Give Unto Me - Piano-VocalItalics are background/back up vocals.0:00 - 0:25
I've been watching you from a distance
But distance sees through your disguise
All I want from you is your hurting
I want to heal you
I want to save you from the dark
1:11 - 1:16
Give unto me your troubles
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
1:49 - 2:02
Why should I care if they hurt you
(Ooh)Somehow it matters more to me
Than if I were hurting myself
Save you
(save you ahh)I'll save you
(Fear not the flame of my love's candle)Give unto me your troubles
(Fear not the flame of my love's candle)I'll endure your suffering
(Let it be the sun in your world of darkness)Place onto me your burden
(Give unto me all that frightens you)I'll drink your deadly
(I'll have your nightmares for you if you'll sleep soundly)3:24 - 4:10
(Ooohhh)Give unto me your troubles, Mmm
(Fear not the flame of my love's candle)I'll endure your suffering
(Let it be the sun in your world of darkness)Place onto me your burden
(Give unto me all that frightens you)I'll drink your deadly poison
(I'll have your nightmares for you if you'll sleep soundly)4:42 - 5:08
Fear not the flame of my love's candle
Let it be the sun in your world of darkness

Some Things To Think About/Debate Over:
-This is the third song Evanescence created (for the second, see Understanding; for the first, see Solitude).
-We, as the EvCommunity, didn't always have the Instrumental to Give Unto Me (i.e. the SA EP version). Back in late 2005/early 2006, people from the My Last Breath forums had INSISTED that the demo of GUM was what was on SA EP and that the instrumental didn't exist. They were proven wrong when FINALLY the instrumental surfaced. For some reason, when SA EP songs were spreading across the internet, the Instrumental (like the original AOTS) didn't spread like it should have, leading people to believe that the GUM (Piano-Vocal) was what was on the EP (hence fake versions on E-Bay selling the wrong song). It was only until people started spreading it (I found it on bleed-Evanescence fan-site around that time) did it start to stick. In addition, the Perfect Rip on EvReference solidified the place of the SA EP version of Give Unto Me.
Before this, we had people coming up with "crazy" theories about the Instrumental and what is sounded-like. Due to this, some people began thinking that the Instrumental was made first and then the Piano-Vocal version. This EvRumor, however, is nonsense:
I've always wondered about the Give Unto Me instrumental. It makes sense since Amy composed it without the intention of adding vocals to it. She did that later on. I'd be interested to hear it to see if it's any different.
-Notice that even though people call it the "Instrumental" (as I did in the previous paragraph), the "Instrumental" is NOT an instrumental of the Piano-Vocal version (although those are quite pretty as well). This version apparently was "inspired" by the intro/outro of the Piano-Vocal version, however. According to others, Amy went all "creative" and created the instrumental out of the Piano-Vocal version. *shrug* Creative minds and all that.
The Sound Asleep EP version is a greatly re-produced instrumental synth arrangement with many musical themes from the original song. The end of this version notably features a similar 'morse-code' effect as can be heard at the end of the Fallen and Origin versions of My Immortal.
Give Unto Me : Credited as the 3rd song ever written for Evanescence, Give Unto Me was written by Amy Lee. It was originally a piano (played by Amy) song, featuring the vocals of Amy, background vocals (apparently by Amy too) and some minor effects, that never made the cut of Evanescence EP. Was later cut, edited, re-produced with major effects and turned into an instrumental piece for the intro of the Whisper/Sound Asleep EP in 1998.
-Give Unto Me is one out of the five pre-Fallen songs whose studio version was played on the radio. I am unsure as to WHICH version was played, although one has to assume it was the Piano-Vocal version, right?
-Give Unto Me is one of the eight songs NOT listed on the BMI Website under Evanescence.
-Ben Moody on the meaning of the song 'Give Unto Me' (from the EV EP Release Party):
We just wanted to say that we're Christians; we play music about a lot of things but our number one goal is to tell every one of you and everyone else out there about the love that we have for Jesus Christ and the love Jesus Chris has for us and this next song is about how kinda we felt (audience applause) kinda how we felt God is coming to us, coming from the perspective of God, about all the garbage that'll come onto your everyday life, and all the crap that will bring you down and it's just, God is just waiting to take it away . . . you don't have to let it get you down. Anyway this is called 'Give Unto Me.'
