Like Shin said, the current situation changed their perspective on this release, and I'm not just speaking about the pandemic. I think it's pretty obvious (and Amy said as much) that the band wants to put out material as soon as possible. They are tired of waiting. And if they have to scrap their original plan for it -then so be it. I don't know exactly what my opinion is about this decision, but I definitely understand it. I'm tired of waiting too. I'm just incredibly frustrated by the whole situation. It would have been their first original record (through and through) without the pressure of a label, with the freedom of doing whatever they want...and then this pandemic happens and they have to make concessions It's like this band never freaking wins. With everything that happened in the last couple of years I just want life to give them a break and the opportunity to do exactly what they want to do (and intended to do), and be proud of it. Rant over - sorry. I have a feeling this album won't be their last. I really hope we're just entering a new chapter of Evanescence. I'm excited for what's to come this year and in the next chapter for the band!

Well we have no idea what the rest of the songs will sound like. Just because Amy has said one thing doesn’t make it a definitive description of what we will get. She’s said in the past that she doesn’t want to give us expectations of one thing only to change her mind potentially due to feeling pressured to be a certain sound...or go in a particular direction. She very much follows whatever her heart tells her and nothing less. I’d say take whatever she says about the album at this stage with a grain of salt.

Idk, I am kinda ready for no orchestra and no traditional piano ballad. After all they have done that formula pretty much on every album. If they feel they are leaving too many ideas out due to the damn pandemic, that may motivante them to release a fifth album sooner, who knows? I was really hoping less songs produced by Nick though, not a huge fan here, I was looking forward to the different textures. Amy confirmed this is the style they're going for - the opposite of Synthesis since they did the whole orchestration thing already so they want to rock out on this one but play around with synths more. I did mention this before and I strongly believe the next album will follow since Amy is shaping this album around the pandemic and today's situation.

I don't mind the direction of this album. I've gotten into the tracks so far but I'm definitely not as excited as I was for some of their other albums. The energy being advertised is something 16 year old me would have eaten right up, but I'm turning 30 and I guess I can't really relate to some of the angst and insecurities anymore. WOY feels like a mature perspective at the world but TGIO and UMV feel a bit childish. I'm hoping some of the lyrics on the other tracks have a more mature perspective like WOY or even Hi-Lo.
I'm also a lil disappointed at the no piano/vocal tracks. I get we just came off Synthesis but to be fair, neither that or Ev3 gave us a real dedicated p/v track. We got EiD on LW and Amy's grown so much with her compositions and I'd love to hear more.
One thing I really hope we get is a cohesive album. With the full album not being written before being named and themed, I hope when the full album is released it flows from beginning to end with thoughtful song transitions. So far, each song seems to stand strong on its own, but I'm not fully connecting the full picture of what this album is supposed to be. I hope when I hear the full thing it all comes together.

Also, if they are going with Take Cover, I hope Jen does all the background vocals. Her voice has that rock edge that fits so well <3

so long waiting for Perfect Dream or You Got A Lot To Learn, I hope Take Cover is not the only one of broken records, I will be disappointed if it is. Well prepared to be disappointed because it probably is. The other songs probably don't fit the theme of this album. Your Love is the other song I think that could make it on here because from the sound of the snippet of the demo, it seems like it could fit with this albums dynamics. Anyone getting massive MJ vibes? A cover of Dirty Diana would also for this albums vibe! Amy doesn't like Your Love anymore, we can forget about that song.

In a recent interview Amy confirmed that there will be a few more old songs on the new album. Fingers crossed so that one of them is Perfect Dream.

I like Take Cover but I hope it doesn't make it on the album and is released as a b-side.

I also wonder if we’ll finally (if ever) hear the studio version of Find a Way, or is that more of an Amy solo song?

Was Use My Voice supposed to be the first single for the album? Or have we still not heard that one yet?

So no piano ballad at all? *heavy sigh* They can do what they want, but the reason I fell in love with Evanescence was because of all the elements they combined into their earlier music to make their distinct sound. Amy's haunting voice, melodic piano, crunchy guitars, strings and choir, and the electronic sprinklings throughout. If the band takes out the softer more "feminine" elements of their music (piano ballads, stringed arrangements, choir), it will make them sound like a basic hard rock band and that is NOT what I want. I'm getting worried.
