^^ Do you mean Ex-boyfriend? Lol. J/K. Boys are silly sometimes I know right. Well, at least he likes a couple of their songs, even if they are only the hit singles. Of course he thinks BMTL is their best song and stated he thinks they should have had a full time male singer. Funny that's exactly what Wind-Up wanted. I haven't used the poop yetJust.... Ew..... Eeeeeeeeeeewwww.... Hehehehe... Though, nothing is more motivating as an Ev fan than someone who is wrong about Evanescence! Though, he does have a point about mediocre instrumentals (granted, they are mostly on Fallen), but CMWYS is actually one of their better singles instrument-wise... At least, better than BMTL, GU, and EF... But leagues behind Lithium, GE, MHIB, and WYW....

^ I just have to say, you have like the best username and avatar ever. I laugh every time I see you. I also have the issue of having a significant other who doesn't like Ev. Well, actually, he's never really listened to Ev. He just bases his current opinion on 3 songs (BMTL, MI, CMWYS). He likes to tease me for liking them, and I get it, he thinks they're some lame, gothy/emo girl band. Though he's admitted that its not fair of him to judge them on what little he knows and agreed to give them a chance. I think he could actually enjoy some stuff from Ev3. But I'm afraid if he doesn't, I'm never gonna hear the end of it. But to be on topic, I put on Fallen again recently and was kinda surprised by how much I still like it. I feel like I do this a lot - I go like 2 years without listening to it and start to feel like I won't care for it much anymore, but then I finally listen to it and end up really enjoying it. It still holds up for me. It's not all that complex or super interesting, and it can be a little overdramatic, but I still think it's a solid album. And I'm especially glad that I can still enjoy it after 10 years.

sometimes I really wonder what would Fallen sound like if Ben didn't exist. I picture it sounding way less commercial, having more piano, choir, long low notes and have more songs sounding like Anywhere, Missing, Hello and Good Enough....

Hmm... If Ben didn't exist... I imagine Fallen would have been... Entirely different. Not necessarily more Amy though, as I think the label was far too stubborn for her to really shine creatively at the time. I think Ben seems to have been the one to embrace the more commercial side of music (according to Amy and his post-Ev work, at least)... It would have been perhaps more generic sounding, actually. I think if Amy was in it alone surrounded by all these producers and a hired band, her input would have gotten lost without someone else on her team. Fallen already did exactly what the label wanted; to replicate someone else's success, but if there were even less people fighting for what Ev was before Fallen, it may have been lost entirely on the assembly line that is commercial music.

God, I can't believe it's already been 10 years. Soooo much has happened in my life in those 10 years, yet it still almost feels like yesterday that I bought this album. I can remember it all so clearly. I anxiously waited through school all day until my mom could take me to Best Buy to buy Fallen the day it came out. I can still perfectly see me standing in line waiting to check out, clutching the cd, hardly being able to wait to rip it open and pour over the booklet while listening to the album in the car. I had obsessed over Ev the 2 months prior, downloading every old song, demo, and leaked track with those "whooshes" I could get my hands on. But hearing all of Fallen was still a totally new experience. I can't even remember the last time I bought a cd without hearing it all beforehand. Now everything leaks. It was a really special experience getting to hear this album without having heard the whole thing already. It was magic. I even remember thinking that exact word as I first listened to it on the car ride home: magic.
Ugh, I'm feeling so sappy and nostalgic now. Looking back, the Fallen era really was one of the best times of my life and it had so much to do with this band. It brought me closer to some of my friends; it was something we really bonded over and had so much fun obsessing over. I have so many happy memories of us all going to the bookstore to buy every magazine Ev was featured in, recording and sharing tv performances with each other, spending hours on Evboard, rearranging our walls to fit more Ev pictures, being inspired by them in our art. It was such a special time in my life and I know it wouldn't have been nearly as great without Ev in it.
What are your memories of this day 10 years ago?

