I can see the first verse being about Ben, or about an experience Amy had before joining him and forming Evanescence. If the song progresses chronologically, I find it hard to think that the bridge is about We Are The Fallen or about the previous band members from the Fallen era. I think this will need more thought, and as Amy said, we might never really know what some parts refer to. Personally, I relate to this song on a personal level so I have my own interpretation in my head. I think it's good to keep some parts to ourselves and not share everything.

I took the bridge to say that Amy couldn't find it within herself to leave the bad situation and that she's grateful Ben walked away because she might still be in the same toxic world today instead of having the kickass band of Evanescence we have now. I think this song is really telling on why Ev was on the edge of being done for so long. Things must have been really dark for a while through the creation of their first album and rise to stardom. I am actually surprised Amy had the strength to hold on to the band and its name. I probably would have walked away or started something new.

I'm glad she held the band together. My life would've been so different without this band.

OFFICIAL ANALYSIS:
God, sorry this took so long, first of all, yesterday was a long day. Anyway, let's get into it. From the very first second of this track, I was completely blown away. I am hearing so many fascinating pieces that make a really good story that this song alone is only giving us the tip of the iceberg of. Everything from the crunch of the guitars, the stuttering synths, the heart beat of the drums, and Amy's sonic voice tie the whole thing together in knots that are hard to see into clearly. The use of that music box sound is just the most brilliant thing Ev has done in a very long time with their music.
The initial file I got from a friend on Thursday was not so great. However, the mix I have on Apple Music is far better. I recommend using iTunes or Apple Music to get the better sound out of this song. That's really all I have to say about the mixing.
As for the actual lyrical content, I am ever so grateful Amy gave us official lyrics. I feel like we would've been fighting over that forever. Super fascinating that this song basically takes us through things chronologically, like Amy's telling us a story. She doesn't do anything on accident (unless it's to fuck up technology). I'm in love with the word choices "our ashes twisting in the air" "never gonna shut me up again" it's just so raw and powerful. Overall, an amazing final single!

See this is spot on! Shame the piano and strings and vocals aren’t this level in official mix. It’s a shame but it’s still an awesome song. Thanks for sharing.

On the first listen I couldn't relate to the song at all. Now, after I read the official lyrics and Amy explained the song, I do, though the mixing still bugs me.

I got bored and enhanced the piano and added a few little piano parts. If its blocked in your country, message me and I'll send the Google drive link.

So, once the CD is out, will the mixing be better on this song? I'm asking because I just bought the CD 💜
The one on Youtube completely drowns out Amy. Spotify is a tiny bit better though.
