Oh my gosh... I'm such an idiot. I kept reading the title as "Push the Bottom" instead of "Push the Button." No wonder I was so confused about the title. FAIL.

As far as I'm aware it pretty much means "just go for it". As one would push a button to start/activate something. Sort of like opening doors, "don't hesitate, just push the button and get on with it". It could be intentionally ambiguous, of course. That's how I interpreted the title as well.

I'm not sure how many of you are from North America, but here "pushing the button", as an idiom, means to annoy someone or something. For example: "They were pushing my buttons!". In other circumstances, it could literally mean to push a button. So it depends on which area of the film that it's used in to know it's symbolic meaning, as some have already stated. However, being that it is Amy, and we all know how Amy writes, I'm thinking the title will have a more deeper and possibly a more metaphorical meaning. As an aside: You could all visit idiomsite.com to understand some idiom meanings.

Next album or the album this song is on should be called something like Automatic Door OR, Revolving Doors, Sliding Doors or the Elevator Door....

My ghosts are gaining on me!" Sorry, couldn't resist haha you don't know how much your comment just made me laugh, I just imagine Amy Spamming a Button on the wall waiting for the sliding doors to close "Come on! Hurry up and close! my ghosts are coming! "

^^ great scene for a cool zombie movie... Amy should make a music for this YES zombie/vampires are all wearing business suites with barnacles grown off their faces .. just to reference that one Adventure time Episode.... and the zombie/vampires are a metaphor the brainless blood sucking Windup....(yea may be a bit too much.. sorry) this would be a great music video for a song on a new ev record Surly amy will write a song about the whole Windup relationship thing... though sick is sort of that

rionka yeah but you have to admit that a music video where the band is being chased by zombies like a sequel to the going under music video, would be kick ass. and now we are way off topic.....

Ev's going Sci-Fi. It's not just 'The Open Door' now, it's a full-on blast door.

Ev's going Sci-Fi. It's not just 'The Open Door' now, it's a full-on blast door. HAhah yeah like full on metal doors that slowly slide open and heaps of smoke just billows out and in the door way a silhouette appears growing bigger and clearer, Its amy and she steps through the door waving her arms around to clear the smoke. followed by the rest of the band who appear sort of tipsy. Terry is last to be seen but he doesn't leave the door way and then he says "Well its nice having you guys over for dinner" and then Tim says "Dude Thanks for having us those dancing tacos were awesome, Im so high!" LOL..... yeah I'm totally excited for the new song... can you tell? I seriously cannot wait to hear the song, but everytime I see it I just think of the Sugababes' "Push the Button" D: LOL same and that song is so annoying i hope the song doesn't have the words Push the button in the chorus frequently like that song. Luckily Amy is more creative than that so lets not compare a song we have not yet heard to an annoying pop song. Im really excited to here this song and to hear the music from this soundtrack hopefully we get to see the full movie but i don't know how accessible its going to be. Anyone seen it advertised on TV that can record it?
