So fess up, guys. how much money have you spent on Ev? It can be one particular event, in total, or just for this tour alone. I have been all over twitter. Fans paying $1000 EPs, fans going to multiple VIP tier 1s...it makes me curious.
I will start: Currently, I don't have the option of letting Ev make me broke, but I will say altogether since 2003 I have probably spent about $5-6k on the band. This includes concerts, merch, CDs, posters, the like.
I got a job at 14 years old, and 90% of my money went to Ev and the rest on food.
Anyone care to share?

After thinking about it, not nearly as much as I would have thought thought... I was very lucky in the past since the majority of the concerts that I've been to took place while I was in middle school/high school and my parents mostly paid for the tickets (down side is the seats weren't as nice as I get for myself now). VIP 1 this year is probably my biggest single purchase, and adding in the concert I went to last year plus posters/merch/CDs over the years I would estimate...~1200.
I am proactively saving up tons for the next tour though. I am aiming to go to 2-3 shows.

I was once a well off, happy person who could comfortably get by without having to skip meals and walk miles to shops to buy a cheap can of beans just so I could get through the week. I once had fancy clothes, now I barely have clothes at all. I am a shell of my former self.
Moral of the story, guys: Evanescence. NOT EVEN ONCE
In all seriousness it probably totals around the £2000 mark (so around $2600) over the years. I've never been a big collector, but if you factor in travelling to and from shows, accommodation, tickets, a couple of VIPs and obviously the cost of albums, singles and EPs and delivery costs it'll be around that. Obviously not all of that is going to the band, too. If anything, I feel like I probably spend less on Ev than a lot of fans, but then I also religiously spend money where there's an option not to (such as avoiding illegal downloads in favour of purchases direct to the band/label etc.).

Oh I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on Ev, its thousands upon thousands over the years. My trip to the UK in 2012 cost about $4,000, this trip to the States probably close to $3,000. I also went to Japan (although I used that as a family holiday also). I have hundreds of items in my collection my most expensive I think is my Origin coming in at $300 so it's probably easily up over the $10,000 mark in total. Absolutely no regrets tho, the experiences have been incredible and I feel very lucky to have been able to travel abroad to see them (kind of don't have a choice though, since they hardly ever come here)

I don't mind spending the money because I am very passionate about the band and it's a hobby of mine. I am not rich by any means, I just save up and like to go all out. It doesn't make me feel any better or worse then any other fan, it just makes me broke.

It's true, and I have learned through the years that a fan is a fan is a fan. I don't know why, but when I started collecting stuff I felt I was in some unnamed competition.

Yeah, I actually got Amy to sign it after the show in Nashville. I pinned it on my profile on Twitter. It was a lot of money, but it was the real deal...and worth the money..for me. It's just a hobby of mine. It doesn't make me better than anyone. I truly mean that. Don't think that. It's not a competition at all. The fans that actually think that are crazy. Every fan is equal to me, to the casual fan...to the ones that spend a billion dollars. We all love Evanescence. That's it.

Technically the only Ev things I bought with my own money were Fallen back when I was 13, the deluxe edition of Ev3 back when it came out, and the physical copy of Synthesis. TOD, ABH, and my 3 Ev shirts have been Christmas presents over the years
So like $40?

I totally agree with this. The amount of money you spend doesn't equal how much of a fan you are. If you can afford it great, but if you can't that's fine too. Collecting also isn't a competition at all, but I totally understand why people feel discouraged cause some people do get very competitive about it and that doesn't make it fun for anyone. I hardly post any of the stuff I get anymore and I haven't updated my website in years cause I do it more for myself than anything else.

Aside from the CDs and some merch, the most I've spent is $80 ($50 for the ticket itself and $30 from the gift shop for the "pass the line perk") when I saw them at the House of Blues in April 2016.

Nowhere as broke as it could have. First, because up until 2012 I could basically afford exactly nothing. Second, because I have good internal brakes and usually win against the temptation before I've completely annihilated my savings. I really wanted to go for the VIP Synthesis tickets but after the summer trip that would have been irresponsible (given that my rent is over half of my salary and Paris is freaking expensive in general). I like treating myself with Evanescence things but I know I can't have everything and I'm ok with it.

Same here. I've bought the CDs and I've been to one show, so really not much, less than $200 total for sure.

Well, as some of you are aware, I'm a forum baby. I'm also an only child, and, admittedly, a little spoiled. A lot of my Ev stuff has been given to me as Christmas or birthday presents because my dad is pretty aware of all the collector's items, and he loves the thrill of a good Ebay deal. I think it'd be more interesting to consider how much he's spent on Ev. <3
