Lost whispers will be on Itunes and Spotify at midnight. Yep, it's up now, and frankly, I think that's a load of crap. It was supposed to be an exclusive for the vinyl boxset- now they go and change their minds (probably because of the piracy)? If they'd actually thought it through in the first place and realised this would happen and the best thing would be to release at least a CD version of the package as well, they may have minimised the damage. So frustrating, especially since I'm still waiting on my boxset. I own the boxset and I'm not bothered by them sharing digital versions. I'm happy actually, because even though I converted the songs to MP3 format, the digital versions still sound better (yes I bought some songs again). I don't think it's right to alienate fans that are unable to purchase the boxset. I bought the boxset not just for the songs, it is so much more than that, the packaging, the artwork, the book. So much love went into this. But those that are only interested in the songs aren't going to pay 100+ for that. As for releasing physical CDs, they still cost money to make and the band have already forked out God only knows what to make the boxsets, digital is the next best thing. They probably held off to try and increase vinyl sales, but now they have probably slowed or sold out, hence the delayed digital release.

I have the box set but no turntable so this works out for me since i can't afford a turntable. I'm happy and i appreciate the band for all they do.

Regarding the digital release of Lost Whispers, I don't think there's any reason to feel frustrated, it seems obvious and necessary to have one since it includes new material that not all the fans would have access too, plus listening to vinyl while on the go seems kind of a hassle . Also, I never understood Lost Whispers to be a vinyl exclusive (¿?), it was Origin that was the exclusive vinyl release. At least as far as I understood. You do get to feel frustrated over the delay on your boxset's arrival, though. And if it comes damaged (I hope yours comes just fine) but as a fan we may also need to be a little understanding considering they are an independent band now and that slows things down sometimes, I figure.

I feel frustrated because I bought a vinyl player so I could play this boxset. If I'd have known LW was going to be on iTunes, I wouldn't have bothered getting either; I just would have downloaded it. But what's done is done. I'm not begrudging anyone else having access to it, and I feel my frustration is valid. I'm also not being unappreciative of the band, I just wish they would have said it would eventually be available on iTunes. They couldn't possibly be so naive to think people wouldn't get the vinyls and share the songs around.

Are there any sites selling Lost Whispers in FLAC? iTunes is only 256kbps I believe.

It said clearly on the website that the two new songs were vinyl exclusives - given that the rest of the songs on LW are available elsewhere, that to me said LW would be a vinyl exclusive. But whatever, I'm over it. I was just venting my own frustration as I would have just bought it on iTunes had I known there was going to be an iTunes release as opposed to buying the vinyl boxset. That's all.

One thing that bugs me about this board is how many excuses people on here make for the band. Yes, I know they're independent now and they can only do so much, but it doesn't erase the fact that their business dealings have been utter s**t. As an independent band, they should be weary about what the fans have demanded and asked for. I mean, Amy is on social media and just reading the comments on what people say can determine how to go next with releases. I get logistics is an issue a lot of times, but this release was just ridiculous. I won't lie, of course I bought this. But in the end, we paid over 100.00 for cardboard, a book with SOME rare pictures (let's be real, the journal entries have been seen since the Fallen era), and songs everyone has had since their release. I'm not 14 anymore and I can see when someone is trying to take advantage of a fan base. I don't think it's intentional, but c'mon Evanescence. You're independent so you can do so much better. The person above has every right to be angry about the digital files being released on iTunes and Spotify. They should've given everyone who purchased a boxset a download code for everything so we can have a digital copy. It isn't asking much. I've given this band thousands of dollars and years of attention, and I still love them. This boxset ordeal is not a gift to the fans either, as I have noticed. Every damn band these days is rereleasing their albums in Vinyl (eg., The Decemberists, My Chemical Romance). It is a trend now, just like the VIP tickets to concerts now. Charging $200 for a meet and greet that used to be free to those who would wait patiently. Please, guys, see what's going on. I love this band, but they could've thrown us a bone with these digital files. We paid a ton for the boxset and some of us (I included) don't have turntables.
I am so sorry if anyone is offended, and I hope this doesn't get me banned...But you best damn believe I downloaded Lost Whispers. This should've been given to us, not an attempt to get our money AGAIN.

They should've given everyone who purchased a boxset a download code for everything so we can have a digital copy. It isn't asking much. I agree with you completely. After giving 100+ euros for songs that I mainly already had (and purchased legally on the release date), I think it's fair that all the people who bought this boxset get a digital copy of everything inside (Origin included!). I was also hoping they would actually do this right from the start. I am also not sure if I would have bought the entire thing if I had known that it will be later available online.

I toyed with the idea of canceling my order for so long because i somehow KNEW this was going to be pulled. I also thought this would be something that would be rare, but as it is being mass produced, collector's and resale value isn't really much. I genuinely got this for Origin and the book, but the book wasn't that much of a special treat as I have seen most things in it.

