Wow a hoodie? That's lucky, why are they so specialxD Canada never gets good stuff and they always gip us out on tour:( Lol. US never really gets any special things either. We usually only get WUJC promo singles and that's only radios. We never get any Promo Albums or any special edition albums... lol. I've been working on organizing my TOD part of the Database. I'll be posting it soon (tomorrow or Thursday). I'm also thinking about making a site (for the database and my small collection) or something just for you guys. Does freewebs still exist? lol. Which makes no sense either. Evanescence is a US band, so why does its own country get gipped on neat stuff?

My favourite Ev album up to date. Their darkest one so far. I don't think there could possibly be any other Ev release I could love more. I agree, I may not have been a true fan of theirs from the Fallen era on, yet even "Fallen" couldn't ever leave the same impression on me as TOD did. When TOD came out back in 2006, I had just started high-school. Needless to say, that was a very tough period of my life. But TOD has always been there, no matter what. Ever since, I've been able to relate to this album to an insane, almost stunning degree. Whenever I get back to it, new meanings come about, as well. Hell, I almost have the feeling that record is able to understand me more than anyone or anything else in this life! xD Many of my all-time favourite Ev songs are featured on TOD, too. I can relate to their lyrics, I love singing along with them, I can just feel them the right way. No wonder I got TOD's cover (partially) tattooed on my leg. PS: It can clearly be noticed that Ben's no longer missing in the band on that record. Ev's sound on TOD is waaay better and so much maturer than the one on "Fallen"!

They should of had 'If You Don't Mind' as the first single I think.
If You Dont Mind Call Me When Your Sober Lithium All That Im Living For

My favorite Ev album, vastly better than Fallen in my opinion
I do wish Call Me When You're Sober wasn't on it though, it kind of ruins the vibe the album gives
But that song is one of my least favorite EV songs so that could also be another reason haha

This is my favorite, favorite, favorite album of all time. It has a great sound and feel. Personally, I think these songs on the album are some of the bands best. I highly value and treasure my CD copy of The Open Door. If I loan it out to you, that is because I trust you. When I got this album, and popped it into my CD player, I was mesmerized by Amy's vocals, and the songs themselves. All the album artwork captivated me, and I instantly fell in love with the booklet. I have listened to this album more than any other album (om my iPod of course. Had I done it with the CD, it would be well worn out by now, and I've only had it for a year). All in all, this is one of Ev's finest creations. (and Amy's look during this era! <3 )

Whenever I think or listen to The Open Door, I can't get out my head something that I've come to see as a FACT: that no matter the amazingness of the album as a whole, Like You-Lose Control-The Only One-Your Star IS the core of it, muscially and lyrically, especially because of all the break-up songs, these fantastic four ARE the best way to represent Evanescence in TOD.

Love this album. It's just such an artistic era for the band. Completely unpretentious, and there's so much synergy between the music and the artwork. I love how they've separated the big hits (Sweet Sacrifice, WOTW, CMWYS) from the more dreamlike tracks at the end. It's almost like Amy's purged all of the tension and built up emotion at the start so that she can relax towards the end. Listening to this album all the way through is like steadily slipping into a dream.

Hmmmm... An interesting thought. I think the core of the album is actually more in line with the break up songs themselves and the story that goes along with them. Starting with Sweet Sacrifice, which begins the story by telling the main character to get a grip of herself and stop being such a whiny tit. Then Call Me When You're Sober, where she stops being a tit and delivers the ultimatum. Then, Lithium, which reveals with the complexity beneath the upfront attitude this character is showing the world. Cloud Nine is kind of vapid, so I don't have much to say about it. Then the album takes a detour as the character moves from one problem to the next in the wake of her now-ended relationship. She's now alone with her stalker, alone to think about lost loved ones, alone and still thinking about the relationship, ready to take the blame for it if only to throw it back in his face. Then she follows the ever common pattern of wanting to 'lose control' and use someone or something to fill this loneliness/whatever, but in the end she's STILL alone in her hotel room in Lisbon, depressed as shit... So, she puts her thoughts into her own creative process and proceeds to lock the door to the past, leading her to meet her 'prince charming' and live happily ever after.... But not without warning him of her affinity for darkness. The only song that doesn't fit the story is The Only One, heh... Musically, however, I think the core of the album is Good Enough. Why? Because it makes the album into a story. That fairy tale intro to Good Enough ties everything together for me. All the emotions and struggle of the rest of the album is summed up in that gloomy little piano part leading into the happy song.

I want to see a movie based on that analysis of The Open Door, I might as well write it myself someday. It's a very good point of view and I agree, although I'm biased because I LOOOOVE The Only One. I think what I meant to say is that those four songs are the core to me when it comes to the sound of the album, they embrace all that Evanescence was and is (in that moment) and deliver it in a fancy package.

TOD is a great album from Ev! I love it. It's dark and I love some of the songs. Weight of the World is my favorite song! I love the intro and the guitar there. Lithium is also a beautiful and Call Me When You're Sober is also my favorite song though it's "I hate you " song against Shaun. The total worldwide sale of The Open Door is 6 million as of October 2011 and I thought it was only 5 million. Here's the link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Open_Door In the second paragraph, in the last sentences, there it says: "As of October 2011 it has sold more than two million copies in the United States and over six million copies worldwide."

Ring I think you should click the link. I did click the link, and the statements that say the album sold over 6 million copies are not sourced. Wikipedia by itself without sources is not reliable.
