This song has a very funereal quality to me. The chorus is such a mournful melody. The second verse has this sound of someone at the end of their rope just shouting into the abyss. Very appropriate placement on the album. I feel like it and Far From Heaven are a pair, like Erase This and Lost in Paradise. Two songs that are kind of different sides of similar subjects, one being intense and aggressive, while the other is it’s softer counterpart. Part of Me also has that same gentleness in it like Erase This, both being heavy songs where the narrator is very vulnerable. The “Dont let me GOOOOOOOO” is something I try to ignore though.

That's a pretty interesting interpretation to this song. I was thinking of it being more of a dream like sequence, either literal or metaphorical in the sense of the slow motion kind of feeling one feels after a loved one dies (that instant denial I guess). That "No, this can't be real. This has to be a dream. I need to wake up!" sense of feeling. Going through those emotions and remembering all those memories that also bring happiness and sadness at the same time because the death is so fresh and it sucks and hurts so bad that you will not be able to create new memories like that ever again. So... Reading this before posting it and after reading the lyrics to try to get my point across, I realized what I am trying to describe I feel is that empty and lonely feeling that is tried to be portrayed in movies/tv shows being at the wake of a deceased loved one. So yes. Very funeral quality. But I also get this, the song is going backwards too. Funeral to the beginning of the relationship.

When you read the lyrics without listening (for me it's kind of hard to take in their meaning in the very high energy context of the song) it does paint a better picture of kinda progressing from that desperate place to a place of, and pardon this cringey phrase, "reclaiming your darkness" lol. The more I pay attention to them, I really love these lyrics. Reminds me SO much of Erase This, but in a good way. We have Ev songs where Amy is the victim, Ev songs where she's the strong one fighting something, etc... etc... My favorite lyrics are the ones where no one else is the villain and she kind of owns her fascination with darkness. "I cannot erase this darkness in me", "What good could come from embracing the dark?" ... Here she does embrace it and is better for it.
I also like how in the track order we have Far From Heaven being sort of the darkest hour of the album with no happy ending or resolution. Then Part of Me has this rebuilding quality to it. Then we finish with Blind Belief being strong and proudly embracing love. The opening lyric of "I believe in us" is a really poignant follow up to the loss of faith in Far From Heaven, then embracing the darkness in Part of Me in order to discover faith in herself in Blind Belief.

The transition from Far From heaven to this lol. This one is awesome, so powerful, so hopeful. Amy's voice is top notch, I can't imagine singing this one live.

Is the "don't let me GOOO" bit that cheesy/cringy though? xd I thought how it made a nice counterpart/reference to Lithium's same bit though expressed opposite.

That haunting melody at the end of this song, wow. I agree completely - I wish there was more of that sort of stuff throughout the album.

Found an amazing acapella version of Part of Me that somebody made. Whoever Automatic Doll is on YouTube, they're killing it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe2UleAio-U&ab_channel=AutomaticDollThe layers of vocals are just incredible, and it's made me realise why this is one of my favourite songs on the album. Amy's voice is far and away my favourite part of Ev and there just weren't enough layers of her voice on most of TBT for me.
