BFMV, we can get an even better spot when people move to the other stage for Vamps.

To those who live in Japan, or have been there, I need your help! Lol
This will be my first international trip, and I need advice for exchanging my US Dollars for the Yen. I was originally thinking about bringing cash, and exchanging it at the airport, but I found mixed reviews about that online. What do you all think of that? (BTW, I am bringing my debit/credit/ATM card in case of emergency, and my bank knows I'll be in Japan. I'm just a bit iffy about using them abroad).
Thanks!
