Amy's done an interview with a Russian radio recently. The original text is Russian. Here's the translated text by google:
INTERVIEW WITH AMY LEE (EVANESCENCE) ULTRA Radio has an exclusive interview with Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee. - Let's start right away with the main thing. When is the new album coming out? Are any collaborations planned? And one more thing: will it be called a “flying banana”? Like your picture on instagram.
- We will definitely release a new album next year. So far we are in the phase of writing music, we have not started recording anything yet. But the plans are to go to the studio in late January / early February next year. We are working on the album now and will work all next year. There is no specific release date or title yet. This time we want to do things a little differently. I think we will not release all at once, we will release songs as they are ready. So you don’t have to wait long to hear them. We want to share as soon as possible the music from the new album, so you will hear it pretty soon.
- Is there such a thing for you as the minimum number of songs for an album or not?
- I always like to release more songs, especially considering that a lot of time has passed since the release of the last album. The exact quantity is not yet known, as it is still in the process of being written, but usually I like when there are 12 songs or more in an album.
- The cover version of "the Chain" Fleetwood Mac was unexpected. And which covers of your fans have you seen and which ones are most remembered?
- Cover for Fleetwood mac?
- No, to your songs.
- Oh, I saw so many cool covers on the Internet. But you know what I value most? This is probably because I am a singer and people primarily consider me a singer, but initially I wanted to become a pianist and write music, and when I write my parts on the piano, I try to make it not just standard chords, and try to bring that something unusual in composition. So I really appreciate when people listen and learn to play my parts on the piano. This is usually what I put on my pages on social networks. It's cool when people listen through the density of sound in our music and learn from our example how to play the piano or drums, to which instrument the soul lies. And people do a great job playing the game the way it was written. I like it!
- 2 years ago in Russia, fans gave you a psaltery. Do you remember that?
- Oh sure. They are in my music room. The guys cut out our logo - the letter "E" on a tree. Very beautiful.
- Will you use a psaltery while recording a new album?
- Maybe. They have a special sound, not like other instruments that I have. I wanted to try to use them on stage when they were presented. I tried to play an introduction from bring me to life, but I was not sure of my skills. Too new for me and I just decided to concentrate on singing.
- Are there plans for collaboration with someone from extreme metal?
“I have no concrete plans.” But I really love collaborations. I am open to work with other artists and there have already been a couple of conversations about cooperation. I like to work with other artists when you cannot use the usual moves, when you think about something together, something new comes out. I have no plans yet, but I am open for collaboration. I also like working with musicians of other genres whose music is not like mine. This is the whole point: when you are different and work on a project together, something new comes out.
- What about the collaboration between Evanescence and Within Temptation? Or are you with Sharon del Adele? Not in terms of joint performances and tours, but for recording songs.
“I would really like that.” There are no particular plans yet. But I think Sharon is an amazing singer. I really like her music, especially the latest releases, I was so glad to have a joint tour. When it comes to performing with a group that we like, it allows us to be more creative. We communicate, watch each other's speeches, think whether there is something that we would like to do together, I do not promise that we will make a joint track, but there is always a chance. There was a great collaboration with Lindsay Sterling, after which we went on a tour. And during the tour we had a great relationship. On her last album, Artemis, we recorded one song together - with the artists that we like, there is always a chance for collaboration.
“Right now, Amy, please do me a favor and allow me not to ask questions about Ben Moody.” So I will have an official excuse: Amy told me not to.
“I can't say that.” I am not afraid of any questions that they are going to ask me.
- Fans would like to know: will you and Ben write something together or not?
“We no longer know each other so well.” When we wrote together, we had a wonderful creative relationship. And this joint creativity is what this group was created from. There are no regrets about those times. But people grow and change. I also think that we had a great opportunity to work with other people and build new creative relationships that are suitable for the stage of life in which we are now. So I can say that I no longer know him so well, and therefore there is no chance of cooperation. But we had and had good moments.
- I take this opportunity to ask you: could you share your new album on iTunes ... as Bono did from U2?
- Free, you mean? I know that a lot has changed in the world. Now there is so much music in the public domain. And everyone can find a way to listen to new music. I myself rarely buy something now, I use stream services more. If you want to listen to something, just subscribe to spotify and apple music. Initially, it looked horrific for the music industry, because it meant that everything would change, people would earn less money, and so it is. But right now I like the fact that I can listen to anything without a huge cost. When I was in high school, I bought cd, and I remember somehow bought a CD that cost $ 16 or so, just because I liked the cover. We didn’t know what we were doing and it was magical, but it’s so great to have access to music at no great expense and with the help of a subscription I can listen to everything. In the world of technology, it’s much easier to discover new music for yourself and it’s really good.
- What is the last song you listened to on iTunes?
- This applies to the Christmas holidays. I have a 3 year old son, and we just dressed up a Christmas tree last week. My son really likes SpongeBob, and there’s one episode where the song “The Very First Christmas” sounds. She's been on a repeat in my car for the past 2 weeks. And I like her, but she’s already starting to get a little crazy.
- What about rock songs? But what about the Chain?
- Oh yes, of course, the Chain. This is the song that I most often listened to. I am very proud of her, it was great to get together again in the studio for the evanescence project. Not much time has passed since we worked on Synthesis and it was a very good experience, but still it’s nice to be back in a comfortable environment for the group, record music and make arrangements in the usual rock style. I like our current line-up: Will, Troy and Tim have been in the group for more than 10 years, Jen has been with us for only 4 years, but it's good to work with her. The five of us are already as a family. Also present when recording an orchestra is always an amazing experience. And it seemed to work out quite well. I heard a song on the radio a couple of times, I rarely listen to the radio at all. But if I turn on the radio, it is always magical, gives nostalgia. And yes, the Chain is my favorite rock song performed by evanescence.
- And the last question: you laid out how you cook on Instagram, what kind of music do you like to cook?
“We made dinner with my sister for Thanksgiving.” I used to have a special playlist for such cases, there were a lot of White Stripes. I like different music, usually I like to listen to gloomy electro pop. Now I like Billy Ailish! I like her whole album. In general, I love rock music, but since it is my job, I give it so much strength and emotion that when I listen to music for fun I prefer other genres.Source

If they are going into the studio in late January and releasing the songs ASAP, we could be getting new Ev songs by March 👀

Interesting interview. I just have one question... if they want to release songs step by step, then they won't release an album like on CD? Getting new music as soon as posible of course is a great thing, I am longing for that! But in the end I would really like to go into a shop and buy the whole album. ._.
By the way... first I wasn't that interested into the cover of 'The Chain' but now I really like it!

It doesn't necessarily mean that Personally I think we'll have a good number of singles this time -maybe more than half of the album- before the release of final tracks and a physical release.

And Amy doesn't own a car. What happened here? Lol. Yeah, I'm curious about this too. Maybe she's bought one? She's a mother now.

I can’t believe they asked about Ben *facepalm* but after hearing Amy say years ago that people are afraid of her driving, I just picture her saying “But did you die?” 😂

Very mature answer to the Ben question. It could be me misunderstanding the translation, but I got from this that she's aware he's been collaborating with other people and wished him well. Best kind of take.
