I took their smiles and I made them mine. I sold my soul just to hide the light. And now I see what I really am, A thief a whore, and a liar. I run to you, (And run away from this hell) Call out your name, (Giving up, giving in) I see you there, (Still you are) Farther away.
Im numb to you - numb and deaf and blind. You give me all but the reason why. I reach but I feel only air at night. Not you, not love, just nothing. I run to you, (And run away from this hell) Call out your name, (Giving up, giving in) I see you there, (Still you are) Farther away.
Try to forget you, But without you I feel nothing. Don't leave me here, by myself. I can't breathe. I run to you, (And run away from this hell) Call out your name, (Giving up, giving in) I see you there, (Still you are) Farther away.
I run to you, (And run away from this hell) Call out your name, (Giving up, giving in) I see you there, (Still you are) Farther away. Farther away, farther away, farther away, farther away, farther away.
Why did Amy lee say she is a thief, a whore and a liar?

I'm pretty sure it's a metaphor, though I cannot remember what the meaning to the song is.

lol I think she's lying when she calls herself a thief and a whore. Farther Away is a badass song, btw. I love rocking out to this one.

I must admit that I was rather shocked the first time I heard Amy calling herself a whore Almost sure now it's just a metaphore though. I love watching this performance. (Prefer the song live!) I've seen it so many times that I could literally do every single movement Amy does during the song if it just randomly played on my Ipod *obsessed* And I find her sexy as hell, when she's headbanging They should add it to the setlist again, that energy is massive!

This is my all-time favourite performance of the song, the ending is so powerful.

Why should "whore" be a metaphor? The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean she can't feel like that. You know Amy, she's pitiless when writing, even with herself. We've all felt ashamed of ourselves. I'm not saying she's a whore (please, don't get me wrong) but when you're angry, very angry you just write whatever that comes to your mind (even when it makes you more miserable). And this is their angriest song so far, so.. it makes sense.

"I took their smiles and I made them mine" = thief
"I sold my soul just to hide the light" = whore
That's how I've always seen it anyways.

I second deadlypoison, while we all know Amy's not literally a whore, she seems to use it, as emptychild said, someone who has sold their soul.

This is my all-time favourite performance of the song, the ending is so powerful. It's my favorite as well. I really love this song; I have ever since I heard it for the very first time. The opening guitar riffs in the Fallen outtake are so eerie and awesome, as are the drums at the end. Now. Imagine Will drumming to this song.

They should do a studio version:) Isn't this the studio version? It's the bonus track on the Japanese version of Fallen.

Yes, that's a studio version but I think they meant a studio version with Will or with the drum intro and outro with Will drumming it.
