Can people stop getting mad if there are some negative opinions ? Yes, disappointed people can move on, but you guys also make a choice to read, to care and to answer these posts. Just ignore them, I don't understand how that is so difficult ? This is supposed to be a forum where all fans are welcomed. If some of them don't really connect with the newer stuff but are still interested enough about the band to consider themselves fans, they have a right to be here and voice their opinions. I didn't see any haters so far.

Just my two cents but I'm just tired of this and the sometimes more aggressive approach some members take regarding those kind of posts.

With that being said, I'm excited to rewatch the video and catch all the metaphors and references. Exciting !!

Also Amy's outfits looked amazing. I wish she would put together a runway show some day.

I think the video is awesome, could be better but they have clearly achieved their max output with a limited budget. The falling temples looks kinda cheap and obvious but the cgi at the end and the smashing glass provides en epic finish. This is a very The Chain Part 2 video. I think the chain utilized their budget and visuals better though. Overall this is defo their best era since Fallen, so much passion from her these days.

That's not fair and not really true. I've been a massive fan of Evanescence since 2003 like a lot of you. You're right, I've had a lot of criticisms but they are my opinions and I've no intention of disrespect for the band. We've all been waiting a long time for a new release and I'm happy that most people have favorable opinions. I really enjoy the tracks they dropped first. I love the music video for "Wasted On You" and I thought that was the perfect way to start the album cycle, "I don't need drugs". That's powerful. The Game is Over is one of my favorite tracks and one I can definitely relate to. Use My Voice became really politicized and I respect the band for taking a leap of faith and using it as an anthem for getting out to vote, but it wasn't for me. I just posted that Yeah Right was growing on me in that other thread.

I'm not going to leave because I have opinions and I'm not going to apologize for saying it's my least favorite but I also understand that it's difficult to make music video in these times. I just think of all the amazing videos that were done for Fallen, and The Open Door, and even self titled and I really loved Imperfection, I loved The Chain but I agree with you, Better Without You is just the Chain Pt 2, flashing colors, strobe lights. The aspect ratio was fixed so it's better now. I think the director should put it on Vimeo to see a better quality version and he did with Use My Voice so I'll totally revisit it.

I think overall we've been doing a good job keeping negative criticisms respectful and I don't really see the point in dwelling on differences in opinions too much/calling people out at this point. It's been a very strange era with the pandemic and everything, and Evanescence takes each album in a pretty different direction, so it's normal for opinions to vary because I think we all have our own favorite elements.

Anyway, I'm actually still seeing aspect ratio changes?

Yeah, they still change for certain scenes. I don't know if that was the editor's decision or a mistake in the post-production process. I do a lot of video editing for events, weddings, christenings (etc.) and I can't tell you the amount of times I've made rendering mistakes. It looked really rough during the premiere, though. It was definitely still processing because because people on Twitter were posting these screen captures.

I think that after TOD all their videos have looked a little cheap, this is no exception, lol, don't kill me, the pandemic probably makes it worse. I didn't think I'd say this but looking back I think my favorite from this era is WOY. They did a great job with it.
I like some shots though, I prefer looking at pics of the video than the whole thing in motion. I like the shots of amy from above with the skirt flying around, there are cool shots of the guys and Jen too. Then there's that shot where Amy does the sassy stare and smile that's everywhere right now on twitter, I may use it as my next avatar
The opening shot of Amy from behind gave me major TOD/Good Enough vibes.

Decent one overall.

I was hoping the video would be finished in 4K, since Howell set the precedent with Use My Voice. The atmospherics and visuals are really great, but the ballerina metaphor/story trying to be told was a little buried, which meant the reveal at the end wasn't as strong as it could have been. I don't think they've done a really good "story" video since CMWYS - which has a clear beginning, middle and ending to the tale. The metaphors and visuals are always there and introduced at the beginning of the recent videos, but the storytelling is just not executed as well as it could be as each video plays out. Same situation as Imperfection.

I dunno, I would say Good Enough has a pretty clear story and arc, though it’s a little more nuanced or told through symbolism and avatar Amy. I would say that was their last video that like... blew me away. It really was beautiful. I don’t think I liked any videos in the self titled era. My Heart Is Broken was like the first great idea that just didn’t follow through in execution. Since then I haven’t paid much attention to ev videos because they really just weren’t good anymore.

That being said, this era has been a pleasant surprise. WOY and TGIO both made the best of a bad situation, though I find Amy to be the only good actor of the band lol. Use My Voice was actually great, and now Better Without You even makes me like the song more. It is a low budget video that really makes the most out of it. I am very happy to not have another Ev video of random images thrown all over the place too! From a purely aesthetic point of view, this video nails 90% of its shots and images. I also always imagined the chorus of this song to have a big, shaky, destructive, apocalyptic kind of scene behind it. That’s kinda what the video delivered.

Eric's editing is superb. You'd never know that Tim and Jen weren't in the same room with the rest of the band.

It's a cool video, the outfits are really good and I like that there are lots of colours. It's certainly not dull to watch. Maybe one criticism would be that it's a bit unnecessarily flashy at times? Definitely got throwbacks to different eras.

Music videos aren't as important as they used to be, I'm not surprised that an independent band aren't putting that much money into something that will likely not give a good return

Great music video with good quality, though I wonder why it was Amy herself in the cloak at the end. Anyway, the video is close to reaching 1Mil already which makes me pretty happy. More people need to listen to this haha
