1. Better lyrics: songs like Lithium, SH, SWQ, Lacrymosa and even BMTL prove that Amy can do a lot better than the lyrical cheese that was Ev3 (well, most of it). While there were some awesome and clever lines every now and then, I felt like she didn't dig deep enough this time. I don't mind her cache of excessively used words, but I'd like to see her challenge herself even more, to tap into things she hadn't before. Surprise us with something unexpected.
2. Bring back the spooky, ethereal atmosphere: it's one of the things that got me deeply engrossed into some of their songs, always trying to figure out the sounds playing in the background or being surprised when I hear something I hadn't before.
3. More solos and instrumental breaks: seriously, stretch the song to 6 minutes for all I care, just throw in something that would make us appreciate the instrumentals a lot more and momentarily take our focus away from Amy's vocals.
4. Vocal styling: It would be really cool to hear a bit more vocal runs and ornamentation (like the solo she had in her FoaL duet). Listening to constant belting can be a little tiring.
This is all I can think of for the time being.

^^^^ THIIIIS. I always loved the spookiness/ethereal-ness of some of the pre-Fallen songs. I miss it terribly. Before the Dawn, Unknown Song, Surrender, etc....

I hope they can get out of Wind-up after the next record and find a better label. Which makes me hope Amy will release new music soon so she can get out of her contract (I've read that it's 4 albums, right?).

I might have already posted in this thread, but I can't remember and don't feel like looking for it. Edit: Yep. Said almost the exact same thing, haha.... Almost. -No choir. It is outdated and cheesy, while also pushing Ev's music in a closer direction to countless other bands that have been doing the same thing for over a decade now. -Instrumental sections. MoS has a guitar solo... That's nice, I guess. Solos aren't impressive anymore. Erase This has a brief interplay of piano/strings/drums that is really great, but it's too friggin' short. Developing the instrumental parts and really getting a good groove into some of the songs would do wonders for Ev's music and even their reputation. -Take the electronic influences in a different kind of direction, as electro-pop-rock is already a thing now, it's not innovative. Other bands have already found great success doing it, but Ev can't keep following in someone else's footsteps. -The harp is one thing that truly sets Evanescence apart from the majority of bands and mainstream music as a whole. To hear it used creatively and to its full potential on future albums is an absolute must for me. It is the one defining thing about NWTB, an otherwise by-the-books rock song. -I want Amy to play the piano to the best of her abilities. On three albums she hasn't once pushed or challenged herself on the piano... She's been playing it for as long as I've been alive. I want to hear it. I agree with you, Evs moved totally different way and their music is now very rythmicall, mood is more positive and everything sounds more modern and hopefully WILL still sound in the future projects. the choir does not fit anymore and Evs know that. sry but this is my opinion.

I'd like to hear some more heavier songs. I've always enjoyed heavier rock/metal mixed with symphonic elements, or piano/harp elements, or choirs, or whatever. Not to say that Ev3 lost that, but I guess I just miss their Whisper-esque sort of songs. Hahaha. I feel like Oceans was a good hybrid of this ... with the sort of weird synths added in. ANYWAYS. I'd like to hear maybe a bit more of that on the next album. That ... or maybe something sounding even more alternative. I don't think I'd mind that at all ... yup. Hmm, I also have always enjoyed Ev's ballads ... the interesting sounds that they add into songs (The weird intro to Give Unto Me, Snow White Queen, etc, you get my point), crazy awesome guitar solos OR drum solos!! Anything sounding really epic, with lots of layers ... or anything completely stripped down and raw. Any of these would make me happy.

I can't lie, to this day I am still a sucker for Farther Away and Whisper drum solos from ABH, along with the "upgraded" Imaginary bridge. (I'd maybe count the MoS live intro into this, but I think that's more ambience and intensity that makes that awesome, not necessarily the drums ). Anyways. I'm rambling. But Ev has SKILLS. They need to show them off more. Haha. (Not saying they don't but ... if they chose to showcase more of that, I wouldn't be sad, haha).

^^ awww. Now I want a drum solo definitely! Also I'd like to have an album with the live version of "Disappear" but that's almost impossible...

I don't see Amy bringing back some epicness from Fallen and Pre-Fallen material in the future. Though she could make some experimentation and end up with songs that remind us of Haunted or Whisper.
I was thinking that Evanescence needs a collab in an album, something like that rap from BMTL. I'll probably get yelled at for saying this but Ev needs to hit the charts again, the talent to make that happen is there, you just need to sell a tiny bit of your soul to the devil and make at least a mainstream song.

I agree with parts of this... Ev shouldn't sell their soul or compromise their sound to get a chart hit but part of what I love about Evanescence is their ability to create music with so many different elements. Pop, Rock, Metal, Electro, Classical, Ambient, etc. etc. If they were to push themselves I think they could come up with some AMAZING chart-toppers that are still completely "Evanescence". They also seriously need a collab. Seriously. I don't even care who it is, I just wanna see them break out of their comfort zone a little to make something beautiful.

I would LOVE to see a collaboration with Tarja Turunen. A classically trained pianist who is AMAZING at singing (Amy) + a classically trained vocalist (Tarja) = epicness!

Personally, I would like if they make a remake of Listen to The Rain and Where Will You Go and include it in the next album.
And Choirs! Personally I can never get tired of choirs in songs. I missed having choirs in the 3rd one.
And as someone else put it "More solos and instrumental breaks" would be great as well, something like Amy's piano solo part in Your Star, that was amazing. Or like the vocal part in Sally's Song, I love that part! Her voice is beautiful!

I actually cannot wait for an Amy Lee solo album. Hard rock is over. I love it, but there isn't much evolution going on in hard rock music, and that is why Evanescence cannot be marketed anymore. Amy Lee is uber-talented but is viewed as a "one-trick pony" by the music world. I would LOVE to hear this folky music she has been talking about for years. I would love that to surface, as well as the electronic stuff she was working on before Ev3. I believe that could definitely make a huge success out of Amy Lee. Not that success matters, but in the music world, if you want your music to be heard by a lot of people and to go down in history, that is what needs to happen. And Amy's music is toooo beautiful NOT to go down in history and not to evolve. She deserves respect and deserves to make music that steers away from the Evanescence sound without risking the loss of fans because of a change in sound.
