Spanish -Located on the album(s): NOWHERE! We don't even have a studio version of this! OH WHY CRUEL WORLD? *theatrics* -NO BMI# (!!!!!) -Length Time: ( ??) -Acoustic Version Available? [NO] -Live Version Available? [NO] Lyrics: ( ??) Song: ( ??) Some Things To Think About/Debate Over: -Interestingly enough, the only reason we know about this song is because EvBoarders said that it was played. This is the only Outtake/B-Side/Unreleased Song that is based on hear-say. That isn't to say that it doesn't exist, but one does have to take it into account: Catherine has the MTV article, and Faixa Five has the (dubious) BMI website. What does Spanish have that legitimizes its existance other than "posts that no longer exist?" This comes from EvReference: Little is known about this song aside from it being an instrumental performed in Little Rock, Arkansas, during the earliest days of Evanescence.
According to Cfw828: In posts (that no longer exist) on EvBoard dev mentioned an instrumental that was simply called Spanish that had been played live, although may not have been recorded. It was called "Spanish" because of the Spanish guitar in the instrumental. SOURCE-According to subsequent Discographies such as the one on EvBoard (below) and the one on EvRoom101 (see Cathrine), Spanish is an instrumental. ---Outtakes--- Catherine Listen To The Rain <3:13> Spanish [Instrumental] SOURCE-Other than that, note people's general confusion about the song below. It would seem to me that, if this song was never recorded, then there wouldn't be much sense in calling it an Origin Outtake, now would it? (or is that something that us fans have done? Has anyone tried asking Amy about this song? She answered for Catherine after all . . .) It would seem that Spanish was an Origin-era song, and possibly was played on the Nov. 2000 Origin release party? It is EvScripture that it was NOT played in the TNT 2001 live set (since we know the tracklisting for that set), so it can be presumed that this song was played live anytime from after Vino's 1999 but before TNT 2001? Two more songs that didn’t make it onto CD were “Catherine” a song that Amy and Ben wrote together, that was played live once or twice in their Little Rock shows and “Spanish” an instrumental track, that is rumored to also have been played live at their Little Rock shows. 3). Has anyone heard Catherine or Spanish? I thought I saw Catherine on kazaa before but didn't download because I didn't think it was Ev, or maybe i'm just imagining things?
3. Nope. None of those songs were ever released. Apparently Catherine was recorded, but never put on the web. So I'm guessing the song was scrapped. Spanish as far as I know was only performed live. I don't believe they recorded it.
3. Catherine was recorded but never released as a B-Side or on any CDs. It's only known about because Ben mentioned it in an interview as one of the few songs he and Amy wrote together. Somebody mentioned that an instrumental called "Spanish" was played at an early concert, but I don't think anybody ever recorded it. It definately wasn't released. I've never heard of the song, "Spanish". Did it ever get sent out?
I'm not sure if it was recorded but one of the LR members here said that she heard it live. I think it was done sometime around Origin. -Note that this song must have been removed from Origin before the tracks were ripped to Brad's computer (as per the inclusion of Listen to the Rain and the track that was later called Demise - see Demise). The reason why Spanish (and Catherine?) were removed from Origin is likely different than the reason why Listen to the Rain was removed (see Listen to the Rain).
