Lyrics:
0:00 - 0:23
I know a secret
Something still belongs to me
I'm not afraid of those who kill their body
For still they cannot kill the soul
1:05 - 1:09
You may beat me down
(ahhhh)Just denying the truth
(ahhhhhh)But you can't kill the me in you
(ahhhhhh)1:29 -1:34
Dreams are illusions
They fade away before we can catch them
Promises
(ahhhh) may be broken dreams
(ahhhh) we'll forget
(ahhhh)But what's
(ahhhh) birthed in you cannot die
(ahhhh)You may beat me down
(ahhhh)Just denying the truth
(ahhhh)But you can't kill the me in you
(ahhhh)2:40 - 2:44
Haaaaaa-aahhhhhh
Aahhhhhh aahhhhhh
Your heart
3:09 - 3:20
(You may beat me down just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)You may beat me down just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you
(You may beat me down just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)You may beat me down just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you
(You may beat me down just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)You may beat me down just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you
(You may beat me down just denying the truth)(But you can't kill the me in you)4:51 - 5:08

Some Things To Think About/Debate Over:
-So I imagine some of you are reading this, tapping your foot, wondering who do I think I am claiming that I know what The Unknown Song is suppose to be called. And your right, I cannot say with 100% certainty it is this. But let us sit down, have some tea, and discuss!
-The song Me & You, which apparently was "UNFINISHED" as it seems to be refered to in every discography I see the song "Me and You" mentioned in, is . . . err, well unfinished. Back in 2003 and 2004, when the EvBoard people would talk about super-secret things like the song Spanish, there was this song called "Me and You" that they talked about and, like I said in the first sentence, was supposedly "unfinished."
Outtakes: Give Unto Me, My Immortal, October, Goodnite, Me & You (unfinished) Understanding (Live Acoustic)
SOURCEGive Unto Me <5.49>
Me & You [Unfinished]
My Immortal [Demo / Piano-Vocal Version] <5:18>
SOURCEOuttakes: 5:50 Give Unto Me
?:?? Me & You (unfinished)
5:18 My Immortal
SOURCEOkay, so you guys get that Me & You is unfinished right? Heh, okay so now - how do we connect this with The Unknown Song? Well it does so in two ways:
(1): But you can't kill the me in you
"Me in You" - Me 'n You - Me & You
You see that there? If Amy or Ben ever said something to the effect of "our next song is something we are working on . . . it's called Me 'n You." People probably would have a hard time figuring out if he said Me in You or Me & You. It's like Fish 'n Chips right? You say the "and" part quickly and it makes the 'n sound, so for Me In You, that could have been interpreted as Me 'n You (and therefore) Me and You.
For the second part, below I have quoted what Amy said about this song. For those who know what I am referring to, you'll understand
why it is super important to connect what she says about the song, to the idea that Me & You (i.e. Me in You) is UNFINISHED (per the evidence above). Keep that in mind:
I can’t bring myself to watch it, the way we sounded back then makes me cringe! I know what song you’re talking about though, I don’t even think it ever had a real name. It was a half baked song that just didn’t go anywhere because it wasn’t very good. Back then we would just kind of play whatever we had live, even if it was still sort of being worked on. It wasn’t like we were famous and stuff would end up all over the internet… whops.
-Amy
...ah, memories of playing shows for free pizza...
SOURCENotice how she calls the song "half-baked" that "didn't go anywhere." Those statements CAN be interpreted as something being 'unfinished' and still needing work on (not even having a 'real' name!), similar to the descriptions people have for Me & You.
Note, Ben also did not remember the song title:
hi ben got a few ?'s for ya can you please tell us what the name of this song is - www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sO0-vi5EpQ - and why it was never released? are there any others that are like this that you're either sitting on or planning to release? do you anticipate the song you wrote with david Only Human Only God ever being released? i got a few more too
Sadly, no to all those.
SOURCEThis is why I think the song is called Me in You, when people heard this back when it was played in 1998 - 2000, and most likely when Ben or Amy actually said the song is called Me in You, they misunderstood and thought they said Me 'n You (and thus leading to Me & You). But the idea that the song wasn't done (unfinished + Amy's comment) is prominent.
-Let us be real here on the other two possibilities: The song CANNOT be Faixa Five, it does NOT matter that it was Track Five on the 1999 Set List because we now know that Faxia Five was written by a completely different band (see EvReference for that info) LOL. I'm so glad we dealt with that nonsense rumor!
It also CANNOT be Catherine. Why? Because Ben Moody and MTV says so:
The song "Catherine," penned in 2000 prior to their self-released debut, Origin, and omitted from the album, was the only example of a joint songwriting session that Moody could cite.
SOURCENote the PENNED IN 2000 comment. Catherine was written in 2000 and was an Origin Outtake. It isn't as old as some people are making it seem. If it was written in 2000, it cannot be performed in 1999. A song WRITTEN in 2000 cannot be PERFORMED in 1999. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. Bye-bye Catherine.
-Obviously, as this song was "never finished," this is not listed on the BMI site. Of course, that brings up a very interesting point about Together Again (a.k.a. The Narnia Song) but you'll have to wait for that when the topic comes . . .
-This, along with October, is one of the most "religious-like" of all the Evanescence songs, due to its lyrical content. Note the biblical quotes:
The, 'I'm not afraid of those who kill their body, For still they cannot kill their soul' is almost a quote from Matthew 10:28
Oh btw heres this
Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
-The duration comes from estimation; they played (Live in Vino's 1999) the song until 5:10 and Give Unto Me, which was pretty consistant with the Piano-Vocal version, was only five minutes over it's duration, so I guessed the duration is around 5:05.
-Still think I'm crazy? This is some other posts about Me in You/Me and You:
'Me & You' does exist, it's just unfinished - hence why it isn't listed and you can't find it.
The other mystery song that people don't know much about is "Me & You" which was written around the time of the first EP, but was never finished, and so I'm not sure if they started to record it or not. This is the only song by Evanescence that cannot be found ANYWHERE within reach of the fans.
WTH is Me and You?
Its an outtake of Evanescence EP...I don't know if it has ever been finished, but there is a song titled that...I dunno.
And Me and You? I think you found some BS there... nobody has me and you.
THANKS to DoubleA for the lyrics and MyImmortalEV for the videos!
