AeternusAmatorius I thought Origin was released on November 4th of 2000? Or aren't we completely sure about that? :/ That's correct. Someone over at EvBoard made a thread about the "newly" surfaced news about Origin and said "It notes the exact release date of the demo album Origin (November 4th 2000)". I said we've known that for years and another person said "Not really, when we were deciding on when "World Evanescence Day" should be, not even the band members could remember the Origin release, thus why we went with the Fallen date." Which I think is total bull. I've known the exact release date of Origin since 2004 because Window Media Player told me when I searched "Origin" within the program to get "more info" about it. I was just wondering if it's 100% true that no one knew the exact release date of Origin when "World Evanescence Day" was thinking about being created so they went with the Fallen release date. Which you've put that to rest as false. Stupid people...

AeternusAmatorius oh wow, I've never come across anyone doubting about the release date before. That's really weird. I can't be 100% sure either, but I think it was a poll and most people voted for March 4th...? I hope someone else remembers what was happening on ET back then and comment here.

Yeah, there was a poll and the majority of the forum voted on Fallen's release date to celebrate. Origins release date (November 4th) was on the poll as well.

I think it's the right thing to go with fallen. There's even interviews where Amy has said origin isn't a real album it's just a demo. It makes more sense to me to have it on fallen's anniversary since people outside the evfan group that see the hash tags and posts/tweets will probably have never heard of origin. Also as was said before it was a public release the one that got them famous. I think it works better this way. As for what we are going to do.. Well at this late stage I can only share ideas. Last year I did help plan the video and I'd love to do it again but I'm having surgery this coming Tuesday and ill probably won't be up to doing much of anything for a while afterwords. So good luck I hope you guys pull off an awesome world ev day surprise.

I agree. I see Fallen's debut as having more meat to it. The band broke out because of it. The only other option would be Daredevil's release but I don't think we want to be reminded of that terrible movie. (imo it wasn't completely terrible but it wasn't any special [cept of course introducing us to Ev))

Speaking of Official Ev Day, I thought about buying a t-shirt to celebrate it this year. I found an online story here in Portugal that sells Ev merchandise! What you guys think about this shirt? It's 18€

Thanks DeMarzi! And World Evanescence Day was created on EvThreads in 2008? No where else? Or...? lol. Sorry, I just want to make sure I have my facts straight. I also think Fallen's release date it more practical. It was their debut, worldwide release under a major label; not a local "debut" release under a not well known label. Andromeda - Evanescent-Killjoy: I thought the EF Parody Video was going to be the project? Even if it's a day or two late, I think it could still work?

It's 18€ That's actually one of my favorite Ev shirts! It's very colorful in person, but this one fits a little tight so make sure to order the correct size. AeternusAmatorius: I don't remember what year it was, possibly 2008. But yes, the idea was born and created on Evthreads.

It's 18€ I was going to buy a new shirt, but I've been banned from buying anything until I go on vacation March 25. I might just charge it anyway on the card. It's WED after all. Amy's pregnant and I need a nice looking shirt to match my son.

We knew about the release date of Origin ever since Gabe posted the date on his Exodus Discography site, (the one that talks about how at the Origin Release party they were selling red shirts but he wasn't going to buy any shirt that was red (or whatever )). All the Ev Discographies stemmed from that one. If they still don't believe you, the poster could have easily just searched EvBoard, since it was written on their Discography topic back in early 2004, [ LINK] so yeah, we knew the date many years before anyone ever thought up of Evanescence Day.

Right, we knew the date of Origin, that wasn't the issue. The date that was considered that we DIDN'T know was when Ben and Amy first met (ie when Evanescence was formed). Nobody could get a hold of Amy but Ben responded on Twitter and basically said he had no clue and just go with the release of Fallen. The other choices I believe were the release of Origin (decided against because it wasn't a real album), the release of The Open Door (too 'random'), and Amy's birthday (Amy =/= Evanescence). And yes, it was all put to a vote and the release of Fallen was what came out on top.

I'm assuming you were there/part of it and remember this?
