I know it's SUPER early to start talking about this, I mean we haven't even got Synthesis yet or the tour, but why not?? Since Amy has said Synthesis is sort of a passion project..and promises a traditional all rock new material album sometime after Synthesis. My theory for this next album is that the two new songs on Synthesis.... Imperfection and the one we still don't know yet (Perfect Dream maybe or a brand new song all together??)...and Take Cover are all going to be included on this album. Amy has stated that they already have enough material to do it. I figured if Take Cover wasn't meant for this project, it would have appeared on Lost Whispers, and it could still be the second track on Synthesis but I am not sure because it seems more of a rock anthem. I doubt it would work with the backing orchestra(maybe the electronic elements but).

I'm just very excited to see what Troy and Jen both bring the table for song writing in the guitar department. They work so well together live so I have pretty high expectations . I hope the guitars are more...diverse? than the last album though. I always thought that the guitars on EV3 were never one of its strong points besides on one or two songs.

I'm not sure and I don't want to think about anything yet because it makes me beyond excited every time and gives me a disappointment when I finally open my eyes but I'm sure with this line up, with Amy's experiences in different genres specially making electro music and the freedom they have now after Wind Up, and of course their thirst and eagerness for releasing a new album as a band after maybe 7-8 years, Ev4nescence gonna rock HARD! a totally new sound with lots of innovations, so many sound layers and mind blowing guitars! <3

I'm so incredibly stoked to see what they do together. I know Synthesis is kind of a passion project for Amy, but the fact the whole band came in and experimented with different instruments/sounds makes it so much more exciting to see what they do with all original ideas. I feel like they are all amazing musicians, and now that Amy has Synthesis to bring to life the elements she thought were downplayed in previous works, maybe she won't feel the need to outdo the bands previous works and just really come together as a band without a label to direct anything. Kinda like laying the previous work to rest and letting Evanescence evolve again.

Part of me is hoping for a T.O.D. Part 2 in terms of creating a deep, dynamic and thoroughly atmospheric album, but realistically with Jen I don't think we're going to get that. I feel like Jen is more of a hard rock guitarist sharing a lot of Terry's more groove influenced style so I think we're probably most likely to get more of a hard rock/metal/riff based type thing. Lots of big solos and catchy riffs. I feel like this was what Ev3 was dabbling in at times, but failed to do. For me, Terry's forte has always been adding atmosphere to a song. His work in stuff like Like You and Lose Control was far superior to the chunky, predictable hard rock riffing much of Ev3 for me. Jen and Troy I think could actually pull it off and create something unique in the hard rock/metal realm. So I think it's going to be heavy, but with Amy's orchestral and synthesiser inclinations to bring it back in to Ev territory.
I'm thinking heavy but interesting. Should be good!

I am excited for this album, whatever they decide to do, but I always like it when bands combine influences. Amy's love for orchestra and electronics doesn't have to stand in the way of a good rock album in my opinion, they can compliment each other, and make something epic and really dynamic (like T.O.D. is, but it would obviously be different)

With Take Cover, do you think we'll be moving towards more metal/synths next?

Are we going to be referring to the next album as Ev4? Seeing as we're not counting Synthesis as an album really. I think Ev4 has a really nice ring to it. I do think it is time for Evanescence to have a full on metal album to be honest, but with Ev's style obviously - heavy guitars and drums, piano and orchestra.

Wasn't there an interview where it was said that a standard Ev album would be released this year? - Edited because I moved your post to the correct thread. - DoubleA

Not sure if this is the correct thread to discuss this, but wasn't there an interview where it was said that a standard Ev album would be released this year? I don't know about releasing but they did say they'd be working on a new Evanescence album.

Something along the lines of "we have a handful of songs ready for the studio, probably towards the end of the year". I feel like we won't get a new album until sometime next year; however, I could be wrong, because they've been working a LOT so they may surprise. Not sure if this is the correct thread to discuss this, but wasn't there an interview where it was said that a standard Ev album would be released this year? My expectations for the upcoming album are rather high. I didn't really care for "Take Cover" so I hope that's not where they're taking us.
Aside from the musical direction I really hope we see a big change lyrics-wise since I think most of the songs are just repeating some themes(AND words). A change on singing style wouldn't bother me either (changing the formula on the long and high choruses).
