In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil on October 17, 2009, Amy Lee talked about the band's third album before performing at the Maquinária Festival in 2009.

Without giving too much away about Evanescence's upcoming new album, she says that she has "stayed up until the early hours writing and recording songs". But fans still have a good time ahead: the album is expected to be released in the last quarter of 2010 (she said, "I wish it didn't take so long to release the album"). Meanwhile, the band is working on new songs - "everyone is doing a little" - at Amy's home studio in New York. 

The singer, aged 27, said the band's sound may get a different sounding, using more percussion [the article uses the word "drums"] and less guitars on the new material - but she reiterates this will not change the band's identity. "It will be something like Portishead", she says. "Actually, an album must have a lot things to say to its listeners". The new phase may get some taste of electronic music, drawing influence from artists like Depeche Mode, MGMT, M.I.A. and the Brazilian band CSS, artists that she has been listening lately.

So disappointed this never came to be. Looking forward to Amy trying something more sonically different, either with Ev or as a solo artist, at some point in the future. Something between NIN, Fever Ray, Bjork, Massive Attack/Portishead would be delightful. Anything, really. I just want to hear Amy's voice on more stuff without the typical band sound behind her.
