Feel free to chat about 'The Open Door' in general. For individual songs, please use the topics provided.
One of the things that stuck out for me regarding this album was the placement of Your Star and All That I'm Living For. I always thought they should have been the other way around.
Maybe it's Fallen that gave me this mind-set, but with Whisper being one of those big, epic type songs that ended the album. I felt the same should've been done for TOD. I didn't mind GE being the very last track (admittedly that song felt more 'final' than YS did) but I felt that YS should've been second to last.

the booklet is beautiful! I can imagine why they chose the little pictures for SWQ (cage), LC (lamb), YS (telescope), ATILF (key) & GE (heart), but what about the others? (the bird, umbrella etc)

I think what I like most about this album is all the layers that are in it with instrument and the haunting backround vocals, beautifully done album

Is it bad that I just noticed the pictures relating to the songs in the booklet? Wow, I feel like I live under a rock!
But that's the thing about The Open Door! No matter how many times you listen to it, there is always something new to discover because it's so layered and experimental. It's full of emotion and I believe TOD is the definition of art. I also love the lyrics.

^ I agree 100%. The only thing I would change is adding in IYDM somewhere towards the end after Lacrymosa but before YS to break up the middle paced songs. That being said, its definitely still my favorite Ev record. I love the self-titled, but there's just such a big place in my heart for The Open Door  |

TOD is one of my all-time favorite albums. There's a sense of both adventure and mystery, not just because of the layers and effects, but also in the lyrics and vocals. Even though Amy's vocals on Ev 3 were pretty cool, they were nowhere near as interesting as TOD in my opinion.

I love the little booklet that comes with the album! But i noticed, mine has a typo. For the lyrics of Weight of The World, its says "I swear i fix you", instead of "I swear I can't fix you". Does anyone else have a copy of TOD that says that?

I'm listening to this album before work today. It really is an absolute masterpiece. I don't know if there will ever be an album that I love more than this one, and I'm totally okay with that.
