I think this one is definitely a grower. I instantly fell in love with WOY and TGIO. So kinda shock that this was meant to be the first single. IMO. My main issue is that is lacking some 'punch' to make the song more dynamic. And I definitely do not like the backing "oh's" they sound so generic and cliche to your generic anthem song. On the other hand, I'm glad they ventured into the political stage and still keept it very them. Where have you heard this was meant to be the first single?

Wouldn't actually be surprised if it's not meant to be on the full album and is more of a The Chain type situation that happened to fall in the release of songs from the album proper, close to voting date.

I wish we could distinguish the backing vocals better. Giving everyone a lead part to sing would have been a mess and even more cheessy, but I wish they were given little bits of backing vocals so we could hear every contribution separately at some point during the song.
Or maybe it is there and my headphones suck? Lol, it is possible.

Amy said everyone’s parts were recorded separately and I’m guessing it was layered together to make it sound like, well, a choir.

The song is #26 on UK overall chart! C’mon UK Ev heads let’s get this song into the top 10!

Any word about a music video? Not yet. I’m sure they’re waiting for a chance for Jen to make it to the states.

Tbh the lyrics aren't any more political than songs like The Change, New Way to Bleed, or Take Cover. I don't think anyone would have interpreted this as political if Amy hadn't said anything. A lot of Ev's songs deal with someone who has been silenced or suppressed in some form, either lamenting about it or breaking free from it.
I agree that this song lacks punch-that's why it sounds generic! It's not that it sounds poppy (I don't hate pop music and honestly pop music has been really interesting lately), but there's just nothing that really makes it stand out.
I said I thought this was probably my favorite of the 3 TBT songs so far, but I've realized I'm actually undecided. Overall the songs all stand at somewhere around a 5/10 for me. Sometimes a 6.

I wasn't the biggest fan at first, but the more I listen, the more I enjoy it. That's how I felt about the other songs too.

(copied and pasted from my feelings shared on Facebook) So, having listened to it a few (understatement alert) more times, I've come to the conclusion that this song is a f***ing belter. I feel very fortunate to have been selected as one of the few to have heard it for the first time with the band. I'm always a little bit sceptical about music with a political lean (I don't have an issue with the concept, it's more that I rarely find myself relating since my politics are almost always very different to that of the original artist), but in this case it packs a punch, puts a focus on the individual and has enough characteristic Evanescence implicitness and inclusivity for it to draw me in. Edit: UK fans. Planet Rock Radio has a jukebox type thing between 1pm and 2pm weekdays. I've heard BMTL played there before and they often play Within Temptation. I've been trying to get Use My Voice played on it, but if loads of people request the same thing, it might have more chance of getting air time: planetradio.co.uk/planet-rock/presenters/wyatt/

I have come to the conclusion that Ev won't get millions of views because of the way YouTube is now. So long as the fanbase is there they'll succeed. Comparing to Miley Cyrus's new song Midnight Sky, this has 10 million music video views and 11000 ish iTunes sales, whereas Ev have 150k audio views and 2701 sales so see who is fairing better. If Ev had the same level of exposure and got 10 millions video views then you'd be looking at around 180k sales which would be mental.

I really loved what she said in her recent live stream, something along the lines of "Staying silent sends a message and it's not the message I want to send." I think it's great that she is standing up and speaking out about what she and the band believes in especially with what's going on in not only the USA but the world as well. The song is powerful and has a great message behind it. With that being said I will say that this is my least favorite song thus far. The Game is Over was my favorite, followed by Wasted On You.

Lyrics aren't too profound and generally cliche in a way, but I can't get over the vibe and the melody of the chorus.

several songs that I truly dislike and skip each time (e.g. Sick, SYW, MoS, ET, Disappear). Oh man, SYW, MoS, and Disappear are my favourites on that album and I hope we get more like that on TBT 😂

I've listened to this song so much, and it's definitely my favourite out of the three songs so far. The lyrics are a bit generic, but I think the anthemic, dare I say slightly cheesey vibe actually works really well. Not sure about the mixing again though - there are too many moments when it's hard to hear the vocals particularly the low vocals at the end. Maybe it'll grow on me. The mix of The Game Is Over definitely grew on me. And it's great to finally hear more dynamic in Amy's voice.
I definitely think this would've worked best as the first single. It's catchy, and has 'first single' written all over it.