I was 16 when Fallen was released. I remember that instead of taking the bus to and from school, I got up even earlier in the mornings so that I could save up my bus fare to buy it by walking there and back home again. I'd saved enough money in time but came home to find that my Dad had bought it for me anyway. I walked in to the house that afternoon and heard my Dad switch on the CD player. 'Going Under' was erupting from it. I'd never heard it before but knew right away who it was from Amy's distinctive voice. My Dad smiled at me and said, "Do you know who that is?" "Yes", I repled beaming back at him. I remember scrambling off to my room with my new treasure and listening to it all just by myself. By the time Whisper drew to a close my life was changed forever. I had spent weeks obsessing over 'Bring Me To Life' and finding out everything I could about Evanescence. I went in to my local music shop and asked if I could have the poster that hung in the window advertising Fallen, once they were done with it. (Now part of my beloved collection). I think the fact that I can still recall exactly the first time I heard BMTL and subsequently, Fallen is a true testimony to the wonder of that music. My life has been so shaped by this band that I literally don't think the last ten years would have been anything like they have been if it weren't for them. Fallen, and that whole era will forever hold a special place in my heart. <3

Ten years! Wow it's so amazing. This is the longest love affair with any artist or group that I've had where I'm still so in love with them as much as I was in the beginning. Because I went through a lot of stuff, like my parents be separated and moving around a lot, I never actually got Fallen until maybe June 2003. My aunt's sister-in-law actually gave me her copy of Fallen, because she said it was too "depressing." I loved this CD so much and I listened to it every day for I don't know how long. Until one day a while later, where she asked if she could borrow it back, because she wanted to listen to a couple songs, because she was getting a divorce and I guess she (obviously) felt depressed. She was supposed to give it back. Unfortunately, she forgot and moved away. So I had to buy my own copy. Which it fine cause I had the joy of unwrapping it and all that.

I actually only started listening to Ev just before I turned 14-three years ago, my dad was watching the music channel and bring me to life was on(sorry guys, I know....) I asked who that was because I liked it and he said Evanescence, I remembered seeing it in my iTunes library so I rushed to put it on my iPod. At first I didn't like most of the fallen album then my mom was on FB a few days later and she showed me a video, I heard a voice I recognized and I thought that was Evanescence, I listened to the whole album and found that song, it was my immortal(again I'm sorry) I started listening to that album and found we had ToD and some unreleased stuff and I downloaded anything that we were missing and became obsessed still to this day!

Fallen in love all over again.
I have my 10-year-old CD. Anyone buying the special purple vinyl press?

Haha, don't apologize, it is almost impossible for BMTL or MI not to be your first Ev song. As much as I despise BMTL these days (though I still like it more than most of Fallen), it was my first Ev song... Ten years ago I saw Daredevil and thought that scene with BMTL was freakin' awesome, hehehe. Then my sister burned BMTL to a cd and I listened to it for an entire six hour car drive. Of course, since I saw Daredevil first, that makes MI my second song as well, though I never realized it was Ev for a long time until after I had ABH (my first Ev cd) and had gotten so used to GU being on tv. I remember a point in my teen years where each song on Fallen was my favorite song of all time, haha, which I now attribute to them all sounding the same... Of course I'm going to like all of them, haha. I have fond memories though of the first time I listened to Hello. I was sitting on my bed and had never bothered listening to the whole cd before... Hello put me in such a strange mood that I'd never quite experienced before, which is why Hello remained my favorite for the longest time. I listened to Imaginary on repeat for several hours waiting for my dad to pick me up for the weekend when I first gave it a listen. I started learning how to play them and got to play My Immortal with my music theory teacher, she took out her violin and played the vocal line while I played piano. That was pretty freakin' awesome.... I absolutely refuse to let nostalgia interfere with my musical tastes, but I do still have fond memories of Fallen from way back then, even if it doesn't interest me anymore.

My dad doesn't mind them and my lil bro likes them but my mom and sister hate them because I overplay Ev on repeat all the time and they're sick of it all:p
