I don't quite remember where Amy said about the strings. I do remember though that it was an interview where she was talking about the strings being recorded and in that room is where she cries what she hears it all coming together. UGH! I gotta find it now... Okay, this is NOT the interview but in this one is hints that Dave Campbell did the strings... So, at 9:13 and 9:45. It's in the NME top 5 Ev music videos thing where she says that EF is her least fav video

Good news everyone, that's the only thing I like about that song. I'm going to haunt you down. You'll regret saying that. Hell hath no wrath like a tween scorned.

wow this thread ... just wow.... so ahh any one look at the liner notes on the album........ yes okay well its strange that if amy did in fact do the Arrangements then she's not credited for it so perhaps its assumed.
Lol the mix assistant is credited fir writing in MHIB... interesting he's probably getting paid some nice royalties the lucky bugger.
Any way on topic I think its highly probable that Amy did do the String arrangements 1. she is a classically trained musician - TICK 2. years of experience writing - Tick 3. having a consultant like David Campbell correcting errors and perhaps a reference book to tell you what notes strings are capable of playing. - Tick 4. Highly talented musicians and Concert Master to interpret the music - Tick
Seems like enough experience and help for Amy to have pulled it off writing what we hear today on the Ev record don't you think?

^Yep. I looked at them and posted what they said on the previous page! ;D And yes, it does seem highly probable that she did compose the string arrangements and had some help. Now, my question is, do they record the orchestra all together, each section of instruments together, or each individual instrument?

NOW THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION? I've always wanted to know that Somebody summon Melt I came as quickly as I could! Thoroughly mocking Sick will have to wait, my people need me. ^Yep. I looked at them and posted what they said on the previous page! ;D And yes, it does seem highly probable that she did compose the string arrangements and had some help. Now, my question is, do they record the orchestra all together, each section of instruments together, or each individual instrument? My guess is that it differs from song to song. For example, in Erase This, the cello during the instrumental section is distinctly separate from the rest of the strings. I would think that the cello solo was recorded separately from the violins... But in My Heart is Broken and Secret Door, the strings sound more in unison, they resonate together more... So they were probably all recorded at once. Though, I feel like I heard or read somewhere that they used a small orchestra for the recording process and duplicated the instruments later in the mixing process, to make it sound like a full orchestra.... So who knows what he did with them? *shrug*, he's not above taking shortcuts.... Ah! I think the truth lies in the number of players they hired. If they hired two violinists, then the strings were recorded at the same time. There's absolutely no reason to record the strings individually in this case, because if they did it would have been cheaper/more resourceful to just have one violinist play all the different parts and layer them in the final mix.
