Was there a Stashbox contest around last tour where fans were allowed to vote on if they wanted to hear "If You Don't Mind" or "Your Love"? If so, did anyone screen capture it or see a tweet from Amy about it? Yes. What do you mean, the one stashbox contest window with that question? Honestly I don't think it did. They were probably just teasing us, but they were only planning to play IYDM.

It was probably the only song they were legally allowed to play since YL is most likely bound by contract with L&L. Well depending on the stipulations in the contract but it's probably bound by contract to L&L until that episode is released because wasn't YL deemed as an "exclusive" performance by L&L.
Anyway, I wish we could just get all the other mastered songs from Ev that haven't been released yet (or the ones us fans do not know about). I'd like to have demos as well but that's not going to happen.

Does anyone remember all the weird coincidences of how we got the song eventually?
Amy asks that question on stashbox, a demo CD including IYDM appears on Ebay and there's also a youtube video proving that the seller really owned it, Wind-up takes the video down, Evanescence play it live for the first time in Brasil, Wind-up said on twitter that they would try to release it, then they said they couldn't and implied that Amy was the one against it. Another preview appears on SoundCloud by a guy who claims he has the full song, but he was willing to give it away in exchange of unreleased tracks by Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson or sth(?!). He asked that person who was interested in buying the song not to leak it anywhere else because he would get in trouble for copyright issues.(?!)Finally, someone from Brasil uploads a preview on YouTube and about a week later he/she uploads it in full.
I'm not sure if that's the correct order of how things went down, but the whole thing seems a bit odd to me.

EvanescentEvil I've always thought the If You Don't Mind situation was a bit peculiar for that reason. I was never expecting it to be played live, nor was I ever expecting us to hear the studio version primarily because I thought everything seemed like coincidences. That's why I was a huge skeptic when I'd hear fans talk about the potential of hearing If You Don't Mind; the idea just seemed too random to me.

I remember thinking it was strange at the time, but now that you've brought it all together like that, something was definitely off about the entire situation. If it weren't for Amy asking about it and then playing it live, we probably wouldn't have given much thought to the 3 'random' people that were suddenly in possession of the song. But whose to say that those Brazilian fans didn't buy it from SoundCloud guy and then ignore his requests not to share it? After all, he started asking for money in exchange for the song. Think about it, if one person buys it and shares it, he only gets the one payment. If multiple people buy it and DON'T share it, he gets a lot more money out of it. There's also the possibility that SoundCloud guy was also eBay guy, but from what I've heard, they seemed like two different people, so I doubt that. SoundCloud guy was an asshole. |

There's a teensy part of me that thinks that maybe Amy orchestrated it. Maybe she really wanted to release it and it felt like the right time, but Wind-Up wouldn't let her so she just emailed it to the guy who wanted money for it, then emailed it to someone else who gave it out freely.

The audio we have though is pretty horrible quality... I don't think Amy would have been allowed to do that. Even if no one knew about it, I don't think Amy would hand out her songs willy nilly like that. Just saying, but hey, anything is possible in this world so maybe it did happen.

All I know is the song leaked the same month I found out about it and I was floored at how amazing that experience was. I was having a sad week being away from the family in college and bam, the song appeared and I still love it.
