So I've been trying to find out if Amy's hair is her own or if she has extensions? I've been looking for the answer for almost as long as I've been a fan because I want to know her secret to having long, beautiful, healthy hair damnit!
Do you guys have any ideas?

Oh man, it's a shame old EvThreads isn't around anymore. Amy actually made a massive post about what she does to her hair and how she takes care of it. The only part I remember is she said she hardly ever blow-dries it because it takes forever, which I related to SO HARD!
But yeah, from what little I remember about Amy's hair (wow, I sound like a creep lol). She doesn't wear extensions, that is 100% her hair. She does dye and straighten it though, her hair is naturally a dark brownish color and curly. If you look for childhood pictures of Amy, you'll see.

The secret is genes. And care, but mostly genes. I've been trying to grow my hair to my waist for the past 18 years and the sad part is that I hit my peak in 2004 and it's currently at its shortest for the whole 18 years. My hair is quite healthy but it doesn't particularly enjoy living on my head so I might never reach the length I'm dreaming of. In the meantime a classmate in high school went from a bob to waist length before we graduated and a friend in university used to regularly chop around 20 cm off her hair (complaining that it was too long and getting in the way) and it would grow back in no time. Amy is one of those lucky people. It just grows.

^ Remember how fast her short hair grew in just 2-3 months before entering studio for recording EV3? Also just wanted to leave this here. I always adored her hair but in this show... its length and all those head bangs... just WWWOW!

Guys don't forget she has her own hairdresser on tour. I remember she uses the product "Chi".

Thanks princeofpersia - thanks to you now I'm going to impulse watch an entire concert Not that it's a bad thing, of course. Also I gotta say, Amy's hair looks healthier when it's black. The red color suits her well, but I think her hair looks... I don't know, silkier? when it's black. It could just be that black hair through a camera lens usually looks like one big piece rather than many strands unlike other colors though.

I figured from the pics I’ve seen of her as a teen that it is real but I was wishful thinking. My hair takes forever to grow so maybe I’ll buy some chi products now 😊

Straightening the hair also makes it look longer though so yeah. Actually what's the product Beth sprays on Amy's hair in ABH right before she straightens it? Surely it's not hairspray because that would probably burn the hair.

I had one by Garnier, but that one made my hair feel crispy so I don't recommend it .

Amy has beautiful hair! <3 One thing that kind of irks me about when some people are like "Amy should wear her hair up": Yeah, it looks cute that way, but when you have long, thicker hair, wearing your hair up can kind of hurt because it's so heavy. It's also hard to keep it up. As mine gets longer, I've been having these issues and my hair isn't even as thick as Amy's. I never wore it up a lot in the first place, but it's becoming more difficult. I can't even begin to fathom how heavy Amy's hair is lol.

I have thick hair that is maybe half the length of Amy's. I usually put it in a ponytail and clip it to the back of my head for work and even that is enough to give me a headache some days.

Sooo bringing this topic back to life lol I used to be on Evboard all the time and remember the post Amy made. I also became a Cosmetologist because of Beth Wilson, Amy's makeup artist, hair stylist and very good friend.
So idk if she still uses this but; The shampoo and conditioner was Kerasilk Goldwell Beth used Sebastián Laminates hair spray, it has heat protectant in it and helps to keep the hair straight, which she needs being on stage and in different climates. Im sure she uses a lot more than that, honestly a good stylist will used about 4-6 products on the hair depending on the hair and its needs. Shes used a Chi Flat Iron as well, with a paddle brush and comb to get the hair straight.
Professional products go a long way, but so do genes, Amy has good ones. Look at her skin as well. Always looks amazing.
As far as extensions, she does use them, but I believe only for photo shoots and music videos. You can see Beth putting them in, in the making of Lithium. I also can spot them because hair is what I do for a living, because of watching Anywhere but Home. My mom got me all those products for Christmas in 05 and I've never stopped working towards my goal of being like Beth.
Also, good to be back on the forum after so many years!
