Hahaha I can't believe people used to say that... and some still do This song is almost eleven years old and people still seem to nothing about who the "Linkin Park guy" really is or the song title. I've been yelled at for kindly correcting people because I'm apparently "wrong" and Bring Me to Life can be called Wake Me Up Inside OR Bring Me Back to Life but not Bring Me to Life. (Seriously. They told me it had two different titles.) At least Loudwire knows what it's called. Vh1's best rock songs countdown called it Bring Me Back to Life. Drove me cray cray. I was a bit surprised that Chop Suey by System of a Down was number one; it's not exactly my favorite System of a Down song. But I'm really happy Evie was placed so high on the list.

That's why when people tell me I'm wrong about BMTL, I say "Look at the track listing to find the correct title. I can guarantee that you will not find a song called "Wake Me Up Inside" on the track list. Also look at the album credits. Do you see any mention of "Linkin Park" there? I didn't think so." I wonder what the working title for BMTL was... VMNT: Totally! That Linkin Park guy is sooooo good! XD

I heard on some kind of documentary that originally, they wanted Evanescence to have a male rapper in the band permanently, because a chick behind a piano "wouldn't sell". Evanescence said no and so they compromised that there would only have to be one song that included a rap thing.
I think Mike Shinoda (the rapping guy from Linkin Park) was actually supposed to be the guest appearance, but Linkin Park were out touring and so Paul McCoy did it instead to help give 12Stones a boost.
Personally, I like the inclusion and Paul is awesome, but can you imagine "rap vocals" on My Immortal, Hello or Everybody's Fool?!? That would have been a tradgedy.

Amy explains it all in the Scuzz TV interview she did. They wanted Evanescence to hire a guy in the band. "The suits" as Amy calls them said they threatened to not even put Fallen out. So Ben and Amy just went back home and a few days later Wind-Up called and compromised that only one song needed to have that and it had to be the first single. They agreed and Amy wrote Paul's part. Wind-Up wanted Mike to do it but Linkin Park said no. Here's the interview. 15:17.
