One of my favorites on TOD, and one of my all time favorite Ev songs And it's not because of the lyrics; it's just going by the overall sound. Dat choir.

I was about to post a comment saying this is the song that I posted on facebook on my one-year anniversary of being dumped...and then I realized that tomorrow is two years. I don't know why, the whole feeling of the blame and guilt, someone leaving, I guess that's how I felt related to it.

This is a great song, TOD is so good, with so many songs i love! It's just an album that doesn't get old, i can listen to it now or after 10 years and the songs will still mean something to me. I just enjoy it more than any other Evanescence album. I'm not the biggest fan of "baby" or "honey", but i'm not completely bothered by those expessions either, so i wouldnt take too many points away from this song just for that. The choir sounds excellent, i like the melody, the way the song builds itself from the verses to finally explode in the chorus, the verses sound great, too, the whole song has a great atmosphere. The bridge is super powerful, it's the song's climax in my opinion and also features a passionate guitar solo. I felt vey related to the lyrics when TOD came out, because i was dealing with my ex at that time and i just felt that breaking up with her was such a relief to me, like i went back to be myself just like the song says. It was a liberating experience.

I love the interpretation of this song, Mozarts is beautiful but Ev really did an outstanding job with it and added so many beautiful elements and lyrics!

I made an instrumental of this song with Audacity. It includes background vocals. Enjoy! ;D

It was a liberating experience. Girl... I couldn't agree more with you and I totally second all the things you've stated above! I really shouldn't try to word it all myself, as I would fail after your brilliant explanation. Therefore, I'd only like to add a few things: 1) Mozart is my favourite composer up to date. "Lacrimosa," however, was written by one of his apprentices after his death since someone had to finish the "Requiem." Thus, the whole "Lacrimosa" piece may have been based on Mozart's former notes, but it could also have been his student's interpretation only. 2) The expressions "honey" and "baby" really don't fit the song in my opinion, but I can also stand them. Overall, I find the lyrics quite straight-forward and honest. It's important to stay true to your own self, no matter what. No one should try to change you, ever.

How do we know that this song wasn't actually a promo single in Brasil? Like how do we know the existing "promo" isn't indeed real? Was there an confirmation from the band or the label?

Hmm, never heard of it... Guess someone has to make a big deal about it (just like with IYDM) in order to get any type of information about that possible promo single revealed/leaked. ;D

This song live is one of the best things I've ever heard. It's one of my favourite Ev songs. It's just so grand!

After listening to the entire album again, I can confidently say that Lacrymosa is the worst song on TOD.

After listening to the entire album again, I can confidently say that Lacrymosa is the worst song on TOD. I feel bad for saying it because I respect the effort, but I'm at about 70% agreement levels right now. My issue with the song is that we can't give the band credit for the the most impressive thing about the song: the selection from Mozart's requiem. While the recording sounds incredible and I love that it wasn't just sampled from a pre-existing recording, Evanescence can't take credit for it. What I can give them credit for is what they added to the song and whether or not it measures up to the source material or even other songs on the album. It does not. The biggest letdown of Lacrymosa is the lyrics, but to top it off the digital elements of the song are weak, the piano (while having some lovely melodies) is yet again demoted to an accessory instead of being played to its or Amy's potential, and the chorus is downright limp. It's all passable, but this isn't one of the most famous compositions of all time for nothing and the band's contribution to it isn't even as good as the other songs on The Open Door, which don't have Mozart backing them.

I really feel like there was some sort of confirmation when this first popped up on the original ET. Not to mention the disc looks horrible and unprofessional.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts. I think the word I would use to describe the song is "bland".

This was one of my favorites right away after buying The Open Door. I was totally in love with it, especially the ending. Really, it was one of my favorites for a while, but for the past couple of years, I haven't been able to get into it - until recently. It's just really pretty and dark, and I'm finally able to relate to it in some way. And for some reason, I love that we can still hear the choir a little bit at the very end when all the instruments already stopped playing.
