On October 20, 2009 Amy Lee was interviewed by Brazilian newspaper Cada Minuto and she discussed the third album.
The American band Evanescence returns to Brazil two years after a series of concerts across the country. This time, the occasion is the one-off on the second day of the Maquinária Festival, in São Paulo, on November 8, which also features names like Panic At The Disco, Dir En Gray and Duff McKagan’s Loaded.
With three studio albums and one live album in their discography, Evanescence, which hasn't released anything since 2006, is preparing a new album, influenced by the bands Portishead and Massive Attack. The album, still without a release date, should come out next year [2010].
The band's latest album came out in 2006. You are currently planning a new album. Do you plan to release it next year? Amy Lee: Yes. Most of the songs have already been written and now we're just wrapping everything up, maybe we'll do one or two more songs, but it's pretty much done. And I love [the new songs], completely. I'm really excited about the record, it's taking a slightly different direction, but not to the point of sounding like another band. I think the fans will like it. It's a little less focused on guitars and more on electronic music and programming, and was influenced by bands like Portishead and Massive Attack. But it's not all slow and climactic, there's definitely fun music.
