Next Album Thoughts…

So happy to hear Amy mention new music in the new interview with Rock Sound. Even if they say they aren’t working on it YET…they are definitely thinking about it and in a creative and good place.

So I forgot to list my dream elements for Ev5 last time I logged in here

• Echoing everyone else here with wanting a different producer. I haven't been thrilled with Nick's output for Ev
• Also echoing the wish for better visuals (including better merch designs)
  
• Less belting from Amy. I would like to see more dynamic vocals
  
• Less generic/straight up rock songs and more atmospheric songs. They did it before and I think they can do it again
• Maybe a concept album? An album centered on a lyrical narrative could maybe be fun
• Incorporate more drones into their sound to help with atmosphere lol
• Take inspiration from dream pop or shoegaze for sound ideas
• Something southern gothic inspired/sounding could possibly be really good
• Something that sounds really upbeat and happy but has really depressing lyrics
• Something that sounds really depressing and dark but has really upbeat and happy lyrics
  
• Do something completely out of left field and surprise us all lol

I wish there were new and more complicated visual theme and style as well. I loved Anywhere But Home thorny branchy, The Open Door golden/ornamental, Synthesis victorian-ish and mainly Ev3 glittery aesthetics. TBT era lacks this visual aspect for me honestly, the "modern" aspect of the design seems kinda not enough... and even though i know it's not the main deal! at all there, I miss a theme in this era that could emotionally attach to my graphic & picture-loving little soul

Of course that the Kelly's comic book is a whole different project there.

Hope for a new visual concept for Evanescence album in the futute!

My wish list for the next album:
- Darker, spookier sounds
- Maybe go down the more experimental, industrial route (similar to NIN)
- Change producers (my pick would be Danny Lohner, a.k.a. Renholder)
- BRING BACK THE CHOIR!!
- A collab (my wish list for this would be Lauri Ylonen, Sharon den Adel, Apocalyptica or Ville Valo)
- Maybe have more indirect lyrics so we're always guessing as to who or what it's about. I love a bit of mystery!
- I prefer only hearing 2-3 songs max before the album release so that we have more songs that are "new" to our ears
- Music videos for every single. I don't want a repeat of the self-titled era again! I think we were very lucky with the videos we got for TBT even though 2 of them were more self-made.

This is kinda random, but I would love if Amy would focus more on her ethereal/mystical vocals. We all know that she possesses mermaid-like vocals and I really want to hear more of that. I understand that the rock genre doesn‘t leave a lot of room for that, but EV3 and TBT have been really lame when it comes to vocal ornamentation.

I have never seen anyone talk about this, but I can totally see Amy doing some ethnic/oriental vocal type of stuff like this. I always felt that this suits their vibe pretty good and would evolve and expand their sound in a good but also unusual direction.

TOD background vocals have some sort of Oriental/ethnic vibe to me, like hauting and Amy using her lower register. Unreleased "Perfect Dream" has this vibe too, even though we haven't heard the full version.

Glad so many people are on the 'more vocals' band wagon. Amy's voice is far and away my favourite thing about Evanescence, so I'd love to hear it incorporated as an instrument more in the music, and without always belting out lyrics at the very top of her range. Fingers crossed we get more TOD/Missing style background vocals!

And there are still those 3 songs that she said were almost ready that we don't know if they are some of those demos that are on the cassette tape

Almost a complete album, maybe if she intends to use any of these materials in the future I think the next project won't take too long, maybe end of 2024 who knows.

Yeah, that's what Ev are known for - releasing albums every couple of years. 😂Sorry, hope that doesn't come across the wrong way, but reading that really made me laugh. I admire your optimism though!

If we get something within the next 4-5 years, I'll be thrilled, but even then I'm not holding my breath.

by Amy's level of excitement in the last few interviews, I believe it won't take long, last year she said that in 2023 she would reduce the shows to start working on new songs. She wasn't going to say that so she could release it in 4 or 5 years.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be so excited if you're right, but given Ev's history, I just don't see it. Fingers crossed though!