I am so sorry if anyone is offended, and I hope this doesn't get me banned...But you best damn believe I downloaded Lost Whispers. This should've been given to us, not an attempt to get our money AGAIN. As much as I respect your opinion and I really do, I would really like to point out some counter-arguments you might want to take into consideration: 1. You seem to believe that Evanescence are taking advantage of their fanbase by selling this boxset. Yet Amy and a team of art designers worked on it for months, especially on the book which contains many pages of Amy's journal which we HADN'T seen before (and that's a fact). So if they only wanted to make money out of already recorded songs, why would Amy or the band spend so much money & time designing something so big (52-pages), while they could just sell the vinyls and put a book together with the already existing booklets for each album and make the same amount of money? 2. The price of the boxset is LOW, considering what it contains: 6 vinyls, 5 cases to hold them, a 52-page book with illustrations AND a hard cover + a box with glowing parts that holds everything in it. And here let me bring the example of an artist I equally love: Lana Del Rey. With the release of her second studio album, she also released a boxset which you can check out for yourself here (https://store.universalmusic.com/lanadelrey/*/Music/Ultraviolence-Deluxe-Boxset/3CAO05NM000). As you can see, that boxset contains 1 CD, 2 vinyls and 4 printed images and cost almost half (around $51) as Evanescence's boxset does ($125). So you still think that we paid too much? 3. There is a reason why "every damn band" today is releasing their material on vinyls: music & vinyl lovers. I personally, along with many more fans would love to have Evanescence's albums on vinyl and I am glad they made my dream come true with this boxset. If you personally don't have a turntable or don't like vinyls or don't want to collect every merch item Evanescence releases, which is absolutely fine, you had no big reason to get this item. But you can't complain that they are making money from the same songs, when they are releasing them on a new format for the first time. I would understand your point if every album was already available on vinyl and they put this boxset together and making it cost more than it would if you bought the vinyls separately. That would be just a way to make money 4. Have you seen how much other artists sell their M&G?! It can be as high as thousands of dollars, that only a selected few can afford and it might only include a single picture with them and 2 mins of talking. Evanescence's M&G package contained access to soundcheck in some cases, piece of merch that also cost money to make (poster, box and VIP plate) and the chance to get as many merch item as you'd like signed (if the security of the venue didn't interfere). And it's not like Evanescence stopped meeting fans after every show. During their Fall 2016 Tour they were coming out after EVERY show and meeting more fans, those who were patient enough as you said to meet them, taking pictures and signing merch FOR FREE. 5. I don't see why people who got the boxset have to be so selfish and think that they are the only ones that can listen to Lost Whispers. There are people who can't afford this big item, but are now glad that they can stream or buy the collection of b-sides digitally and I'm one of them, although I got the boxset. 6. Evanescence are now independent, which means that they must self-found the recording of new music. So to me, the money from the M&Gs and the boxset will be used to record the new music, music videos etc. although that's something I personally believe and have no arguments to support it. 7. Last but not least, I am not making excuses to defend Evanescence for the choice they made with the manufacturer or the distribution company regarding the boxset; And neither are they. They made a big mistake. But as long as they are willing to get the damaged ones back and send new ones for FREE, which they are doing and Amy singing more than 2.000 posters to send to everyone who pre-ordered as a sorry for the delays, I can 100% appreciate that they are trying to make things right. I hope no one gets offended by this and there is no reason to. I just wanted to express my opinion on this matter. Have a good day!

This should've been given to us, not an attempt to get our money AGAIN. I'm not offended, but you did say a few things that are a bit unfair to the band: 1)"their business dealings have been utter s**t" - if you are talking about the vinyl delay this was completely out of their control and Amy apologized time and time again for the delays including sending out signed posters, what exactly is shit about that, I don't know many other bands that would have done that? 2)"they should be weary about what the fans have demanded and asked for" so the band needs to adhere to all the fans demands now just because they are independent? They are people, they have lives and have better things to do than sit on social media all day looking at every fans demands. Amy spends very little time on social media. 3)"we paid over 100.00 for cardboard, a book with SOME rare pictures (let's be real, the journal entries have been seen since the Fallen era), and songs everyone has had since their release. I'm not 14 anymore and I can see when someone is trying to take advantage of a fan base." - you knew exactly was this vinyl included, you didn't have turn tables and knew that it didn't come with a digital release and you still bought it and try to blame the band for taking advantage? No one forced you to buy it, this release is more aimed at collectors, hence why it's called an ultimate collection.... There's not supposed to be much new on here, it's a collection of existing stuff in an amazing format and it's limited. Like the Fallen vinyls, once they are gone that's it. And you don't have to buy it, you can listen to it for FREE on Spotify. People are missing the point. Yes we have seen some of the material in the book before and heard most of the songs, but the way it has been pieced together is a work of art. I think only the collectors can really appreciate the thought and care that went into this boxset showing the journey of Evanescence. This boxset isn't about new stuff, it's about showcasing an era of Evanescence. This is the equivalent of a greatest hits but on a way grander scale. People are expecting this boxset to be something it's not and never said it would be.

Destiny or not, I have just received an email from Amazon.de saying that they will refund me 10 EUR, because the price of the boxset was dropped in the meantime, from 109 to 99 EUR. I don't know why are they doing this now, but this is perfect opportunity to use this money to buy the CD-quality digital version of Lost Whispers. I wasn't planning to, but since the money's there...
