Vote in the poll above. These artists are said to be "similar" to Evanescence, but I wanted to know which ones are actually listened to by the fans. I hate all of those bands and musicians besides Amy Lee.

Actually I found out that since last year I listened to more of them (besides a bunch of other new bands which I met recently, mainly at various live shows). How can someone "hate" a musician? It's awesome to be a musician

I agree that I don't find any of these similar to Evanescence. Especially with the 3rd album, Evanescence has moved away from a darker look and darker themes. I love bands like Nightwish, WT, Lacuna Coil, etc... but they are more metal. Great bands though.

The only similarities between the artists are either that they are a female-fronted rock (using it in the broadest sense possible here) band or a band with Ev members (past and present). Or just an Ev member; I'm looking at you Amy Lee. -__- Not accepting Amy Lee and Seether feat. Amy Lee as valid answers, by the way.

Wow, I only listen to some Pretty Reckless and Kerli. But I don't think they are related in any way with Ev. I don't care about metal honestly. Actually I just listen to whatever fits my mood. But metal is definitely not in the list.

Just looking through this list again, it's actually surprising how many of these bands I listen to on a regular basis. I do agree with what a lot of people have said though, because Evanescence are so unique, often the only real similarities are that they have a female vocalist.
It's interesting that this list has brought up so many European Symph and Goth Metal bands too. This seems pretty weird to me since I kind of view the US rock/metal scene and the European rock/metal scene as being almost separate and influenced by completely different things. I think that's why Lacuna Coil sounds so different to Ev even though stylistically they're attempting very similar things. Lacuna Coil will always have that typically European 'beauty and the beast' feel and drama to it, whereas Ev has always been a lot more riff/groove driven in keeping with the bluesy/groove and Nu metal styles predominant in the US. With the exception of Lacuna Coil, I actually feel like Ev have more in common with US hard rock/post hardcore bands like Breaking Benjamin or Anberlin as opposed to Nightwish or Sirenia (glad these two are there though because I love them <3 ).
I do feel like as Ev have developed they're actually carving out even more of a distinct sound. You can very much hear Amy's Bjork and Bristol Trip-hop influences coming through in Ev's more synth driven tracks (even as early as T.O.D. there are moments that feel almost like Massive Attack or Portishead), and I feel like they've definitely adopted a lot of the European drama purely by being influenced by European composers (Mozart, Beethoven etc.). Another thing about Ev which really sets them apart are their equipment choices. Off the top of my head I can't think of a single other band whose guitarists use Ibanez/ENGL and Gibson/PRS/Orange for instance. It's a very eclectic combination that really doesn't gear itself to any particular style of music (it's not like your stereotypical metalheads turning up with LTDs and Marshall stacks or your stereotypical bluesmen turning up with a Fender Bassman and electro-acoustic Gibson). They're not gearing their sound for any particular market, they're all just working with gear that they most like the sound of for personal reasons.
Sorry, going way off topic, but I think this vaguely summarises why streaming websites etc. struggle to pin down 'similar artists' because quite simply there are none.
