You got a point. I have no doubt that it's second nature for her to sing and play concurrently. She is a true vocalist and pianist at heart. I just can't help but notice how off key she can sometimes be when she plays those two songs specifically. In regular performances where she's not playing anything, I'd say she's pretty spot on. Seeing this performance of Erase This just got me thinking. She could've gotten worn right before the song, but then she nailed Whisper right after? lol Idk Like VMNT said, it's usually pretty second nature. It's amazing what the human brain can do once it's been drilled a few times. If you think about it, just playing the drums involves some pretty insane multi tasking (two hands and two feet all doing different things at more or less the same time). That said. I tend to find it's easier to hit notes when standing up rather than sitting down. I'm sure there's some science behind it (diaphragm or some such) that somebody would be able to explain, but this might have an impact. Also, if for whatever reason, Amy makes a mistake on the piano, that could throw off the timing of the vocals for a split second (shouldn't impact whether it's in key at all). I think it's just to do with the difficulty of the songs in question and the fact she's stuck sitting down at a piano rather than stood up, but I see what you mean about all the non-piano versions of MHIB being a lot better vocal-wise :/ Difficult to be sure. Edit: and yeah she always nails Whisper. It's right bang in the middle of her vocal range, and it's a pretty old one. I'd guess by now she doesn't even need to think about singing that one, it just sort of happens (she's probably standing there planning her evening meal or some sh*t when they play that song live). Kind of gutted that she rarely sings that upper register operatic bit before the guitar solo anymore, though. The mid range belt there, just doesn't do it for me. My take on this, after watching some of her songs while she's sitting at the piano, is that her posture, while playing the piano and singing, is not very great. As a voice teacher, one of the most important things I get on my students about is their posture. If the alignment of your body isn't straight, then vocal production suffers immensely. If you see Amy's performances on the piano, she hunches forward to sing into the microphone. Not only that, but her songs are very vocally demanding, and to try to sing all those high notes while sitting with poor posture is not going to go well. With poor posture, the air flow from the lungs > trachea > larynx > throat/nose/mouth becomes inefficient. If she was my student, I'd tell her to move the microphone to where she could play and sing without hunching over.

The show was amazing! Somehow we made it to the front. Got so crushed during BFMV but it was worth it. Amy waved at me and ev_chick89 during the show. At first i wasnt sure if she waved at us so the second time i waved and she waved back hehe it was so cool! Looked like she was having so much fun on stage. I woudnt be suprised if she wanted to do more shows Also they cut the setlist case they had to for the festival, made sense that they cut the whole acoustic part out Vocally amy was amazing, there were just a few hiccups with wrong lyrics and her signaling to someone off stage about the sound, but i thought it sounded fine so maybe it was the sound in her ear piece The Ev towel is super cool, aparently a popular thing at shows in Japan, but they should totally make more next tour, they are very nice

This really was the best day ever. I want to start by thanking ev_chick89 , Lycrymosa and everyone else in our small group who made the already great experience even better. That's what I've always missed - sharing the excitement with people who feel exactly the same way. The waiting time passes much faster when you're surrounded by people who are the same kind of crazy. I'm glad I had the chance to meet these people and I hope it wasn't the last time. I already miss you all. We met fartheraway too for a couple of minutes and I have a feeling I was standing not far from xdershiz during the concert. That's the highest concentration of EvThreaders in one place I've ever experienced I haven't been to many Evanescence concerts in the past so my opinion is based only on a show from the Ev3 era but still, I think there was a big improvement in the way the band sounded. Amy's voice was a lot clearer and more stable than I remembered it and having Jen sing the back vocals to some of the songs was definitely a good idea. The whole band seemed to be having a blast on stage and the audience enjoyed every minute of the set. I 'll be very happy if they decide to release the footage from the show because it was impressive (and not only Ev's part). Probably the most unexpected twist of the day was that there actually was a M&G. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be talking face to face with the band, let alone be hugged by Amy. It was surreal. I still can't believe it happened and I'm grateful to the people who made it possible. I was so freaked out, I don't even remember clearly some moments of it but those were 5 minutes that made not just my day but the whole year. I was amazed by how down-to-earth and friendly they all were with us. They, on the other hand, were very excited to see that fans from all corners of the world went all the way there just to see them. I'm so sad it's over but I'm glad it happened. Here are some pics I took. The quality isn't great but I like them anyway.

Very cool to meet those of you that I met briefly! This was my third Ev show, and I took to the front of the mosh. I really enjoyed myself and the show, but that being said I was disappointed overall as it was basically the same show I saw in 2011, but with less old songs and not as good sound! I really wish they were able to change it up a bit performance wise at least! The best part was BMTL when Amy got the crowd to sing a long. I'm not a sucker for that kind of stuff but it made that last song just that little bit more fun! I really hope I get a chance to see them play their own show again, rather than at a festival as I think the set list was very much to try and fit in with the rest of the acts! Also Jen is awesome.

I had promised to check the local magazines for reviews but so far there hasn't been anything interesting. A couple of magazines finally reported about Ozzfest this month but Ev's part is too small to bother buying them. Rockin' On has two photos and a couple of sentences about Ev and Burrn! only one small photo and the same amount of text. Meh.

Just wondering when the official recording will be out... I didn't think there would be an official recording? My understanding is that the camera's there were only used for the purposes of broadcasting the show on the big screens. They do this at most big festivals, but we never usually get a recording.

I think you're wrong. why would they hire a whole crew of cameramen, directors etc and simply don't record what they're filming. I really hope you're wrong

There were only a couple of camera men to get different angles and I didn't see anyone directing them the directing team are usually in a separate room backstage. they are the ones who direct what people see on the big screens not the cameramen. a place similar to this: also in such festivals, in addition to the cameramen on the stage, there are usually other cameras above the stage, behind where the crowd stand, and other hard to find spots far from the scene I may be wrong, but chances are high that I'm not. I hope I'm not

That concert had a big team like this because it was actually being shot in 3D to be recorded for MTV World Stage. There wasn't anything like this for the Japan show, sorry to disappoint, as much as I would love to see the footage, I don't think we will be seeing any of the footage that was streamed to the big screens at the festival as we never usually get this type of footage and there hasn't been anything announced saying that it would be recorded or streamed outside of the festival itself
