Best first single the band has ever released. The electronic in the song only showed that she can use the broken records songs.

Some digital stores have a different cover without the text "THE BITTER TRUTH", maybe they will put a different cover for every single?

Idk how some people are dwelling on Fallen/TOD. I can totally hear the radiohead thingy people said. But it mostly reminds me of Muse's ballads with the calm verses and then the epicness of the chorus and bridge. I love the melody and the introduction is so damn powerful. It does sound like Jen doing backing vocals.

Just had my first listen to the song. I am keeping an open mind and I’m not dwelling on the bands legacy of the sound that has made an impact and continues to develop. That being said I don’t find this song impactful lyrically. It’s clear what the lyrics represent and are open for the listeners interpretation, which is great. But I just feel they still leave a bland taste in my mouth. The instrumentation and production are crisp and everything sits in its rightful pocket. For Amy’s vocals it’s a little too comparable to “Creep.” Which is a little frustrating bc that’s constantly in my mind through out the entirety of the track. Other than that comparison I don’t feel there’s anything memorable other than that to the melodies, lyrics or even the song as a whole. I’m sure my opinion will change as I give the song more listens. But it’s not one that leaves me feeling like damn, this is a whole new era and I can’t wait to be taken on this new journey. It’s like, well.. that’s that. Next. I know this seems harsh and I’m not trying to be just giving my honest opinion. I’m sure the rest of the material will have a bigger impact. Doesn’t need to sound like their previous work by any means but just hoping for more thrills and something that gives more of a punch. Whether slow or fast.

It’s fine to have your own opinion and not like it. Keep listening to it every now and then and come back to it another day. At first I wasn’t sure as in my head it was going to be like CMWYS. Once you get past that thought and just enjoy it. I’m not even crazy about the whole song yet. But the chorus and the bridge are amazing.

There are many comparisons, mainly from fans, that the song resembles RadioHead's "Creep". My fear is that Thom Yorke will do the same thing he did with Lana Del Rey, sued her for saying that a certain song of hers would be a plagiarism of "Creep". The group stated that Lana's song was identical to “Creep” and asked that all gains from the track be passed on to them. The singer denied and faced justice for the rights. We are limited to how many chord progressions there are consciously available to us. Countless songs have been written and we are bond to have some kind of resemblance to another sooner or later. It doesn’t feel purposeful at all that WOY sounds like “Creep” but it def has a few notes that are a striking comparison. These days a lot of artists want to claim that someone ripped them off one way or another even “artists“ who are unknown like the man who sued Gaga claiming “shallow” was a rip off of a song he had written. And this guy was no one lol but yes that would suck if something like that was brought against the band.

This song really caught me by surprise! I was expecting something way more grungey. I'm hearing major Call Me When You're Sober/Swimming Home/Secret Door vibes mixed with Creep. I love that we can hear Amy's vocals so clearly, she almost got drowned out in a few Ev3 songs...I'm going to see more songs very soon!

I listened to this and I could hear every single element from Origin, Fallen, TOD, Ev3, Synthesis within this. This definitely sounds like the broken record that they have wanted to release - the most resemblance this song has is with Swimming Home. I feel like this song was written to get themselves back in the music industry as it reminds me of recent ballads released by likes on Lewis Capaldi or Callum Scott. They weren't forced by a label to write a hit as such. I feel like it is more commercially orientated and not heavy. However, this is more than like one part of the spectrum of a rainbow they want to show. This is by far one of the most polished songs they've released, the mixing is brilliant - one criticism is that I actually can't hear Any at times which is something they guy who leaked the title also stated as he couldn't quite make out the lyrics. The other thing is and sadly people are wanting a Fallen 2.0 even to this day. This will never happen and people need to move on. Amy won't compromise the band's integrity for this. Again there are elements where it reminds me of Fallen like I have started but stylistically it's everything mixed into one pot and you definitely feel like you're taken on a journey throughout this song.

I agree that a lot of people want to hear Fallen 2.0 and that won’t be happening Amy made that very clear from the beginning and that’s what’s so great about her is that she’s not willing to compromise her art. Regardless if anyone likes it she will always remain true to what she believes in. She’s done that since the beginning and I applaud her for that. The elements of Evanescence are there which is why you can take away from each piece and find it in this song. And yes, the production is what really made this song for me. As someone mentioned earlier I was hoping this song would sound polished and the vocals less “live” sounding. Though this isn’t a favorite of mine I credit the work that was put into creating this final piece.

I always buy Evanescence music and will always do. I am very sad that the song leaked yesterday at 15:53 and it's been downloaded 1,000+ times already. So much for them getting their fair share of sales. Wish there was a way that people could pre-order this and then the song would automatically download to the said purchaser.

Song's alright. Performed well, and an awesome way to segue into bringing the band in with the drum stabs - very punk rock! It's performed well - and the production is great. I feel like if this song were on Ev3, I would have been more hyped, though. It's a solid 6.5 outta 10.

From the artwork to the lyrics to the song composition etc. This will always be the case, they've already done enough for the fan base, they've already done enough for their previous record label, for once in their careers they need to do what is best for themselves. They don't need to please anyone and this time I don't think they're going to take any crap. So to everyone whose butthurt, seriously get over yourselves, take a back seat and enjoy, whether that's one listen or several - give them a chance.
