Reading through all of these comments has got me properly excited now. I'm going to hold off until the video premier and watch/listen to it for the first time then, but from the descriptions you're giving, it sounds really interesting and that's definitely a good thing Dons mod hat. Please also remember that this being the start of the cycle for the first full studio album other than Synthesis in 9 years and Ev being pretty unafraid to change things up - as it sounds like they have done - opinions will be pretty varied on it. Every opinion is valid and welcome here provided it isn't a direct attack on anyone. We're all very passionate about the band (which is why we're here) so it's natural for emotions to run high, but remember to respect that we're not all going to experience the same emotions when we listen to it. Try to keep an open mind.

It's a shame that Spotify haven't even got this song on their new releases playlist at all That's weird - it was on my Release Radar playlist this morning. Not really sure how I feel about the song just yet. To me, it feels almost like a bit of an artificial push to do something different, but it just causes it to sound a bit all over the place. Hopefully I'll change my mind after a few more listens. I'm also not sure about the production (yet again - ever since Speak To Me and Synthesis, I've been unsure about the new direction Ev/Amy is taking production wise). Maybe it's not production, maybe it's still something in the mixing or mastering that is lacking. Or what's probably more true is that the band/Amy is going for a rawer, more real sound, but I'm not sure it's for me. Amy's voice sounds great though, and I'm thrilled that backing vocals feature so prominently - they were always one of my favourite parts of Ev's music for some reason, so it's amazing to hear them featured so prominently again. So for me, the jury's still out.

Happy "Wasted On You" release day everyone! So I managed to get hold of the track yesterday and gave it 3 listens. Then when it came to 12pm UK time i instantly saved it to my favourites. I listened to it a couple of times with my partner and they enjoyed it. They said it was very catchy as they we humming it not long after. Listening to the song again today im still liking it. I'm still not crazy in love with the versus, but the chorus and bridge is amazing!!!
I'm very interested in this music video we are getting today.

There are many comparisons, mainly from fans, that the song resembles RadioHead's "Creep". My fear is that Thom Yorke will do the same thing he did with Lana Del Rey, sued her for saying that a certain song of hers would be a plagiarism of "Creep". The group stated that Lana's song was identical to “Creep” and asked that all gains from the track be passed on to them. The singer denied and faced justice for the rights. Just had my first listen to the song. I am keeping an open mind and I’m not dwelling on the bands legacy of the sound that has made an impact and continues to develop. That being said I don’t find this song impactful lyrically. It’s clear what the lyrics represent and are open for the listeners interpretation, which is great. But I just feel they still leave a bland taste in my mouth. The instrumentation and production are crisp and everything sits in its rightful pocket. For Amy’s vocals it’s a little too comparable to “Creep.” Which is a little frustrating bc that’s constantly in my mind through out the entirety of the track. Other than that comparison I don’t feel there’s anything memorable other than that to the melodies, lyrics or even the song as a whole. I’m sure my opinion will change as I give the song more listens. But it’s not one that leaves me feeling like damn, this is a whole new era and I can’t wait to be taken on this new journey. It’s like, well.. that’s that. Next. I know this seems harsh and I’m not trying to be just giving my honest opinion. I’m sure the rest of the material will have a bigger impact. Doesn’t need to sound like their previous work by any means but just hoping for more thrills and something that gives more of a punch. Whether slow or fast. I highly doubt it. There's bits where you could deem them to be similar because of the chord progressions used in grunge songs. You can't write a grunge song using a bluesy rhythm and it's very limited. Come to think of it, the style of this is actually pre-Origin but taking elements of each release thereafter with a modern twist. Definitely Evanescence EP/Sound Asleep EP vibes which is why some fans are saying it sounds familiar because it sounds like it's from that era. Also it seems to be the whole overall style will be similar to this but at times go heavier or lighter, or more strip back or more electronics. When you listen to the demo of Your Love, this would fit into this album as well as Take Cover. Unfortunately Perfect Dream doesn't sound like it would and nor does Find A Way. Whether these make this bun, who knows but YL has the highest chance of making it.

The group stated that Lana's song was identical to “Creep” and asked that all gains from the track be passed on to them. The singer denied and faced justice for the rights. I feel like the vibe of the song and the intervals may be similar to "Creep," but it's in no way as similar as "Creep" was to Lana's song, which was pretty much identical. So, I wouldn't worry about that much. (And I hope that Thom realized how stupid that was anyway - "Creep" sounded a lot like a Hollies song with the same chord progression, and they never sued Radiohead.) It's very easy for songs to take on a similar progression when we're working with 4-chord patterns which is the most common in modern music. -- I've gone from liking to loving Wasted On You. I've been craving music from the 90s and early 00s like crazy lately, and this hits the spot. Very different vibe from them, and I'm down with that. Most of my favorite artists are ones that aren't afraid to try new things and experiment, so I have no problem with change.

The video is edited by PR huh I'm pretty sure its made by the band themselves and they're iphones? They filmed it, looks like he directed and edited. But maybe the social distancing means he had less control over the outcome compared to doing a video in person. I dunno, I wanna keep an open mind. Besides, Eric D Howell was asked to do a video later on and that’ll start balancing things. Just don’t wanna pre-judge here.

Someone said they hope for YL to be included on the new album. I don't think so. As far we know, it's up to L&L to release it, and Amy will not put it out.
Song credits on YouTube say that Amy and Will "Science" provided programming on the song.

I'm just going to watch it with an open mind as I did when I first heard the song. Not expecting anything so just going to take it for whatever it will be.

It's a shame that Spotify haven't even got this song on their new releases playlist at all That's weird - it was on my Release Radar playlist this morning. It's on my personalised release radar, but nowhere to be seen on the new music Friday playlist, which has 50+ artists, most I've never heard of but Ev is nowhere to be seen, worrying really as Ev still fill arenas here in the UK but non-mega fans aren't going to be aware of the song. I love the song and it was a few listens before I got to that point. It has commercial ability, and I really wish it had promotion aside from Evs socials.

I know it's crazy that Evanescence are this massive successful touring band yet they aren't included on the new music friday list.

Kerrang! did review the song but I don’t have a link for it. EvanescenceCrew posted about it.
