The Interview is translated and published in French. so I put the translated to English version with Google. The most interesting part is the confirmation of a live DVD. For reading the original french text, you can go to the source link. ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------Meeting with Amy Lee of EvanescenceThursday 9 November 2017 at 13:00, by Maxallica
Only member of the original line-up since a good bunch of years, we can easily say that Amy Lee and Evanescence are indissociable, one and the same entity. After a very long studio silence, the American quintet returns at the end of the month with a new album that is not really one. For the occasion, we spoke with the singer and we tell you everything!
It's been fourteen years now that the general public has discovered Evanescence thanks to the soundtrack of the very bad Daredevil (at the time the most horrible of Marvel ). "Bring Me To Life" then "My Immortal" propelled the group to the front of the stage and Fallenhas since sold more than seventeen million copies. Three years later and without his principal composer - Ben Moody (guitar) - the band was back with his best album to date, The Open Door , then it took five years to discover the third offering of Amy Lee and her gang. The number of years between each exit going up is only in 2017 that Evanescence comes back with novelty. Except that Synthesis is not really a novelty but rather a transitional album allowing Amy Lee to realize his dreams and to wait for the audience before a new metal-themed album.
In the preamble of the release of Synthesi s, we could have a short exchange but very interesting with Amy Lee who speaks to us about this album, the tour taking place currently in the USA, the one that awaits us in Europe as well as fans who have been following the group for almost fifteen years now. Hello Amy and welcome to La Grosse Radio Metal, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Evanescence is back with a new album, Synthesis , can you tell us more about the process of creating this new album?Whenever we make an album, I say that I would like to have a mix just for me that is only the programmed elements, the stringed instruments, etc ... just to keep this essence aside. There are so many elements in our music that make up the end result of what you hear that when we added the guitars, the bass and the drums, it becomes difficult to hear all these elements. So I decided to finally highlight all these elements and my deep desire for some years through Synthesis . It's an album to show the ideas we had, show how we grow as a musician, highlight the classic influences in our music and also offer a surprise to our fans. How did you decide which titles were going to be included in this album? I have listened to each of our songs in different versions, which was also useful to release the box The Ultimate Collection . Then I chose the pieces that would give the greatest contrast possible compared to the original version, that's how I soon understood that some titles had no interest in being present on Synthesis . I did not bother too in my notebooks of the previous albums because I often put several ideas for a piece before arriving at the final result, I was thus able to use an idea which I had but which did not correspond with the universe that we wanted to give at that time. You are currently on tour in the USA for the Synthesis Tour, what does it do to play with an orchestra every night? It's a unique and incredible experience, it's nothing like what we've done before. Playing with an orchestra, being part of an orchestra elsewhere, is a dream I have had in mind for many years and this project captures a large part of what Evanescence is in terms of sound and melody. The heavy and muscular side of our music is always put forward, it's so good to put forward now the classic side, symphonic or electronic elements.
We play every night with a new orchestra, it's impossible to do more "raw" than that. Unlike a regular concert that must be energetic, where I run from one end to the other of the stage, we can now focus on our performance. Jen (Ed, Majura ) and I can sing in a way that is much closer to the studio version and in this way our voices can blend, harmonize to capture all the sensibilities of the titles. During the concert I am sometimes completely exposed since it is only me and the piano, these are the most stressful moments but also the most interesting ones for me. I think it's in this kind of moment that you grow as a musician.>Are we going to be entitled to a DVD version of this tour? Yes ! We have just filmed one of our concerts in the USA which will be mixed and edited very soon. The concert was very good and I am eager to see the final result. Paul Brown (ed., Video director of the clips "Imperfection" and "Sweet Sacrifice") directed the artistic elements like the sleeve and the libretto of Synthesis and it was thus quite natural that it is him who is in charge of the capture of the images as well as complete editing. Can we expect a real new Evanescence album in the years to come? It's in our plans to write and record an album of Evanescencewhich consists of new songs but I do not know when, my mind only thinks of the release of Synthesis and the long tours that await us. It's been two years since Jen Majura joined the band, how much is it an influence for you musically speaking? I think we'll know more about it when we start composing for the next album but I can tell you that Jen is an incredible musician who makes me discover things every day, I'm glad she's in Evanescence ! Since the release of Fallenfourteen years ago, your fans have also grown a lot. For many of them Evanescence was the gateway to rock and then metal, is this an important element for you? Of course ! There is no better thing than to be an inspiration to people, to be a gateway to a new world because we have managed to pass in the radios of the world. Whether on tour or on social networks, the public often tells us what they have discovered since the first time they heard "Bring Me To Life" on the radio when they were 12-13 years old, I I'm glad to see people listening to full-time metal thanks to us when we're not the most metal band ever (laughs).Thank you very much Amy, we can not wait to see you next March at the Grand Rex. Good luck for the end of the American tour! Thank you to you and thank you to the French public, I know that the concert is complete and I am eager to set foot in the world capital of gastronomy.
