I (...) arrived just in time for radio anthem ‘Call Me When You’re Sober‘ in which Amy’s vocals really started to shine. There aren’t many artists who can pull off sounding exactly like the CD of their older release, but there’s a reason why Amy Fucking Lee is who she is – astonishing from start to finish. ‘Lithium‘ followed and you could hear murmurs amongst the mosh of fans who remembered the song from The Open Door album. A longer medley of hits from Fallen (...) before Amy stepped up to the mic to deliver a powerful speech about using your voice and standing up for yourself. Alone we’re small but together, all of us, we can make an impact, resulting in a massive display of affection from the crowd cheering on as she started up The Bitter Truth‘s ‘Use My Voice‘ and ‘Blind Belief‘. Amy Lee‘s performance, especially on [BMTL], was nothing short of incredible. Her range, her tone and the way she handled herself really needs to be seen first hand to understand why this band are still so important – 20 years after the release of their biggest album, they’re still releasing new songs that will withstand the test of time and after 11 years between visits (playing a total ROCK set, not the orchestral synth/strings tour they did a few years back), it’s safe to say Evanescence are still as awe-inspiring as they were when we were first introduced to them way back when. wallofsoundau.com/2023/08/25/evanescence-gig-review-photo-gallery-24th-august-riverstage-bris-qld/'What You Want' is followed by 'Going Under' that has front-row fans losing their sh.t and nearly losing their voices already. This is some insane fanatical love I'm witnessing front row and centre as heads are rocking on necks to 'Will Hunt's tubs perched way up high under the logo. (...) Lee takes a minute to tell us how the band was missing something and she figured out it was an Aussie. Ha ha! She points out Emma Anzai (bass)! Lee's voice pierces the night air with an immense siren solo that is reintroducing fans to 'End Of The Dream' with a rendition most in attendance have never heard before. It is nothing short of divine, the kind that gives you the shivers. Lee has us swooning with her siren song. The effect draws the pack [of fans] close, like kindred spirits who were lost and now connect through these moments of nostalgia. The corners of my eyes are wet, I am breathing in rhythm with the music and exhaling joy of the present and sadness of the past in the same breath. (...) 'Blind Belief' keeps us enthralled and is backed up by 'My Immortal' that has phones in the crowd mimicking Bic lighters back in the day, while Lee is faultless; to my ears she is sounding better than the recording ever did, and we all know just how good that was. Once again a sea of smartphones is held high to capture the legendary 'Bring Me To Life' of not only the sounds of the band but the chorus of everyone here under the stars in the amphitheatre tonight. I feel so at home with this crowd and rip loose alongside them! Sadly the pretty lights fade along with farewells of guitar picks, drum heads and blown kisses from the lovely Lee. It's over, but what a memory, what an experience. scenestr.com.au/music/review-evanescence-the-riverstage-brisbane-20230825

The setlist has been pretty much the same for 3 years... wasn't this tour meant to be the 20th anniversary of Fallen? It is expected to focus a little more on the album- only the medleys contain 'half' Fallen songs.

Yeah, I'm not at all understanding why these shows were advertised as a part of Fallen's anniversary outside of grabbing people's attention. I hope everyone who attends the shows enjoys themselves but I'm now incredibly hesitant on buying Ev concert tickets again until a new album drops and their shows actually evolve a little again. With a multi-album discography you'd think they could create some variation, but I guess Amy just really likes this setlist.

I'm not sure why it's labelled Fallen anniversary either, but i kind of thought it's an Australian promoter's thing because it appeared on their official posters at first. It's cool that they are getting attention and consideration, finally. I would totally get some tickets again and again but it's all so damn far away
