This song is awesome, I love the end when Amy rocks out while playing the piano when they play it live

Your Star is so beautiful, it's my most favourite Evanescence song. I think I relate to it from having depression, when I'm out in the country looking at the night sky seeing the stars brings me comfort.

One thing has puzzled me for years... Why does she sing the Feel so wrong line so softly live? In the studio version, that "wrong" sounds somewhat aggressive instead.

^^idk why she does that, it doesn't sound like a note she would be having troubles reaching. I don't like the way she does it, you can hear the backing vocal track over her voice there. It loses tons of power.

I disagree. I feel the backing vocal is what gives it power in the live version. I really LOVE the backing vocals in this song though, so I could be a bit biased.

yes^^i like all the TOD backing vocals, that's why i enjoy so much listening to TOD instrumentals. TOD has some of the best backing vocals by Amy ever.
But something i never liked about Ev's live performances is that they use that backing track including the vocals and strings, and while certain songs would feel empty live without that track, i never like it when i can here the backing vocals over Amy's live vocals. It's just something that always bothered me in particular and i guess it always will.
I'd much prefere listening to Amy's live voice during that "so wrooooong" part instead of the vocal track.

This is one of my favorite songs by the band. AAAND I have a new best friend/coworker and he's slowly learning that I'm rather obsessed. Either way, he says he likes her voice but he's more into hardcore music. However, I played YS in the car on max while going to pick him up, he requested I start it over, and has determined that he is in love with it Also, he's an artist and my first tattoo is going to be one for the song (an eclipsed starburst with darkness taking over the words "and I'm alone now") and he's the one that's going to draw it out for me I love how this band makes awesome just happen everywhere. haha

For someone like me whose current occupation isn't exactly home (even though it feels more that way already,) being reminded of your past home always bring back nostalgic memories. However, it sometimes also gives you a terrible feeling of loneliness... A loss that cannot ever be repaired. Or at least, so it seems.
I especially dig the interaction between the piano and the rest of the musical elements in YS. The way Amy goes from a rather low key to a pretty high one throughout the verses makes for a pretty cool tonality interaction you don't usually get in songs. The choir build-up is insane and the song somehow goes from all depressive and lingering to epic, dynamic and fast-paced. Lyrics are odd in an interesting way because they technically go from all desperating to completely enraging. xD As for the electronic sounds at the beginning of the track, they make me imagine darkness and flickering lights.
Your Star is, in my opinion, the best track off TOD! <3
PS: @acoustic_ev: Can't wait to see the final result of your tattoo! :3

Eh. I didn't like it much. But then again, I don't like many fan covers. I think it would have been better without the girl... The guy sounded like he had some trouble towards the end.
