Lyrics:
Breathe No More - 2001 - 2002 Demo:I've been looking in the mirror for so long
That I've come to believe that my souls on the other side, haahh
All the little pieces falling, shatter
Shards of me too sharp to put back together
Too small to matter
But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces
If I try to touch her and I bleed
I bleed
And I breathe
I breathe no more
1:18-1:27
Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit's well
Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child
Lie to me
Convince me that I've been sick forever
And all of this will make sense when I get better
But I know the difference
Between myself and my reflection
I just can't help but to wonder
Which of us do you love
So I bleed
I bleed
And I breathe
I breathe no
Bleed
I bleed
And I breathe
I breathe
I breathe
I breathe no more
3:13 - 3:51

Breathe No More - Final Edit:0:00 - 0:11
I've been looking in the mirror for so long
That I've come to believe my souls on the other side
All the little pieces falling, shatter
Shards of me, too sharp to put back together
Too small to matter
But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces
If I try to touch her and I bleed
I bleed, and I breathe
I breathe no more
1:31 - 1:40
Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit's well
Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child, ahh
Lie to me; convince me that I've been sick forever
And all of this will make sense when I get better
But I know the difference
Between myself and my reflection
I just can't help but to wonder
Which of us do you love?
So I bleed, I bleed
And I breathe, I breathe no
Bleed, I bleed
And I breathe, I breathe
I breathe

Song:
Some Things To Think About/Debate Over
-This song was played live and put on the "Anywhere But Home Live CD" as Track #8 (3:34). [Zenith, Paris 2004]
Song:
-Amy Lee has sole writing credits to this song.
SOURCE-It is an EvRumor that the
only reason Breathe No More was re-done, is that it was one of the more popular demos out of the 2001 - 2002 demo sessions.
-People who don't know any better call this song "Breath No More."
-Breathe No More is a Fallen B-Side, and was only included in the Elektra Soundtrack (although it wasn't in the actual movie) on 01/11/05.
-Breathe No More was first played in Lisbon, Coliseum '03. Notice that this is the ONLY recording (unless someone can prove me wrong?) of Amy playing this song live with piano, without any acoustic guitar or drum (or any combination of) accompaniment. Unfortunately, Amy's piano was horribly out of tune, so we can't really enjoy the audio - but beggars can't be choosers. The next audio file we have, Live @ Zenith, Paris 2003, has BNM with the usual accompaniment (for example on ABH).
-A "funny" song meaning as posted by Ben Moody:
Breathe No More:
After Ben sat on Amy's chest that time, she pretended to be dead. She's got a flare for melodrama
-EvLore has it that "Breathe No More" was originally suppose to be on Fallen, but Wind-Up liked "Hello" better, and made the choice to switch the two around and have "Breathe No More" as a Fallen B-Side.
I don't think it's the case with Wind-up not liking the song. If that was the case they wouldn't have put it on the Elektra soundtrack. Sometimes certain songs just don't fit with the rest of the album. [. . .] As for 'Breathe No More' I also remember Amy saying that she wanted that song on the album rather than 'Hello'. Personally, I'm glad 'Hello' made it on the album. 'Hello' was chosen over 'Breathe No More' by Wind-up Records - probably because it pulls at your heart strings more or something.
Amy seems to contradict this in a Metal Edge interview, ascribing Breathe No More's absence to its "mellowness," but it could very well be that Wind-Up put in their two cents as well:
'Breathe No More' is one that I wrote as we were recording the album, and I recorded it and it just didn't make it, it's mellow . . . It's a rock record, whatever, but I would really like to have it make it on the next record. We have it recorded nicely, it's on [Kazaa], you can check it out."
SOURCE -During the Fallen tour, this song was usually after "Farther Away," but before "My Immortal." Earlier concerts have it played after "Zero," a cover song.
-There was a strange EvRumor that the demo of this song was really a remix, and not an actual version. I am not sure how that is possible, since this was on the Not For Your Ears Bootleg. That in and of itself isn't proof (since they sorta touched EID to make the EID (Rough Mix) on that bootleg), but the implication that they took a piano-only song and added beats in the background and passed it off as a demo, without people wondering WTF just happened (since that would imply an original piano-only demo, correct? One that presumably would also be in the hands of the EvCommunity.) is quite unlikely. This was not a Remix or a Remake, as far as I can tell.
-(Thank You
harridan ) The meaning of the song, as explained by Amy during a Meet & Greet in late 2012:
"I wrote the song when I was in quite a dark place, I was in a toxic relationship that was destroying me, the song is really about how sometimes when you're in a toxic relationship you change yourself for the other person, but you start to hate yourself for it, you look in the mirror and hate the person you've become, that self loathing is one of the worst feelings in the world, because you just want the other person in the relationship to be happy but at the same time you don't want to lose yourself, the real you"
