I really like The Bitter Truth but I expected something really new and received an improved Ev3 2.0. I love all Evanescence albums but I hope the band will not work with Nick on the next album.
I wanted Far From Heaven to have a video to reward the video for Lost In Paradise.

So this interview with Will is very telling on why the album turned out as it did. youtu.be/colTSjkcVsIIt seems to me (that's how it came across) like the band is not really fond of the electronic and string elements meeting the heavy rock sound of their music. Which I can understand but it's not something I agree on. |

Which I can understand but it's not something I agree on. I agree with you. The Ev sound has always been real band plus electronic plus strings --- dating back to Origin and pre-origin demos. The way they blend those elements into these songs that work cinematically and on the radio is just *chef's kiss. I think it's also the reason why TBT is my least favorite of all the records. Sure it is heavier, but it's more generic sounding to me. |

Sure it is heavier, but it's more generic sounding to me. Right. I actually really love the album but it's not pushing the envelope sonically/lyrically as much as I would have wanted. I'm really glad Amy insisted on having electronics and strings but I wanna hear more stuff like on the cassette! Even Smurfs on Fire which sounds like a band oriented song sounded really good and fresh/new. Here's hoping for those extra songs that didn't make the cut and the eventual release of an Amy solo album/5th Ev album |

Hey guys, I’m not sure if this will work for others but I’ve taken some of the demo snippets from the cassette and the bonus tracks and added them into Spotify with the normal album. I’ve been having fun listening to it in this order and it feels like it bulks out the album more which is always good. Apologies if it doesn’t work for you. I thought I’d try and post it anyways.

I must add a playlist to my Apple Music with this running order 😊 I find that importing mp3s like that to Apple Music to be impossibly difficult, so if you out how this is possible, please share with us your ways! I always use Apple Music for this, its always been my main music library since iTunes started so I have a huge library of music I’ve imported myself with no issues. You can only do it on PC & Mac, mobile and tablet versions won’t have the ability. It’s as simple as dragging and dropping the music file into your Apple Music library and you can edit all the meta data in there. |

Rarkphoenix just read your review. Yes, all of it! Lol I can't imagine who would think that was a critical review. On the contrary, I found it mostly positive but altogether respectful of the band. If anything, you're pulling a "blink(-182) with the whole self criticsm about the lyrics not connecting on that one song (was it blind belief?). Lol I realize not everyone will get that reference, but I hope you do. It's not a criticsm though. I mean, you know how I feel about blink. 😅 Anyway, wow! Idk i just felt like commenting on your commentary! Lol I enjoy the way you write and guess I felt moved. Now then, do I have anything to say about the album?? 😅🤷♀️ Maybe another day... Suffice it to say folks, I was pretty pleased with this album! I admit, I need to listen to it in full again, but I do remember really enjoying the end tracks (I believe Part of Me and Blind Belief, although I don't recall that last one. Did YouTube fail me?) and the beginning track/s (for sure Broken Pieces Shine. Forgeting the intro 🤷♀️) in addition to most of the singles (loved Wasted on You from day 1 and I think I mentioned how TGIO has grown on me. Same with Better Without You. Anyway, I always try to find some good in everything... but my one, actually 2 criticisms and/or lowpoints on this are Yeah Right being that it is just an awkward song to me. It's fun and different, but just feels awkward. 🤷♀️ And Far From Heaven. It's not a bad song, and those who follow me on Twitter know I really enjoyed the live performance. It's just, in the album and with all the hype of the fandom leading into my listen, it fell short of my expectation. I can't really recall specifics, just that it didn't impress me as like a WOW moment. Perhaps if I knew the lyrics, it might change things (which many times does), and or with more time.
Anyway, well, that is kinda my review anyway, despite saying I'd do it later. 😂✌

I’ve been listening to some of my other favourite artists and their lossless releases recently and I just thinking it would make the overall listening experience for TBT so much richer. Agree. They have a high def lossless version of synthesis on there, which is surprising as even the biggest artists at the moment don’t have high def lossless, so hopefully we get at least lossless of TBT |
