Oooh, i have a hard time finding covers of Ev that i really like, most of the time i can't stand them. Anyway, i'll watch some of these. I'm following the argentinian version of The Voice here in Uuguay, and i still haven't heard anyone singing Ev. I really would like to see someone covering them, altough i know there's a big chance i won't really like the cover very much. But at the same time, i love it when people sing/play Ev songs in popular shows like these.

It somewhat annoys me how so many contestants put an operatic spin on BMTL. Not that I particularly hate the style or the singing, but I don't know...it just doesn't sit well with me.

I just thought it was a bit dull really, there are so many bits in the song where in a singing competition if you can do it right you would sound amazing, but she deliberately missed out those bits to make it easier for herself and just ended up repetitively singing the chorus badly. I didn't like it, but if it got Ev some publicity I guess it isn't all bad.

I have to agree that the publicity Ev got is good but still, the performance totally ruins the song. It's not enough to sing well, you must put your whole heart in it. Ella clearly didn't. On the other hand, if people who don't know Ev watched X-Factor and decided to hear the original, they might fall in love with it when they realize how much better it is

I've always thought there are three kinds of covers:
Those where an amazing artist makes a mediocre song their own, those where a mediocre artist tries way to hard to make an amazing song their own, and somewhere there in the middle, a grey area where both, an amazing song and amazing artist become one.
Ev is amazing, but unfortunately for these people, they're mediocre. Not many can pull off an Ev song. To this day I haven't seen anyone, amateur or professional, who has what it takes to handle them. And based on the reaction Ev covers always get by the GP, I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I liked Caitlin Michelle's cover of BMTL and that Finnish girls cover of Broken. The only critiques I have is that gorls voice sounded too chakey in Broken, and why on earth does EVERYONE who is on these talent shows always sing "Save me from, Save me from the dark"? it sounds very misplaced.

^^I really can't understand how people on these sort of shows sing easy lyrics like BMTL's wrong. I mean, i get they're nervous and all, but if they have so much trouble singing BMTL i don't think i want to hear them sing songs like "i was hoping" by Alanis Morisette or "Should've been, could've been" or "Where is the what if the what is in why" by Moloko. It would be a mess, lol

the first video, the adele like girl, when it sounded like something adele would pull off, i was like oh no, this is gonna be crap. her voice is good for like Adele's genre of music, i don't think she should of done BMTL but hey, she took a risk and that's all it matters.

Let me share some perfomances from the Greek X-factor show. The messed up lyrics are pretty amusing.

Ana Maria on the Halloween episode of X Factor Bulgaria:
The beginning sounds a little bad because high notes are obviously not her forte but the rest is surprisingly good, especially for a 15-year-old.

And that first video... "Ooo ooo to man" "Ooo ooo tonight" "Ooo ooo to life"... WTF? THIS. The song would probably go good with a nice contemperary style dance. But the people in the first one are crawling around like rabid animals and hip hop? No. Just no. He also sang "frozen in time..." Awww, hell no!
