Not sure if this was already known, but just found out from Amy in the Zoom call that Nick will be producing the whole album. By the sounds of this track, they'll be keeping the same kind of production so the album as a whole could sound a little more coherent than we were expecting up until now. I'll admit, that's somewhat disappointing. I was looking forward to the different styles and approaches. Yet, I see in light of everything, it makes sense to have everything be more cohesive.

I'm going to hold out hope for the deep cuts of the album. Those tend to be my favorite tracks tbh.
I hope they get kind of crazy with it

We're not getting the 4 seasons style album that we were expecting, but I feel like they satisfied a lot with the strings on Synthesis, they were bound to go more gritty this time.
Edit: just a random thought, but it's funny how this is turning out to be a heavier sounding album than we've ever had.

I like 'Take Cover' and I really want to have a proper studio version of it. But I agree with most of you: it would be better, if it was not included on the album. Well, having said that, I don't know if it is going to fit in the track list perfectly ... ^^ we'll see I guess.
To be honest: Ev3 is a great album, but another one sounding like that...? Hm... (I know I would complain less if it sounded more like The Open Door or Fallen, especially coming to the lyrics...)

It fits the albums theme. How is this like Ev3? This is a culmination of all their albums. You complain too much 😬 so long waiting for Perfect Dream or You Got A Lot To Learn, I hope Take Cover is not the only one of broken records, I will be disappointed if it is. Well prepared to be disappointed because it probably is. The other songs probably don't fit the theme of this album. Your Love is the other song I think that could make it on here because from the sound of the snippet of the demo, it seems like it could fit with this albums dynamics. Anyone getting massive MJ vibes? A cover of Dirty Diana would also for this albums vibe!

You complain too much 😬 No need to be offensive. I said "it WOULD be better if it was not included"... a conjunctive ... and an opinion, my opinion. So... the other sentence was about that I don't know how good it will fit (you don't either, because until now we all know only four songs, 'Take Cover' included). Maybe it fits perfectly and then it won't be bad that it is featured on that album (that was what I wanted to say, maybe you got me wrong because I didn't express it well). 'The Game is over' sounds Ev3ish to me... it's a cool song, but it doesn't sound "new". Just my opinion. 'Wasted on you' on the other hand sounds very new, that's right. I just listened to 'Use My Voice' once, so I can't say a lot about it until now.

I think it would serve us all better if we didn’t compare so much to other albums considering each one is its own beast and created at completely different points in Amy’s life.

I think we should be celebrating that we'll have 5 really distinct albums from them. You really could pick up one song and instantly know the era that it was from.

Opinion: I'm kinda sad about what we learned from the Radio.com interview. No traditional ballad that is piano-driven; likely no orchestra (though they're the idea is not completely out of the window); album seems heavy and more synth-dominated. I don't mind all the synth-stuff, but I was getting the impression this will show all sides of Evanescence, but now we're embracing only one side of Evanescence. I love the messages behind this new album, but the lack of that diversity element in its musical range is disappointing given the expectations that I built based on what I've been following.
I'm also sad that Nick is producing the whole album. Every single song released so far is spectacular, but has some parts that could have been done better.
On a last note, does anyone have specifics of "Open Door vibes" from this album? I'm really not catching them and I'm someone who's listened to TOD for ages.

I really think the complaining needs to stop. The pandemic has screwed up their original plan so they've had to compromise on what they can do. It's not like they can get an orchestra ready - I know some of you might be like "well they can use prerecorded sounds etc..." But you're forgetting these people are musicians, they're not super tech savvy and only just learned how to use social media etc. Again, I'll reiterate, they're pure musicians - give them a break. They're not writing songs to stand out from the crowd. Be grateful they're putting out an album. Most bands would delay this. They're working with what they have and against the clock to deliver. If anything, once this album is out of the way I'm sure once they've toured this next year into 2022, a follow-up won't be long after.

(I know I would complain less if it sounded more like The Open Door or Fallen, especially coming to the lyrics...) I'm happy Take Cover will finally see the light of day, but I believe it will sound completely from its 2016 live incarnation, given Amy's comment about a song from 10 years ago making it to the album completely reformed into a new thing. Yeah, I'm not happy about Nick producing the whole album too, but they will stick with him because of the pandemic, which ruined their plans. As for the lyrics, I'm loving them, they're more positive. For those expecting lyrics like on Fallen or TOD, you all should know that Amy is not in a dark place anymore. She's a happy person now, she loves her son and family. TOD lyrics were inspired by her breakup with Shaun, so that's why they're so dark. I don't think Your Love would fit the record. It comes from her sort of folk phase before her Ev3 electronic phase. And the theme doesn't really match with TBT. And Amy has moved on from it Haha. I'm not expecting to hear a HQ version of it, unless L&L releases it, but it seems unlikely. I'm a Lillywhite sessions enthusiast though. Haha.

If fans want ballads and a lot of orchestra, Synthesis exists, a full album with those elements, and maybe that's the reason why they won't be present in the new album, and look like they are taking advantage of Nick to make a heavier album (Although I don't like Nick works in Ev3).
Also I'm glad at least Take Cover it's part of the new album, so i can close the "Broken Record" phase in my mind finally lol

I can't speak for others, but I know myself that I like orchestral 'elements' and not full orchestras. I didn't particularly some of the re-arrangements made on Synthesis, such as Your Star and BMTL. That being said, many songs did benefit from a full orchestration (e.g. EOTD). My expectation for this album was to show all sides of Evanescence, including some songs with /some/ orchestral elements and the usual ballad. The problem with the "If you want orchestra, there's Synthesis" argument is that Synthesis was heavily orchestral, a passion project. Just sprinkle some of that onto these songs and we could get something really exceptional.

Like Shin said, the current situation changed their perspective on this release, and I'm not just speaking about the pandemic. I think it's pretty obvious (and Amy said as much) that the band wants to put out material as soon as possible. They are tired of waiting. And if they have to scrap their original plan for it -then so be it. I don't know exactly what my opinion is about this decision, but I definitely understand it. I'm tired of waiting too. I'm just incredibly frustrated by the whole situation. It would have been their first original record (through and through) without the pressure of a label, with the freedom of doing whatever they want...and then this pandemic happens and they have to make concessions It's like this band never freaking wins. With everything that happened in the last couple of years I just want life to give them a break and the opportunity to do exactly what they want to do (and intended to do), and be proud of it. Rant over - sorry.

Idk, I am kinda ready for no orchestra and no traditional piano ballad. After all they have done that formula pretty much on every album. If they feel they are leaving too many ideas out due to the damn pandemic, that may motivante them to release a fifth album sooner, who knows? I was really hoping less songs produced by Nick though, not a huge fan here, I was looking forward to the different textures.
