I can not imagine how could Evanescence be 'unsigned' and go on worldwide tour without the financial support. They quite simply couldn't. I'm purely speculating their options if Amy was to go forward with this whole digital EP thing or/and go solo (which she even mentioned herself was just thinking out loud rather than any serious suggestion). Music labels are powerful, but equally Wind Up would not want to lose Evanescence since they make them a lot of money and Evanescence could (in my opinion) just move to another label without too much effort if they wanted. It's perhaps for this reason that they're actually more likely to stay with Wind Up since there's a sort of convenience agreement there. I can, however see her trying a digital EP as a solo project without a label though as I'm pretty sure Wind Up own the name Evanescence and not her, although granted if she wanted to tour on her own to support the EP it would be difficult. I don't think she likes touring as much as writing though anyway.

I am dieing to hear the kind of stuff Amy would produce as a solo artist, but ultimately it comes down to what will make Amy and the rest of the band most happy. Of course I can, however see her trying a digital EP as a solo project without a label though as I'm pretty sure Wind Up own the name Evanescence and not her, although granted if she wanted to tour on her own to support the EP it would be difficult. I don't think she likes touring as much as writing though anyway. I'm not so sure about this. Tour is energy-consuming but the enthusiastic audience also has enormous energy and you can be somehow "being charged" by its power. If she did not enjoy it, she would sure end it sooner. But yes, it may be a double-edged sword - like everything.
