Hmmmm interesting. I wonder what this was about? Gearing up for the heaviest Evanescence song yet. A fan on Twitter was wondering if the new music would go political, and Amy replied.

I am sure the lyrics will be very diverse given the experiences Amy has been through since Ev3, her brother's death, raising her child, family life, departing ways with wind up, band life, š virus, having Trump as president, etc, there is a lot to sing about. I am particularly interested in two subjects: wind-up/finally making the music they wanna make and social/political stuff.

Like I said on the Wasted On You thread this is the vibe that it gives me too ! I think that the little rant we got about voting was probably the "snippet" of the album.

I'm actually pretty intrigued by how it could go if they do explore political avenues. I feel like they're a little too complicated as people to release a song that's a straight up angry punk "f' da gov'ment" anthem. I feel like it'd be a lot more explorative, self reflective and nuanced lyrically even when it's clearly emotionally charged and angry. In short I'd actually kind of like to hear a political song by them if only to see how they actually approach writing one.

It's going to have the metaphoric approach Amy loves, like when everyone thought MHIB was about anything but sex trafficking š the most direct approach I can picture from them is a Sick-esque approach. I have to admit I'd like to hear a punk fuck you song just for fun.

OMG!!! --------------- Ev's FB account just confirmed a music video right now!
To me this looks like Amy leaning her head on the piano maybe.

I have to admit I'd like to hear a punk fuck you song just for fun. And even Sick to me felt cleverly thought out. I still can't get over how it felt like they were trying their hardest to write a cliche hard rock song, which in many ways would be the ultimate 'fuck you' to Wind-Up. It's a bit like somebody forcing you into a situation where you have to do something you don't want to and doing it as pedantically as possible to prove a point: "Look, here I am doing EXACTLY what you say, doesn't it suck? And to prove a point I'm going to write it about you". That's how I read Sick. It's raw but ironically so.

I was waiting for something more similar to The Chain and now they come with this mix of everything that they did and something new!! Loved Wasted on You!

This is the first album without Terry. I still believe Amy's and Terry's chemistry was the best when it comes to writing. I'm worried to see if this magic will still be there on the new album.

Thank goodness the production sounds crisper here than it did on The Chain - I was a tad bit worried about that. XD

I do wish he would write a few more songs with Amy one day. It is a stretch but they did see each other in Rockville last year (To perform Sweet Sacrifice) so who knows maybe he did. After hearing Wasted On You, I am curious to see if Perfect Dream and Take Cover make it to this album!
